That's why she felt sorry for them and felt like she owed them. Bert and Reiner were risking their lives and she stole their powers, which created some happiness in her life. So she decided to repay her debt by giving control of the Jaw Titan back to Marley.

In the scene with the Brauns, they looked horrified because their propaganda had them convinced the islanders are irredeemable savages. When Reiner humanized them and said they all had their own quirks and personalities, and the worst he could say about those irredeemable savages was minor things like he said, his Aunt was horrified that he was humanizing them, and Gabi was confused as to how they don't seem to be like complete total savages like she was taught.

At 10:33, AOT evokes almost the same feelings for about 95% of watchers. For a brief moment you are lost in everything and you forget Armin is a Titan shifter and you’re shocked when he’s shot. Then it hits you and relief hits. The music is done so well leading up to that moment and then it cuts off. Brilliantly done

So Paradis is the first one to nuke the entire world in "self defense" and overdo it just to ensure that their enemies are completely wiped out.
