How’s it doing now? Just downsized and got this
what do you do with the remaining saltwater you made? just store it? or do you have to dump it
@@fkchanel- I just store it. The day before I do a water change I’ll put a power head in the bucket to circulate it so the water is oxygenated. Also if you store it in the cold or hot weather make sure you have the temperature pretty close before you do a water change.
hi what bio fitter media do you use?
The only thing I used on this tank was filter floss and carbon. I did use chemi pure elite when my phosphates got too high
@@cooleyscoral3456 cool thanks for the reply. so did just your rock work as the biological filter? Thanks James
@@james3418 yes, once all the beneficial bacteria establishes itself that is all you really need
@@cooleyscoral3456 thanks for the reply I'm just starting a fluval evo and was thinking more biological media the better so I have 1kg biohome media ready to put it chamber 2 but yours has proved it's not essential thanks
Hey how do you get your waving hands to look like that mine is a mess and keeps spreading?
I want to get coral but i have the 67 watt hyger. I havent been able to keep anemones more than a month. Im not sure if the lights are too weak or what
What kind of UV sterilizer are you running?
Great looking tank! How did you handle the Dino’s?
Raising the heat to 79 (if I remember correctly) and UV sterilizer. Manual removal and UV should do the trick though 👍
@@cooleyscoral3456 ok great I appreciate it! I don’t have them right now but just for futer reference.
lovely!
Stock light good for lps?
Worked fine for me with the LPS I had in that tank. Hammers, frogspawn, and candy canes. I did lose my Duncans, they just never worked out. The candy canes did really good with that light.
Damn he never came back 😢
Why no live sand?
I've had the same tank for about as long . How's it going for you ? The reason I ask is , all the videos are 2 yrs ago .
Just warning ⚠️ you.zoas can let poly toxins .
I would think having 15lbs of live rock, and about 1 inch of live sand would definitely cut down on water changes. The bio gems, and the upgraded water filter basket with some good filter media, should help reduce water changes.
Once the tank was fully established I rarely had to do water changes. I found all I needed was a UV sterilizer and filter floss. It pretty much took care of itself. It did crash when I tried to move it to my new house.
@cooleyscoral3456 that's my plan to hopefully I won't have to do many water changes at all. I have 1 to maybe 1 in half inches of sand and 8lbs of live rock Did you use a wavemaker or a powerhead? What brand of a uv stabilizer did you use? Do you have anything for sake? Ty ty
Like you, I love the look of the stock setup. I want to keep it simple! This is great to see what you have had success with. Thanks.
Idk how you keep a gramma in a 13.5 Fluval I had to return mine because it took a bite out of my green chromis
Getting back into reefing. I’ve been doing fresh water for over 25 years. Only had one reef tank like 18 years ago. Just got this tank plan on keeping it stock (although the light pisses me off) glad to see this video
Oddly Walmart sells a nano tank gravel vac, with a built in primer. Great video, can't wait to get my Evo up and running someday (hopefully soon).
What happened to the channel? I was enjoying the Fluval Evo updates
hi congratulations it's amazing how long do you leave the light on
I keep a uv light on standby for this exact thing. However, I don't run the uv light unless needed. P.S. Tank looks beautiful, minus the Xenia (aka tank herpes).
WARNING: that Xenia will become your worse nightmare... them and Kenya Trees are weeds.
Hi Cooley, is this the fresh or saltwater version?
Preach !!! Money be tight
What are you using for filter media? Are you only changing out one part of the media or all of it? I only have the stock media right now but wasn't sure how much I should change it or if I should add anything.. Thanks
You're improvisation is freaking the cutest thing ever❤😊
Any video update??
How is you’re filter setup did you upgrade all that
Does it need a heater?
A heater is a must
@@cooleyscoral3456 thanks
@@cooleyscoral3456 i bought a 5 gallon with sand, a heater, thermometer, airstone as well as finishing it with premade saltwater. How often should I top the saltwater with freshwater and how much
You need to mark your water line in the overflow compartment of the tank. You will add fresh when the water level drops below the line. Probably every day you’ll need to add.
@@cooleyscoral3456 thank you
I like your style with this video. 🙂 As you know there are many videos by more experienced Aquarists on this tank. But your honest and open discussion is in many ways more valuable to someone starting out.
Thanks for the information. I have the same tank and it helps me understand what easy corals I can put in my tank.
Great video
Beautiful, did you start with fish or coral first?
Great video! Can you do a video about maintenance, the number of times you feed your fish and additives? Thank you so much
Sulitkah?
Do u run your return pump wide open or is it open half way
Thinking of getting this tank today and was put off by all the bad reviews regarding the light… This is the exact video I needed, thanks a lot for making it dude, I’m off to buy me that tank now… Also, your tank looks so nice. Exactly why I want one..
Corals that are too fancy for this tank are probably not for beginners anyways
@@kabirthepunjabi ive been keeping freshwater fish for 20 years, but a beginner for marine yes! my evo is now 4 weeks old and doing very well! i got 2 clowns, coral soon
I got a 5 gallon tank version of this lol
How’d you actually get the old pump out? I’ve been needing to clean grape algae out but can’t even get the pump out
my brother bother me watching this + i neeed headphones
i vant look these videos in la and so that ava max cooking something for me at the kitchen) in this terrible environment. just get me in la
Id be very interested to see what your PARs were throughout the tank with this setup. Would 100% do this to my 13.5 if i knew those numbers as I have some SPS in there that need good light!
I really needed your help my corals are melting every time I buy something
Is your tank cycled? Are your parameters in check? Nitrates and phosphates? Are you doing water changes with RODI water? Is your salinity good?
Everything is perfect by Canada corals my friend I just don’t know why they melted on me
I don’t know why my corals melted buddy
That is a awesome tank really thinking of purchasing this as my first saltwater tank always wanted one
Do you have a link for the led strip you added?!
Thanks! I’ve been nervous about using this tank as a quarantine tank but Yours looks great!
He wasn't talking about quarantine tanks though? And I wouldn't recommend anything smaller then a 20 gallon tank for quarantine , I don't quarantine fish though if they look healthy at the fish store with no signs of stress or ick then I take the gamble of putting the fish I like in my tank
Hey Cooley! good to see u back, your tank & everything in it looks really good. When I had a Fluval 13.05 I changed the pump for an Eheim compact on 1000 & it changed the flow altogether! 😀👍
Thanks for this, tank looks beautiful and this is a very helpful video. Great job!
