This is a compilation of images generated using Grok2 on X and took about 5 minutes. It’s about 5 minutes long, hope you find it as amusing as I do. Watch it, some of the cats are funny, one even has 2 heads. Grok2 came up with most of it, I never added the word scorpion but it put one in there. Oh well, enjoy. Thanks for watching.

Garden Update 01/07/2025

After 4 nights of temps in the 20s, below -3C or -5C, or less once you figure in the winds, I was amazed to find chilis still ripening. Yes, some were basically mush while others just looked like they were in the fridge. This being my first year growing this many plants I’m still learning. Before I forget to mention it, several types of chilis really amaze me. When looking at all of the long de...

Not the smartest thing I’ve ever done but I had to know what would happen if I ate a few chilis on an empty stomach, along with canned ravioli, and a couple of beers, 4 to be exact. Quick Look at the plants, sorry the bright sun made it impossible to see where I was pointing the camera. Not a bad harvest, I don’t even remember how many I’ve gotten but I’m guessing around 8 so far. The plants must be happy they keep producing. As far as multiple plants per bag, yes, the plants may be smaller as well as the fruit, but I’m glad I did it.

    Don't forget you can always reuse the old dirt! If your county has compost available for free, you can use that to amend the soil. You can also create free plant juice by keeping a big barrel of rain water with all sorts of organic material decomposing in the water. With just grass/leaves/weeds from the yard/table scraps including meat products.

    If you're able, try slappin up a white shade cloth. Transitioned mine from greenhouse to partial shade (Black)to overcast days, then moved them under a white one. Pricey, but I have so many peppers! XD Need a bigger one as most peppers are bunched together, but they're monsters now! Shisito, Jalepeno M, chiles, and Anaheim going full blast. 30ish shishito off of one plant(first harvest). Anaheim is over 4 ft. White Shade Cloth! Apparently it's way better for flowering...first time growing peppers believe it or not! I've had a couple sudden wilt failures that I'm trying to understand. Each one I moved to full sun for a day. Only change I made. Did it twice like a dummy. Sudden wilt on both...sun shock? They don't seem to be coming back =(

      I went from 5-1-1, twice, to 10-10-10, to 10-30-20, to 12-15-30 depending on amount of fruit and flower. Only watered them when they asked. Only about 6-7 times to the time I saw fruiting from March to beginning of July (And then this torrent of continuous rain that lasted up until the past couple days) Now I'm fighting powdery mildew on everything else. I think the combination of Jacks blossom booster and white shade did for me though. Usually it's not that cut and dry but...I think it changed the game for me.

      Also could be a sign of calcium deficiency! I used half peat half black cow, pearlite and verm and balanced the ph with garden lime so there's my calcium! You could also give them a light cal-mag foliar spray. Pretty sure I snuck that in before flowering,...but if you've lost your flowers, nothing to lose eh!

      I agree, my issue was first that more seeds germinated than I expected and my plan to give the excess plants to a friend to take to the local farmers market didn’t work out and I wasn’t about to just kill them. So I decided to do a test so I have first hand knowledge and experience as to the ‘what if’ question. So far, I have single plants only doing slightly better than doubles and even a few with three trying to catch up. The fact that so many have made it this far was unexpected, but now I know.

I understand you're currently having a box of peppers you have to work through in time, right? So these videos are not prerecorded with longer breaks between the taste tests, no? I am knew to superhots but I’ve been eating whatever I can get at the store for a long time. Anyway, once I got my boxes I wasn’t about to waste them. I ate almost all of my first box, except duplicates then dehydrated the rest. The second box is almost all unique peppers, only blood ghost has dupes and I want to try them all. I only put one video on a schedule and it is obvious, that one was the KSLSB and that was because I wanted to try it. That day I had no intention of doing both peppers but, they got soft so fast. I know you are correct about spacing these out but wasting peppers is a more ominous thought that gas and a belly ache. Which hit me again last night. Not like last time though. Also, I know now that 75% of my pain and nausea is coming from gas and maybe 25% is capsaicin heat burning it’s way through my system. That will be a video I make later today. I’m so certain because after the first big battle a few days ago I was ready last night, and this morning for what may and did eventually come to pass.

    I don't think I ever had those cramps... Heavy salivatiing and almost vomiting, yes! But gas? Weird... Whenever I plan to eat a super hot, I always use this as an excuse to gorge myself on rich fatty food. But the key ingredient for me is about 250 grams of rolled oats in about half a liter of high fat milk shortly before I eat the pepper. I feel like the beta glucan of the oats form a protective layer on my insides. Thank you for this "community service"/PSA on pepper preparedness!

    • @ScorpionsNestPeppers
      @ScorpionsNestPeppers Год назад

      Thanks for adding your experience. Some folks say eat a banana before, others peanut butter, yogurt, now rolled oats and I’m sure there are many more, but one common thing seems to be milk. Some say to also immediately follow the peppers with more food. I even heard lime juice helps. My first experiences with peppers hotter than habanero was as you said, ‘heavy salivating and almost vomiting’ and this is where what my doctor said overlaps. That sick feeling is ‘gas’ or air trapped in the stomach which somehow triggers the salivating and nausea, if I didn’t conflate a few things. For me, just after this part always came that dreaded gas pain which seemed to just be the next step. Nothing too bad, just pass it and it is over, both the first and second parts. This is why I couldn’t understand how folks were spending the night doubled over in pain as the waves of cramps rolled through. My experience this time started the same; I had prepped with a banana then ate one pepper then 3 hours later 2 more with no food in between to speak of, then I went through as mentioned before with a time gap which almost perfectly matched the space between peppers and boom! I’m convinced that not having something put in my belly immediately prior to the second peppers was the issue for me, eating only the banana was not enough before the first pepper and I still experienced that salivating and nausea part but no pain. So, FOOD, greasy high fat food and milk or otherwise IMMEDIATELY before is the answer so far. Come on folks, add to this.

Haven’t thrown up yet, but yeah…..was in the fetal position the other day with pain worse than the time I had a 4-wheeler land on my lower back….or anything els really painful I’ve done….it’s not always that bad, but when it’s bad….it’s bad. I haven’t had a real bad case of fire hose…but I have had it. My inner tolerances are still not used to eating this hot of stuff, so I’ll likely have reactions for a while, but at least I can eat habaneros without much issue now. I still prep them some though. Too nervous to get the cap cramps.

      I’ve only been eating superhots for 2 weeks so I guess I should have expected it. I’ve been researching this for this reason. It seems it’s nothing more than a belly ache from gas according to everything I’ve found. We swallow air, it builds up and adds to it. There just seems to be a lot of moving pieces.

      Technically it was 3 pods, the Gator Jigsaw came first, then when I found I was getting squishy pods I decided to pound down two squishy ones. Well, as it turns out it was too much for me too! At least I now know what cap cramps are, and it SUCKS! It looks like my doctor and I were both half right, gas is involved, at least for me. I ate the 1st pod about 6pm, then the other 2 about 9pm and had zero issues but decided to sit up later just in case. About 2 am I had to go to the bathroom. It didn’t seem unusual, AT FIRST, but it just didn’t stop and soon I got gas, about like has been my experience over the last 2 weeks since my first superhot. It sounded like thunder over here for about 15 minutes and I thought it was over, boy was I wrong. I think I’ll do a video on it tonight.

    Interesting that the beer didn’t taste good with the pepper. I usually drink an ipa though, so flavors are likely different. I remember gator jigsaw being unusual and tasty myself. Hoping to eat more next year.

      It may be the tuna and crackers combined with everything else. I really wasn’t expecting a problem. I am an IPA fan myself, my favorite beer is Arrogant Bastard but have not been able to afford it in years, now, I buy cheap stuff.

    I remember the off pheno Thanos being a pretty great pepper. I remember it being pretty darn hot too. Since I remember liking the taste, I’m definitely growing it. I’ll be keeping an eye on yours too if you end up growing them yourself. Never know what you’re gonna get with potentially new crosses.

      Yes it’s a good one, my first scotch bonnet in years. I don’t even remember when I had one before but that’s a name you don’t forget. Might have been one of those times at the beer joint with buddies, that’s my excuse.

    Yeah. This is one of my favorite pods! If you get a chance to try a Tangerine TS, it’s another one I would recommend. It’s got good heat and citrus fruity as well.

    Not sure what it is you’re tasting exactly, but I know some peach chinense pods can have a sort of grapefruit peal bitterness to them, that’s not a full bitterness, but is still somehow bitter? Like I said though. Not sure what flavor you’re talkin.

    • @ScorpionsNestPeppers
      @ScorpionsNestPeppers Год назад

      I don’t think is was grapefruity, or bitter, it was kind of just an odd twang if you will. Sort of what might go through your mind if you ate an actual grub worm, just weird.

    Tried a bunch of anti-gas, and stomach meds to try to help. It’s not gas, however I do notice bloating sometimes and take care of it right away. For me, cap cramps and gas feel very different. Never once had a stomach ache come even close to cap cramps. That includes my after surgery for appendicitis…cap cramps hit different. You’ll know if you get them. It would be cool if you just don’t get cap cramps though.

    Yeah. This one got intense. Caught me off guard. The possible delays in burn and such is the main reason I do longer videos now. Ever since the chocolate atomic reaper came back with a vengeance after I stopped recording…not quite the same as your situation, but similar. It does happen. Honestly, you never know how you’re going to react until you try it for yourself, since they hit people in different ways.

      I know what you mean, I’ve had the same variety from the same source hit me two different ways and I’m new at this. I don’t have much to say and can’t see folks sitting staring at me waiting on my hair to catch fire or something. I think I’m getting used to it. I’ve filmed a lot of video for others using real cameras back in the day, never would I imagine being on the other side.

    I remember thinking chocolate swamp thing had an unusual savory flavor. Pretty good stuff though.

    • @ScorpionsNestPeppers
      @ScorpionsNestPeppers Год назад

      Chocolate Swamp thing surprised the heck out of me. It was sweet like candy, for a millisecond or two, then it warmed up. The pepper I thought had the strangest taste was a habanero, many years ago, but I liked the heat and added it to marinades, sauces, etc. just for the heat but it grew on me. I’m learning every chinense has a similar twang to it that I recognize from the habanero and that more than the heat might turn folks who love jalapeños away. Right now I have my ‘leftovers’ that started to get soft in the dehydrator and the whole house has that aroma.

    Looks like a blood ghost to me. I quite enjoy the blood ghost, though the one I’m remembering might have been crossed…..either way, definitely worth growing. Hallows eve and Black panther are from the same cross and are also pretty cool.

      I’ll have to find those next year. This year I’m saving for more goodies like heat mats, more soil, more grow bags, shade cloth, you name it. This is fun and looks like it’s worth it. I love peppers and I’ll at least end up with that. :)

      @@ScorpionsNestPeppers I didn’t grow blood ghost this year. But the hallows Eve tastes sweeter in my opinion. It’s a tiny bit milder and fruity

    • @ScorpionsNestPeppers
      @ScorpionsNestPeppers Год назад

      @@BADGEDBACON I need to try those then, this blood ghost was pretty tasty. I’ll be eating this box from Phish and know how time flys by, and you gotta put soft peppers in the dehydrator before they go bad before I get more. I didn’t eat that Rhino DD, it was getting really soft. I have it nice and dry now though. I hope I remember which one it is to harvest seeds. Was it a tasty one? I’m also going to have to realize that ghost peppers have a serious time delay for me. While I’m enjoying the flavor I don’t feel so much heat, yes it’s hot, but it mellows out and tricks me that it’s over, only to come back as soon as I stop the video. I’ve got a non-chilihead wanting to know about this pepper. So in case I didn’t say so elsewhere, yes this was hot, it’s a ghost pepper, just a tasty one.

      Sounds interesting does it taste much different? The red ghost I got from you and this one were similar. I think the red may hay been sweeter from what I remember, but the red was a longer delayed reaction that’s for sure.
