Replay will give you an idea if you have the right chart size. I recommend testing it out with something like a practice account. Topstep gives you one where it sends orders to rithmic and shows up in your rtrader acc. More realistic than sim or replay.

It is well known to financial industry insiders that dollar and tick bars are normally distributed, as opposed to time bars that have a fat tail distribution. If something is normally distributed it is much easier to predict. But you'll only hear this from pros.

@@HitAndMissLab I like tick charts personally. I just can't see how dollar bar charts are any better that tick or volume charts. Surely they're the same? Contracts have a dollar value. So surely a dollar chart looks the same as a volume charts. Unless you're looking at very long timeframes... In which case dollar charts will give a better impression of trends but a logarithmic tick/volume chart would too.

@@Kevergy5 I think that it all boils down to market structure. All markets are run by market makers and they have fixed money allocations. That translates into a fact that wen they reach some limit that we don't know they'll move the price. And that unknowable limit is always going to related to transaction volume. That's, at least, how I make sense of that.
