Old forester 1920 is so smooth and the burn you get from higher proof whiskeys is not there. And it’s very sweet in a good way

I am not a Jim Beam fan. I’ve never been satisfied with Beam’s $20 lineup. This is a very good bourbon in my Old Fashioned. Is it the rice grain that makes the difference? My palate has favored wheat bourbons. Maybe the use of rice has the same effect.

How about a Wild Turkey 101 Rye with maple syrup, bitters and Grand Marnier. Sweet & spicy.

All of them are great in an old fashioned. My personal favorite is mitchers single barrel rye. Its a little lower in proof so i just add 2.5 ozs instead of 2. Thanks and cheers 🎉🎉🎉

Thanks for the reviews. You started off in the more practical and realistic realm of the obtainable bottles, until you brought out the blantons. From there i knew i was in for it. Here in SW Michigan, unless you are willing to pay $100 plus, (for me personally) i haven't seen any bottle other than the basic blantons for less than that. Not to mention some of the other $200-$400 bottles. Luckily the ogd 114 and the occasional green river barrel proof is obtainable around me.

Can’t do plastic bottle won’t even drink WT 101 from the plastic quart bottles and I always have the bourbon and rye on my counter. Just me but if it’s in a plastic bottle I’m out. I’m okay with screw tops. And the other hit against this is the 40abv product haven’t bought one in 30 years. Even 45abv are few in my collection. I understand that this brand does come in 750ml glass bottles but they don’t hit around my area.

JTS Brown bib is a go to of mine. Can't beat the price for what you get. I love taking it on camping trips as it has a screw cap.

Most of the time I include a splash of Grand Marnier to my Old Fashion............makes it just alittle more special!! Cheers

like the video, appreciate the list, even allocated bottles need to be rated and reviewed. If i came across any of these bottles of course i'd buy them regardless but i would buy them for a different reason. to drink vs to sell.

Nice list! Completely agree with your choice of the Bulleit 12 Yr Rye. The most high end bourbon I like to treat myself to is Eagle Rare, simply can't afford to use EH Taylor when its over $125 as a mixer. I would recommend trying Penelope Valencia in your next Old Fashioned, especially if you enjoy orange citrus notes in your drink. Want to have a nice new experience? I have tried several dozen bourbons with a can of Vanilla Coke, and 80 proof JTS Brown is the King. I can buy a 1L bottle here in KC for $9.99 plus tax.

One of my drinking buddies prefers this with his Coke instead of Jack Daniels or Four Roses. I have had it ---- is a great inexpensive mixer when make large quantities of drinks for parties. Not my jam though for sipping neat! Cheers!

What’s interesting to me is I just got a bottle of the current No27 Gold, same box and bottle as you have there but which is labelled “Maple Wood Finish” as opposed to “Double Barrelled”. It’s kind of thin and watery as you describe, and yet when I had a bottle of the original “double barrelled” No27 Gold it had this incredible creamy texture and was the best JD I’ve ever had. It almost sounds like you’ve got the new version but in the old bottle. Shame I can’t upload photos here or I’d share a photo of the two side by side for you. Anyway… merry Christmas!

You are plain stupid to promote the secondary market. In most states it is illegal. Second people like you need to get the distillery to make brands more available. Guess you missed where BT was warehousing bottles. Personally I would not pay secondary. It is nothing but robbery
