Jonathan Daly (born January 14, 1942) is an American actor who is known in America for his roles in Petticoat Junction, The Jimmy Stewart Show, and C.P.O. Sharkey, and best known in Australia for being in the comedy duo "Delo & Daly". Delo & Daly In the 1960s, Daly formed the comedy team "Delo & Daly" with Ken Delo (later of The Lawrence Welk Show). They became friends while in the US Army, and began by performing at military shows. They became quite popular in Australia. They appeared as guests on In Melbourne Tonight, which was similar to America's Tonight Show, and later had their own Australian television variety show The Delo and Daly Show (1963-64),[1] which featured Australian and American performers.[2] Daly also hosted the television interview show Daly at Night in Melbourne. American television Daly first appeared on American television in guest roles in such series as Bewitched, The Flying Nun, and The Ghost & Mrs. Muir. His first regular character role was in Petticoat Junction, where he played game warden Orrin Pike, the love interest of Bobbie Jo Bradley (played by Lori Saunders). He later starred as Jimmy Stewart's adult son Peter Howard in The Jimmy Stewart Show, and as Don Rickles' immediate superior officer Lieutenant Whipple in the 1970s series C.P.O. Sharkey.[3] Daly has more recently appeared in Law & Order: Trial by Jury. Movies Daly had starring roles in the 1966 beach party movie Out of Sight,[4] and the 1967 World War II film The Young Warriors both for Universal Pictures. He filmed an unsuccessful slapstick comedy television pilot with Joan Staley called The Clumbsys. Daly also appeared in the Walt Disney live action films Superdad, The Strongest Man in the World, The Shaggy D.A., and Amy. Writer Daly wrote for the 1975 Andy Griffith series Adams of Eagle Lake.
I like to watch old movies and wonder if my dad ever saw them. He turned 12 the year this movie was in theaters, and it's the kind of humor he liked, so I like to imagine him walking to the theater in town and seeing it, if he had the money.
Great old movie. Thanks for putting it up!
wow...how times have changed. milton berle was terrible...just terrible
Fun and silly. The way the quips land, it makes me wonder if the script was originally intended for Bob Hope.
Entertaining, but then this is 80 years ago.
Really liked Milton Berle in this movie! Age 34.
Sweet comedy, but a bit contrived. No one is this stupid in real life.
Not quite there in this genre It was all Arlene !
The fog horn sounds like my cell phone quietly ringing on vibrate. 😆
This would be better without the video scan lines.
Uncle Milty haven't seen you since I was a kid. 😄🌿
At 6:35 she picks up the radio and carries it to the other room. I wonder how expensive a portable radio was in 1942?
have a better understanding of why milton berle was so famous. Thank you from Manhattan ©2024
Poor Arthur Lake just couldn't help being Dagwood!
It is criminal that the film's accompanying 12-cut soundtrack, released by Decca Records, hasn't been reissued on CD yet.
I never saw this one before! Didn’t realize Milton Burrell Acted in movies
Who, in their right mind, would inspect an old ship in the dead of night knowing that it had such an ignoble history, not to mention that there were no lights to see your way around. Murder most foul.
Love the old comedy thrillers like this that are smart and the dialogue has wisecracks. Stereotyping aside, this is a fun movie that sounds like it was a radio program or play originally.
Dagwood sure is stupid but funny .the poor guy is an accident waiting to happen
I love movies with Lynne Roberts in them.
Well worth the watch. I'd give it two bags of popcorn! Some of the jokes were corny but still, you had to stay with the film to catch all the comic references. Thanks for providing it, especially commercial free. The pacing was too tight for greedy interruptions.
Thanks
Thank you for telling me to rest in peace
A Good 🎥,Thanks 😀
Willie was always lots of fun.
Any Red Letter Media viewers thinkking "Milton Birle....I wonder how big ''legendary' actually is"
Old film great actor
The turtles at 53:10
Willie Best.....i have seen him in many of Charlie Chan Detec,Series and sooo many Old movies. He was great at playing.....a simpletom.....yet with such unforgetable manner hard to replicate.....i love finding him in many old films.....Sadly not much mention of his talent.....of course RACISM played a large part of the lack of interest-focus mention of his talent.....Thanks for the upload.
Milton Berle and Willie Best make a great team.
I like James Rockford's idea better. DASH OFF & LET SOMEONE ELSE FIND THE BODY.
I actually have a ZZR model that has never been opened so I know the model is complete. Have no idea what it is worth if anything , just having it is good enough for me.
Never seen a Milton movie but soon as I saw Willie Best I have to watch he was one FUNNY man.😂😂😂
Funny Over You!
Always a treat to find Milton Parsons in a one of his nefarious roles, the professor in this one. A bit more screen time than he usually gets.
I love slap stick. 😊
Uncle Miltie.
A mystery/comedy 👍👍👍 I highly cecommend it 10/10. Thank you for posting this movie.
Good film but, the amount of wise cracks gets exhausting.
23:29 --- Not Peggy Ann Garner . . . not Mary Beth Hughes . . . but SALLY ANN HOWES.
That's the youngest I've ever seen Milton Berle.
Right OFF the bat going into a spoooky old ship AT NIGHT !
Great cast!! I remember watching this as a kid on the afternoon TV movie after school. Enjoyed it as much this time as way back then. L0
What a funny movie! Who knew John Carradine could be so hilarious.
This should get more play; it moved so fast. That was how comedy moved back then.
Milton was quick and slick in this; smooth acting job too. Kind of a fun flick.
Brenda Joyce lived to be 92.
Oihh wow loved all these actors Milton Berle Joyce Willie Best John Sheridan etc etc just amazing actors who cud make you laugh with their acting Ty for uploading this wonderful movie These sorts of movies you won't regret watching them 🙂
