Glad things are going well for you Rebecca! You sound much happier!! Great to see you making videos again. Sugar free is the only thing that keeps my weight down. I can't even be trusted with sweeteners. Once I don't touch any of that bad stuff it's the easiest diet in the world for me xx
Sugar Free is easier for me too. I find it easier because it takes that choice out of options. I might eat some very occasionally out of the house but my meals and snacks don't need it. :)

It has been tough with the changes but I think life is better now. Even if the shifts are a bit all over the place. We have more down time now and I do feel more ready to make more conscious lifestyle choices to help me lose this bit of weight. It has taken some cajoling of my brain though! It is very reluctant to give up its creature comforts so I am focusing on slimming world comfort foods and plenty of coffee and chilling out. :)

Hi Rebecca. Just put 8 jacket potatoes in the oven to freeze later, made myself a coffee and sat down with RUclips. I was thrilled to see you had uploaded. Your videos always leave me with something to think about and I inevitably nod throughout lol. You are right to take SW apart. I believe that when we come to a place where we can see how the plan works, we can then put our faith in it. There is no doubt that it does work, but we both know that we have to be willing to work with it. Calorie counting would really make me compulsive. I’m so grateful that I can’t use My Fitness Pal or I would drive myself crazy. My experience of calorie counting was that my insane brain didn’t want me to eat all day so I could conserve those calories for the evening. I would spend the evening calories on junk and go to bed full of guilt and usually hungry. I couldn’t sustain that for very long and it would lead to me binging on everything I thought I had been deprived of. When someone told me that calories are allowed to be up to 10% out, I had to reduce mine by 10% just in case the figures I was using were 10% over. I’m totally bonkers when it comes to dieting which is why SW has helped me so much. It just makes sense to me in 99% of the things it advises I do. Stay safe and thanks Rebecca, you always help me. Hi Jane. Good idea to do the bulk jacket potato cook. Thanks for your kind words. We do have to be willing to work with Slimming World, you are right. We have to let it in and make it work for us. The flexibility of the plan is what makes it fit with anybody in my opinion. Calorie counting I am sure works for many people very effectively, but for me it is nowhere near as flexible as food optimising. I always get caught out at some point, and on slimming world I know I can just grab a piece of fruit to tide me over until I can get a proper dinner. I can get emergency food ready in 5 mins with a microwave and some linda macartney red onion and rosemary sausages, baked beans and a bag of salad. No counting, no measuring, no worries. If all goes terribly wrong and I have no scales available I know that I can just stick to free and speed foods and I'll be fine. Freedom and confidence. Brilliant video, thank you. Thats the best way of explaining flexible syns I have ever heard. I got so bogged down in thinking Ive failed and then I go on to throw the towel in. Seeing flexible syns as still being in control and making choices shows me that Ive not blown the whole day. People who eat normally have days when they eat more because of circumstances. Thats all Im doing and I should remind myself of that and cut the guilt Gx
Thanks Grace. :) I think it is that feeling of failure that flexible syns allows you to side step. And yes if we were to flexisyn everyday then we would come unstuck but we don't do that, so as you say people who eat normally do have the occasional day where they eat more than their usual diet and that is fine because they just naturally get back to their usual diet without a fuss. Having choice power lets us be in control of our own syn usage, and each and every day we practise to stay in the boundaries of the Slimming World plan. Some days it goes awry but we learn lessons and carry on practicing at the next meal. It is all a lot easy without the guilt that is for sure! Lots of love. Xxxx

Rebecca, you have such a gift for saying what I often think. I agree about not all consultants having the ability to explain the plan fully. I always think you can tell the consultants that ‘get it’ and ‘share it’ by their size. Not to be rude, but, they’re not all target members! I once went to a group where a dear lady had 15 syns. Yes, but she thought she could have 15 different items that had syns. She gained big in her first week which was sad and embarrassing for her. EE is simple, once we have our heads around it. Writing a food diary is an excellent tool. Variety is good, but that doesn’t mean we have to cook a different cordon bleu meal every night. The cook books are all much of a muchness and I now don’t look to what other members call Slimming World food. There’s no such thing. There’s just food that is compliant with the plan and food which must be synned. Free food is my friend on this plan and syns are my savvy extras, healthy extras give me weight boundaries for my nut milks and cereal choices. It’s not rocket science, but we do need to give it our proper attention and even if we did it years ago, we need to be prepared to be teachable. Loved this video. You always use such good common sense ideas and you’re not afraid to say when you struggle. Loads of love Jane xx

Yes, I do find it easier to view Slimming World food as plenty of Free and Speed food first as a priority and then moderated healthy extras and savvy syns. This really helps to cement the plan in its proper place of in the background while we get on with the business of living our lives. The habits get ingrained. It took me a little while to reingrain those habits but I think I am getting there slowly.

Thanks Bronwen. It took a little while to adjust mentally to my new situation but I do feel better now. In a funny way I have an opportunity now to be a full time mum again but with a much better outlook than when they were tiny so I can enjoy it so much more. I really make sure that I am putting myself first and taking time when I need it and ensuring that I don't get myself caught up in knots about obligations and guilt. Keeping my mental health strong and my outlook positive is very important to me to allow myself to get the most out of the sudden change in circumstances. Thanks again for your kind words. Xxxxxx

Hi Susan. Yes it all changed so much, it was a shock to the system that's for sure. But I am getting there mentally I think. good to see you again. Our consultant said it was because of all the sugar in the sauce for baked beans.SW would prefer that we eat beans in water. This was the same reasoning behind syns for tinned spaghetti in sauce. Have you tried pease pudding? We love that as well as the Stag veg chilli which is Free on SW Good luck with your endeavours Grace
That does make sense. I was looking at the calorie difference between baked beans and a tin of haricot beans and there is about 100 more calories in a tin of baked beans. Thanks for your input on that. Xxx

How fabulous to have a video from you. I am so appreciative of your ability to share what works and doesn’t work for you without piling on the excuses. This is an unprecedented time for us all and we need to do what we can do as individuals. No groups is not the end of the weight loss journey. The Zoon virtual meetings will be good for some. Personally, they are not for me but then social media is not something I lean towards. The virtual meetings will be £2.50 per session (£2 for the consultant and 50p for head office). I am sure this will be the bridge that some people need to keep them in the tribe! I am choosing to take it one day at a time and do the best I can with my food and exercise. We are still walking each day. It’s odd, we have never seen so many people getting out for a walk. Physical distancing is easy, when all else fails, cross the road! I like your trips to the shop, this keeps school and home separate and gives the children their daily exercise. We must all do what we can to alleviate boredom. This social isoation may well go on for weeks and we must not become blase about it. Take good care of you and yours. We love you loads Jane and Joe x x x x
Thanks Jane. The weather has been kind to us and has been sunny for the last 3 days so that made it easier to walk! It is nice to be on a more relaxed timescale. You are right that we have just got to do the best we can with our circumstances. I think that every day I can just see what I can do. Keeping away from the kitchen as much as possible, preparing food ahead and self support is my plan at the moment. Lots of love to you both. Xxx

Thanks Janice-Ann. I do feel like I have a better handle on my habits. I do respond better if I can appease my instant reward brain. I can put a lot of effort into work and jobs and that sort of thing without much reward but I am such a emotional eater and so I rarely eat from hunger! Slimming World is a very good way to be able to see trigger moments and tricky situations and there is no need to be hungry so all you are left with is trigger points to be seen.
How lovely to watch your latest video, Rebecca. The way you explain your approach to SW is very easy to understand. Your weight almost mirrors my own and so it came at just the right time. I hope you are able to upload more updates as you make progress. In my opinion, it is not necessary to attend the SW classes as you are well versed with the plan and weighing daily is very motivating. Sending love
Thanks Bronwen. :) I think that weighing every day allows me to take each day at a time. I know how to do Slimming World so it allows me to drop it into a background event. Keeping to plan can then just be a constant in my life rather than something I am chasing. Therefore if I go over my syns one day due to life happening I can snap back to plan as it is an ingrained habit that I can think very little about. I struggle getting to group as every Monday there is always something else in life that needs to be done as it is the only week day available to me.
Great video, think I am in the same place as you at the moment, can’t seem to get back on track after christmas, doing bits and pieces, but need to stop making excuses, which I have been doing. Think the only thing that is stopping me piling the weight back on is that I am still intermittent fasting on week days and think this really helps me. Keep up the good work, you will soon be back on track , looking forward to your next video and hearing how it is going, btw, you are looking really well :)
Thanks tiggasmum. I think the excuses are the minds way of looking after ourselves. My mind just wants be to be safe and content. It can't really comprehend that being at my target weight is a safe and content thing, until it gets there. Even the memory of once being there is not enough for it. It wants instant safety and contentment. I find my best successes with the mind battle are when I say to myself, "I understand you are scared, and I understand that you want to look after me, but using food as the only crutch is not going to help us. We need to carry on using non food rewards and take care of ourselves in other ways." Then I find I will still use food as a comforter, but also other things too. On Slimming World there is plenty of comfort foods that I try and take advantage of like, jacket potatoes and beans and salad and cheese, or noodles and stirfry, or eggs beans tomatoes and veg sausage. It doesn't always work to plan but I try to have a plan that I am working to at least. Anything that keeps us in the healthy weight bracket with a reasonable relationship with food has got to be a good thing.:)

lovely natural raw advice Rebecca! I cannot for the life of me understand all these ex Slimming worlders who have turned to calorie counting, you cannot live your life by tracking foods constantly can you :P x As long as you are sensible on SW, ignore all the faddy stuff and use your common sense that you cant eat free carbs etc until you cant stuff your face with them anymore, then you will lose weight and it will become common basic sense that eating SW way can become normal and natural and you will be able to mantain easily x
Thanks for your kind words Alison. I do find that Slimming World naturally limits my appetite. I enjoy my food but if a meal is food optimised then I really do feel satiated, and I know I am full. Sometimes I falter in my faith in the plan, but I dabble in other things and come back to it soon enough. It is the best thing for me, and it really is the only thing that has ever worked for me. And even though I am struggling, because of all those good habits I had accumulated, the gain I have is really not that bad. Only 6lbs up from top end of target. Food optimising works for me. Xxxxx

Hi Rebecca was just thinking about u - lovely to hear from u. Give urself a pat on the back still in 10st bracket whilst not having a home ur in charge of for months. I have had nearly 2 months of turmoil with no electric & heating, sharing a home no food plans on some days eating on the go etc etc. I'm pleased I maintained & didn't overeat. I kept on top of batch cooking it was the lunches some days i forgot to plan a meal then junk food sets in. I'm sure once ur settled the food plans & habits can change again. I'm with u politics wise I'm still in shock but we have to move on. Wishing u all the best for Christmas & New Year.

Oh Rebecca, we do love you! Thank you for always keeping it real, being so honest and not making excuses. You were just what I needed to hear this morning and Joe shouted through from the kitchen..... Is that our Rebecca? Like you, I know how it feels to clam up. I hold everything in until it comes out physically. This morning I am bent double with a bad back. This is as a result of stressing over Christmas and extended family. I need to learn to let go before it gets to this stage. Like you, I need to properly get back into my grooves and reignite my good habits. We have crazy heads, but good hearts. Good luck with everything. You and Robin are fabulous hard working role models for your children. Last Thursday was a disaster! I live in a strong Conservative area, Ken Clarke was my MP until Boris booted him out. A huge majority was slashed here by Labour, but not enough for them to take the seat. Labour did not come to my door, but the Lib Dems turned up nearly every day. They got thrashed here. Anyway, enough politics, now we need prayers. Hi Rebecca. Gosh you have done amazing considering all you have been through and you also look amazing. You seem to be on the right track with regards to how you are going to approach your way forward just remember when going forward sometimes we have look back and see how we can move forward even if it is painful take your strength from the knowledge you have knowing that you are a very strong woman who has kept her family together and works very hard at putting them first. I love how honest you are, I think you should write a book to support people’s slimming world journey, I think people honestly don’t know they are making excuses, I think your videos are very insightful and certain aspects of them, like this one, are really helpful to people, I also think you would make a good slimming world consultant, I think some people wouldn’t like your honesty, but the members who did, would do really well. I don’t go to a group, it isn’t my thing, I went to one and was frustrated that things were not being pointed out to people, I just do mine on line and watch your videos, if you ran a group I would definitely join :)
