How To Unlock A Bike Roof Rack With Just Two Spokes

You just need two normal bicycle wheel spokes and a few minutes to unlock most bike and roof racks. You also need a few common tools to adapt the spokes so they become your new key. Leaking piston is a very common problem as these have ceramic pistons and they crack. You can probably get 30-40 bucks for them. You can try getting more but depends how much time you want to wait.

Great DIY. As probably mentioned by others, cooling the bearings in the freezer will provide some temporary clearance for easier installation. Also, just sacrifice the old bearings as the install press as it’s the exact size required. It would also help the efficiency of this DIY method even more to use ratchet wrenches/spanners if you have them. Nice to see people working on their own stuff as much as possible. 👍🏽

If someone still watches this video, 2:15 if you have double bearing setup, like my specialized camber elite, do not use this method, because there is lip between two bearings and trying to remove bearings with this method will destroy your frame. Check online if your bike have drawings etc. where you can check before trying it.

Buy the best bearings not only will they last sabstantially longer but the reduction in removal and refitting means that bearing apperatures will last longer so your bike shall last longer. From my years in engineering and decades runing an automotiv business SKF come highly recommended. Its all they make. They supply many motor manufactures and the majority of Trains. Yes they are more expensive than made in China bearings with your choice of brand on the box but SKF actually make the bearings and use only quality materials and processes. Chinese stuff usually looks and feels fine when new but materials are often poor. Many companies source from China because they are cheap hence parts are made down to a price. There are exceptions as when a major manufacturer sets up a manufacturing base in china using their own processes machinery and quality control standards EG Apple but the majority are not like that. A close second best is FAG again they supply the likes of Volkswagen BMW Audi Porche ETC. May well cost 2 or 3 times as much but will likely last 10 times as long. The book that came with your bike should have universal bearing numbers for the parts required though if your bike is old you may find the numbers are slightly different. IE 6802-RS is now 61802-RS or 61802-RS1 or 1RS, 688 is now 628-8-RS or RS1 or 1RS or 2RS or RS2, 6800-RS is now 61800-RS or RS1 or 1RS or RS2 or 2RS...... The RS means they are sealed with rubber seals both ends. Its handy to have rubber seals so you can re-pack with grease where is you have steel (2Z etc) covers you cant and you dont want them open else dirt shall get in and ruin the bearings.
