    Hello. Thank you for the wonderful guidance. I understand that you are not the author, but maybe you can help me. After 52 minutes, LIoyd assigns textures to IFC materials. I made the project in IFC format and then saved it in blender format. In it, I can't assign the IFC texture to the objects, it doesn't display correctly (just a solid color). Everything is fine with the new objects. Blender 4.3.2 Bonsai v0.8.0

    Hi again, I managed to fix the spaces, but now I am having a problem with floors. Firstly there is no IFCslabs listed in my project and as I create one it is not editable the way you are teaching here. I cannot move the edges so I tried to extend them but the result seems to be wired and not reasonable.

    Thanks for the video. Firstly I am not so sure why my comments are missing here?! As I mentioned before, it seems that BlenderBim does not work for me! I am facing many problems over and over. As I save a project and reopen it, all my elements get screwed up. For example some of my walls get duplicated or some get shortened or even missing altogether! I am about to give this up altogether. For the last effort, I may pay for archipack add-on to see if it works better and if that is also problematic I am going to drop Blender altogether.

      @@IfcArchitect dude, i've been waiting for this for years - being able to dimension straight to print will be a godsend of epic proportions - installed the latest BonsaiBIM this morning and been watching your vids as well - one thing i struggled with is the library thing, but i guess you need to build a library to have one - i'm not an architect, nut i was a builder for many years and now i'm doing renders for people, but what's been missing all along is the ability to dimension (and obviously alter those dimensions without having to redraw large sections) - so basically i want to be able to print plans *and* render (in compositor?) plans and setups with all the bells and whistles (lighting etc) - but having a BIM to aid with QS work etc is just the golden cherry on top - thanks for all your work so far - i'm getting there :)

    Thanks for the video. However, I’m feeling quite frustrated with Blender right now. Simple tasks like drawing walls, windows, doors, and slabs-things that are easily done in CAD, ArchiCAD, and Revit-are becoming a hassle here. I’m new to Blender and initially managed to use the Archimesh add-on to create a floor plan and interiors, which was okay. But later, when I switched to BlenderBIM to access project-based options for creating views, cross-sections, details, etc., I started facing problems I managed to create a floor plan, but for days now, I've encountered multiple errors, and the program keeps crashing. Most of the doors don’t create openings or don’t even show up, as if they’re hidden inside walls without openings. In Archimesh, this is done automatically with the auto hole feature, but with BIM, I’m not sure how it works. Sometimes it works automatically, but other times it doesn’t seem possible at all. Today, I installed a newer version hoping for better results, but now I’m even struggling to draw walls! It’s really frustrating. I’m considering if Archipack might be a better option. It’s not free, but maybe it’s worth paying for it instead of constantly dealing with these issues in BIM. Can Archipack create full design drawings?

      Hi Lando, When you open the IFC it does not import it, it loads the entire Ifc as a model which won't have the same materials as you previously setup model in Blender. What I would recommend currently is: when there is a change in your model, 1) Open the old IFC with the materials, 2) Open the new updated Ifc, 3) and copy across the elements that have changed. So that you just need to give materials to the new elements. The workflow is a bit different to Enscape and Lumion but it works well

    Why does it use capitals for name? Is that an IFC defined thing? I find naming conventions frustrating and verbose? Often overflowing the available screen space. Think of a song "DIRE_STRAITS-WALK_OF_LIFE" I would name DireStraits.WalkOfLife and it would be easier to read. Especially on a phone. I use Autocad Architecture and often the naming was so long it went well past the reading space. Do you really need a door for left and right? They are essentially the same product.

      It still lacks some ergonomy; if you master revit you'll still work way quicker and it will be easier for modeling, edit plans, quantity take off etc. Nevertheless mastering blender (in general) can be very usefull for architecture; freedom of modelisation, 3d viewport in real time very confortable to work with, great render engines... blenderbim aka bonsai is really worth to follow and support, and if you have to deal with IFC it's better than revit. Some other blender addons are really good to work with, like "section box" (not as quick as revit one but still good), "techsec", "CAD transform" (all around 20euros +/-). I would recommend to get a hand on blender, to support the cad/bim initiatives and bet in a bright future for those free from Adesk extortion/parasitism.

    I find it really exhausting to watch you select text and then read it aloud. I focus more on if you read it correct, than understanding the content and the updates. Really, I am half trough the video and must switch away as I cannot stand it... I mean, this is documentation that I can read through myself. You should reference the content and then show small or detailed examples to better explain the terminology. But don't read out the documentation 1:1. I can read it myself, I don't need a YT video for that 😉 So more "how does it work" instead of "what can it do".

    I really don't get it. They improved everything except the core user experience. We can't even draw a wall the same way we draw a cube, we need to click buttons, input number do rotate, it is a nightmare to actually try and experience designing. Even android home modeling apps does good jobs on it. 😢

    • @DanielDesigners
      @DanielDesigners 3 месяца назад

      I feel your pain, but you are not seeing the whole picture. Blender has a unique way of adding and controlling objects with the 3D cursor and has never had proper drawing tools. If you come from other 'architecture' software, this might feel wrong, but it’s not actually as bad as it might seem at first. I would also like to see more intuitive drawing-based tools in Blender, but that might require a bigger overhaul of the whole modeling system.

      @@neildavies43 Drawing a wall quickly is not issue in architecture softwares right now. It is the closedness, price and lack of development. In some cirmuntances also the lack of freedom in Design process. Blenderbim (now Bonsai) is becomming a gamechamger in these fields and quicker drawing is comming there eventually.

      @@DanielDesigners I've spent the evening having a go at Bonsai BIM and I'm just going to put it down, move on and maybe wait for the next update. You dismiss speed of drawing, but the principal reason for BIM is speed and accuracy of producing drawing information. Bonsai BIM needs to fundamentally address how information in inputted before it moves on to anything else or it'll never amount to anything. I actually strongly contest that it aids freedom in the design process, it's massively too clunky for that, it's like trying to produce a sketch using a 3D milling machine that only understands python.
