Where do I put the grease on the splines
Does anybody know where I can get that cover for the flywheel at 2:45 in the video.
About how many hours does it take from start to finish to put a clutch in a 2008 Jeep Patriot?
I have a Jeep just like yours and I don't understand why 2 hours after they put the clutch in the transmission shell broke where the connected arrow goes.
How much is the clutch kit
Awesome thank you 👍
Thank you! Informative video. I need to pull mine over weekend. Blessings
I got mine out in just about 3 hours but it sure was a pain to get back in with the transfer case attached. The bolt on the back side of the transmission wedged in between the engine, transmission, and the transfer case was a pain to get to.
Thanks for the video
Hey man how do bleed the clutch system on these vehicles after fitting the clutch kit,thx
do you have link where you buy your kit?
Its all worth it " sorta" lmao 🤣
how do you bleed them cause everytime i try the bleed process it starts leaking from within where the new part is
Was this a manual transmission?
Hi do you know if its possible to replace the crap cvt at to an manual one?
Thanks for showing all this. I just had a complete clutch replace/install on my 2008 Patriot North. 2.4L 5spd with a 144,000 miles on it. This is interesting.
Lmao I love how you use your abs sensor wire to hold your driver side hub in place
Ya know it worked🤷♂️ just tested the strength of it for you🤣
Hey man thanks for the video. I just pulled one of these tonight. I watched your video first and it really helped knowing all the bolt sizes. The only thing I really did different than you for future reference I popped the differential off. it will save you a shit ton of time wrestling the whole thing out. It’s just a couple of O-rings between the transmission and the diff. Six bolts. Then the transmission drops straight down. Also instead of taking the strut bolts out I popped the ball joints out. Got it out in about two hours.
Man how did you keep the engine in with transmission out???
Passenger side motor mount stayed on and used a jack to move the engine up and down while worked the transmission out. It was tricky my friend lol
River camp customs man mine doesn’t have a passenger side motor mount it’s a 2wd I finally got it out and back in tho. I much prefer trucks I had to get a buddy to help me hold the engine on top of the jack while I lowered it and stuff
But thanks for the reply!!
Hey man. Awesome very helpful video.. Once all the belhousing bolts were removed, and transmission split from the engine, was it a mission removing the gearbox? I currently have all the mounts removed, subframe etc. the casing split away from the engine. But I can’t seem to get the gearbox off. There’s a half inch gap between box and engine. Any pointers?
I can’t get mine back together. Did you bolt bell housing then put mounts back on?
I have is so tore apart I may never get it back together I recommend nobody try this repair yourself
I have tried everything and still can’t get it out Turning into a night mare project
What exactly cant you remove?
River camp customs the bell housing I have it loose and every bolt out the rear motor mount was the worst mine is a 4x4 and I saw in one of your comments that I needed to remove the subframe ??? Was planning on that tomorrow
Thanks for the video. I have a 2011. I've had it for almost 3 years. I've had to have the clutch replaced every year since I've bought it. Apparently its littered with clutch problems. I've never had to change a clutch from normal driving in my life. I've only owned one automatic in 15 years. If the clutch goes out again I believe I'm putting a stage 2 in it and seeing if that helps the life of it. I wanted to see how hard it would be to change myself this time and save $800
@Richard Reina You have a standard clutch, and a stage 2, stage 3, etc. Normally they are for racing, or when adding power. They have more of a clamping force, look up stage 2 clutch on here there are all sorts of videos.
Dude I've had mine new since 2012 over 100k and I'm still on my first clutch, I've had zero issues?
@@atrain910 hmm, maybe you just lucked out? Or, what I found out, is my wife apparently doesn't know how to not ride with her foot resting on the clutch pedal. Which in a self adjusting hydraulic clutch is a big no-no! lol
good video, never heard of a cvt manual... i know the automatics are cvt, but a manual is just usually a set of gears
He probably just said it wrong. I have a jeep patriot manual. CVT is automatic
Automatics have manual mode on these jeeps choice of auto or manual
@@ilarrime1 yeah but there isn't two transmissions. one for automatic, and one for "manual mode" there isn't a clutch in an automatic transmission, you are electronically selecting what gear you want to be in.
Sorry just realised you video is 9 months ago,,, my car is jeep compass but looks very similar ,,,
Hi mate great video,,, may I just ask what is the bolts behind the small window you undone,,, is there many bolts and do I rotate the pully to get to them,,, cheers
@john Coady it's the flywheel bolts I believe.
I think there are 4 or 6
Hi I removed my gearbox before to replace my clutch that time you helped me first time round,,, and now my flywheel has damaged teeth due to the starter going bad,, so now I have to drop it again,,, I only just got over oil and turbo issues give me strength,,, anyways my question is when I dropped it last time the head of the all wheel was a pain in the neck can I remove this completely or do I have to leave it attached like what you did on yours,,,, cheers John
Any one know how to bleed it in the new clutch and throw out.. been pumping the pedal for an hour and bleeding it at the bleeder but not gaining anything
What did you end up doing to bleed it?
Thx for this video , can i get clutch kit no ?
I'm glad you did this video however please sometimes while you're filming step back a little so we can actually see what you're doing
Thank you for your input, I will have more videos coming soon and will definitely take your advise.
@@cook11114444 anytime keep them coming I own three Jeep Patriots and I need a lot of insight on them
On an fwd ya think you can get away with not dropping that subframe lol. Considering its not 4x4
I really do believe that you can get away from it considering its fwd. I almost had the trans out without dropping the subframe, But i had to on the 4x4 model
Great helpful video
My clutch just went out on my 2007 Jeep Patriot, I’m not very mechanically incline but I’m also broke so fixing it myself is my only option lol. Was just wondering if this tutorial would work for my Jeep and what tools would I need. Thanks in advanced
They should be very close to the same engine and transmission so this video would help you get it done. You'll need a basic socket set with deep well sockets, screw drivers and pliers. It will definitely take you a day or 2 to really figure it out. Always use jack stands for protection and safety glasses.
hello a clutch on a cvt trans ???
Yes
No, cvts are belt driven, manuals are gear driven. CVT (constant velocity transmission) is the incorrect terminology for this
Hi i have one question do you have put oil when u finish do you any video?
Yes you loose a good bit of fluid when removing the transmission. They're is a fill plug and drain plug on the driver side of the transmission
Hi I have questions do you have to removal 4x4 ?
On this 4x4 jeep you have to remove the drive shaft and the front cv axles for the transmission to be removed.
How many hrs to get it done
First time doing it I would say 5-6 hours. The second time around 3-4 hrs.
@@cook11114444 And do you have any idea (roughly) how many hours for an absolute amateur? Also my one is a right-hand drive 2.0l 6 speed trans.
I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee the alarm system won't let my car start it strarted making a clicking noise while I was driving and all the lights inside and outside the car are flashing even without the keys in the ignition til the battery goes dead even trying to jump the car won't work the car still will not start I need help to figure out what to do the car did not come with the key chain box to stop the alarm from doing this
I'm having similar problems and I was told to replace the idle control valve. If you have gotten the problem fixed can you please let me know what you did to fix the problem. Thanks!!
John Akers Did u figure it out after all?
