Whatever you feel comfortable working out in. Don’t just bring jeans. I would maybe try to stay away from leggings, yoga pants, and biker short because they are more form showing. Think conservatively. Jogger pants and looser shorts. The biker shorts and spandex type of shorts are good for underneath your OCP pants as well as your PT shorts that they issue you. The PT shorts have a built in cover area that you’re not allowed to cut it out at basic training, it can be tight and cut in to your skin. I hope that helps. I didn’t regret joining, but I was definitely worried about leaving my daughter for that long. I knew it was the best thing for us though.

I didn’t join with a dependent, I got pregnant after I had enlisted. My situation was very out of the ordinary.

Its been 4 months. How is the Air Force?

I have a roommate now. It was just the timing and order in which they assign rooms.

I was on the winter schedule so we got one shower every day and ranged from 10 minutes to 40 minutes depending on the schedule for the day and how our MTI’s were feeling. I believe summer schedule gets two showers per day but I’m not positive.

When I went through BMT they were not giving the Covid vaccines yet. In tech school we are now given the option to get it but it is not mandatory.

They used to have you get your OCP’s the first week that you’re at BMT. Now due to COVID, they wait until the 3rd week of training.

So the first few days you’ll wear your civilian clothes that you packed. You should be issued your duffel bag with all your PT gear within the first week. That’s what you’ll wear until you get your OCP’s.

Nothing involves swimming in BMT. If you pick a job where you fly, you may need to do swimming but I’m not 100% sure. BMT is not hard. Tech school, depends on what job you pick. If it’s too hard for you they’ll reclass you to something more your speed.

@@meandbaby4833 Air Force lets you choose jobs after BMT or did you choose during the MEPS process? Getting current info about not getting job choice options joining the AF. Am also transferring from the Army so that might be a reason.

@@nanzistnt2573 I joined the Air National Guard so I had my job picked out prior to leaving for basic training. Depends on your recruiter and the process you go through. Some of the girls in my flight in basic did not find out what job they got until we were close to graduating.

Unless you have a special forces job, but for most things they require you to pass swim tests before you even get the job, but again this is only for special forces jobs like PJ.

I'm still trying to figure that out myself. It's different for me because I'm in the guard and not active full time yet. So I go back home once I'm done tech school. I will definitely be making more videos geared towards that kind of stuff once I find out the answers myself.

It depends on your tech school. There's supposed to be six months from when I left to when I get to go home, between BMT and my tech school, but for my job I can work ahead and possibly get home sooner. Covid restrictions are starting to lift, so she could technically come visit with me now, but we're waiting for me to go home. There were two other women in my flight that were single moms. The one had a set of twins. So it's definitely doable. Good luck! I hope that answered your question.

There was less yelling than I expected. They really only yell at you for safety reasons. Like hold on to the hand rail on the stairs, put your cap on (so you don’t get burned), you’re out of step or turn the wrong way while marching. All safety related. BMT is now 7 1/2 weeks instead of 8 1/2.

@@meandbaby4833 I’m about to join soon, my biggest concern is passing the PT test, as of right now I am currently training for the PT portion although i still feel like I won’t be able to pass it , I feel like I’m mentally prepared but at the same time I have no idea what to expect and I guess that thought is very nerve wrecking to me.

@@kattsue6784 I was honestly really nervous for PT before I went to BMT, and stressing over it the entire time I was there, which should hopefully be in my next video. But I passed. They’re not trying to fail you. So if you go in with a positive attitude and put in the effort, you’ll do fine.

No it was a different girl who tested positive in the second week. She didn’t get recycled, she was just moved to quarantine for almost two weeks and then rejoined our flight at the beginning of fourth week.

I went during the winter months so I packed all gym attire. The cargo shorts should be fine. You just want to make sure it’s something that you will feel comfortable in. The two and two pairs should be good. Just make sure you get your flight to do laundry the first day or two of being there and don’t let them wait until Sunday of the first week. Let me know if you have any other questions. I know the packing list isn’t the best.

Highly suggest memorizing it before you leave. You’ll need to know it often. And the laundry mark is just the first initial of your last name and the last 4 of your social so it’s not too difficult. By the end of BMT some people know everyone’s laundry mark in the flight.

@@DavidEVogel honesty … the fastest 6months of my life 😂😂 it’s not too shabby I will say that I’ve made TONSSS of friends for life , I’m still adjusting I’ll tell you that , but I think it was the best decision I made
