Electrodeless Ring Discharge History (since 1884!)
In this video I wanted to share the information that the scientific research can provide about recently-popular topic of plasma toroids. Plasma toroid, more formally known as "Electrodeless Ring Discharge", turns out to be well-studied at the beginning of the XX century by the scientific community, in particular by a prominent British physicist J.J. Thomson, the discoverer of the electron. I hope this information will prove itself useful to the modern builders and researchers of plasma toroid circuits.

Pulsed Power Electrical Explosions (Pulsed Shunts Part 2)

In the second part of this series I dive into the experimental area of the pulsed current measurements. High energy pulsed power systems nowadays are very common in many realms of science and technology, and to understand their behavior and operation, the shunts have to measure currents which typically peak at 10 kA - 1 MA. With the shunts of a suitable construction, one can perform current mea...

300 kV from bipolar setup and the difference between (+) and (-) corona

Update 09.2019: I have conducted the direct measurements and turns out that the voltage here actually was about 298 kV! Thank You SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Much Man I have tried sooo many ways but your video finally gave me the means I was looking to get a stable controlled corona discharge,,,I always assumed it was my power supply that was the issue but it seems it is the charge pump of your double gap discharger is what makes this possible

    You can use this discharge to produce nitric oxide then use that to make nitric acid. It works very well. Use a glass tube around it with foil as the feedback capacitor and pump dry air through it. Have the gasses collect cooled and bubbled through distilled water. Collect the gas left over and cycle it through a condensor and cold trap dryer. ❤

    so the corona discharge only happens at the positive terminal. that is good to know. as with my field propulsion experiment I can use negative high voltage to prevent corona discharge. correct?

    • @Vidduley
      @Vidduley 3 месяца назад

      I don't think you're completely correct. The corona happens at both ends, it's just very different in visual appearance. The current in both positive and negative coronas is the same, as this is one continuous circuit in which ions transfer the current through the gas. Watch my video titled "Measuring current in positive and negative DC corona".

    I see you like to test different corona discharges. So I can suggest you an experiment: a magnetohydrodynamic drive that propels an aircraft, that’s a corona discharge which interacts with magnetic field. So the concept is as following. Install two corona emitter electrodes in front and on the back of your craft; supply the electrodes with co-linear field coils (or permanent magnets) in order to stretch two coronas as far as possible in the opposite directions so this way you’ll have wider semi rings of air current sideways. On the left and right sides of the craft you should have electromagnetic coils or permanent magnets to push down both semi rings of air current; if the front electrode is positive and back is negative then the left side must be a north magnetic pole whereas the right side is south magnetic pole. According to Flemings’s left hand rule the air will be propelled downwards thus pushing the craft up. This concept seems more advantageous than so called “ionocraft” because the latter consumes a lion share of its potential payload with a big array of corona electrodes whereas the concept that I just offered uses vast air flux cross section without need to stretch any grand electrode arrays; it basically makes a “virtual ventilator” of much bigger size than the craft itself. I have subscribed to your channel. It would be great pleasure to see my idea tested. Thanks in advance.

    The "K2" in the Paschen curves is not potassium ("in gaseous form"), it might be a badly printed "H2," i.e. hydrogen (or maybe misread and misspelled by the type setter, as there is some similarity in shape between a a capital H and a K?). The "A" (or maybe it's a Cyrillic "D"?) might be Helium??? Or maybe Ar?

I bought it in a store here in Russia. The capacitor I assume you mean the greenish one that is next to the transformer? That's a resonant polypropylene capacitor K78-2 which is somewhat analogous to CBB81. Also bought in a store here locally.
