These young ladies were gold, especially McKayla who was pure perfection but seeing Karolyi's disgusting hag face after her vault sickens me. She and her husband not only bullied those women (then just girls) at their ranch but she actively knew about and did nothing while Nassar abused them. It's sickening to me that McKayla wrote just a few days before this vault Nassar was on top of her in her bed at Olympic Village abusing her, and she spent all night crying. The next day Alicia Sacramone (now on the selection committee for the 2024 team) told her to "shut the fuck up and never say that again" when McKayla brought told her about the abuse.

I remember that. I was SCREAMING at my TV - "THE HEIGHT! IT'S WROOOONG!!!"

Thee modern powerhouse gymnastics is amazing and impressive...but so much of the grace and artistry and fluidity has been lost in the sport. I miss gymnastics like this.

So a mistake was made in one sport and the entire 2000 games sucks? Pull your heads in. Yes it was unthinkable what happened but to put the 2000 Olympics as the worst is a joke.

Truly believe Shannon was robbed of the All Around Gold.

I hope they at least went easy on the penalties for the dismount based on how well she performed everything else. Like obviously that was out of character 🗿

Back to watch elite level vaults here in 2024 since besides Simone, everyone so safe and predictable now. Just one DTY after another. Yawn. Reward the Amanar risk and let these women demonstrate why they are truly elite.

I was a kid in gymnastics when Nadia won all those medals. She was such a phenomenon for the time - we all went from wanting to be Olga to wanting to be Nadia. The gymnasts today? I can't even imagine trying half the stuff Simone does easily, let alone the stuff that's named after her. Mad respect for all the amazing athletes that made the team. ❤
