That neck pickup is wild
First you have them upside down, second the pads are to protect the guitar finish and not the strap, third they are plastic with some metal components.
@RsSquier51 thanks for pointing out that they are upside down and the rubber parts are to protect the finish. The metal inserts hold up well and the Rok Loks have held up for every tour I have used them on. Thanks for watching and the comment.
As a Lifelong fan of this band since Nocturnal, they’ve always been so incredibly consistent and have dropped amazingly crafted albums such as Ritual, Nightbringers, Miasma and my favorite being 2007's masterpiece of Nocturnal, The Black Dahlia Murder are definitely one of the undisputed kings of modefn death metal. This track on the other hand, you can definitely detect the tight musicianship, stylings, arrangements and the guy's have done such a remarkable job keeping the traditional formula from past releases, but more emotionally charged, more tighter, and I won't lie that I've gotten really emotional not hearing Trevor's vocals or presence since his passing. Brian's not only continuing Trevor's legacy, but the rest of the guys have also played a huge phenomenon into showcasing everyone that they're not slowing down anytime soon. I cannot wait to get a promotional copy of this album and give my perception when I'm able to.
I agree TBDM has a strong catalog and they have released nothing but solid album after solid album and Nocturnal is a classic and I really like Everblack. I definitely noticed the difference in vocals and Trevor will always be the voice of the band in my opinion. However, I think they are carrying on the legacy of the band in the most respectful and fitting way that it could have possibly be done. I'm interested to hear what your thoughts are on the album when it drops. Thanks for watching and the comment. Cheers!
The only man deserving of an ego the size of Saturn.
Lucas is a great guitarist and songwriter as well as a good dude. I toured with RoS in 2022 and they were nothing but kind, courteous, and professional. Lucas, Joel, and Ryan. Thanks for watching and the comment. Cheers!

@@mattmillerguitar liked playing there very cool place
Totally agree about the solos coment, So many bands screw them up live even Maiden
Playing solos note for note is definitely important and just as important as the vocals. Thanks for watching and the comments. Cheers!
@@mattmillerguitar Thanks for the great content man!
Incredible playing man! I just saw Cannibal Corpse in Phoenix, great show. After playing mostly thrash, Im going to setup a guitar for CC stuff, I believe mostly in G#...
That's awesome you saw them recently. I am a huge fan as well. I am a little bummed that Pat is no longer in the band but Erik is a great guitar player. You are correct. They tune to G# as well as A#. Thanks for watching and the comment. Cheers!
Just add Nicholas Barker and everything will be perfect again! 😢🥹
I completely agree! Nick should be back in Dimmu. Galder is working on a new OMC album and it would be awesome to have Nick on it.

ELEMENTS!!!!!!!!
The back story about how the album was made is crazy. They spent minimal time and like Kelly said it may have been for the better. Cheers!
@@mattmillerguitar I think Frank Emmi brought a lot of that jazz influence on Elements
@frankmartin9958 Elements was a great album and I think it pushed Atheist beyond death metal. The drumming on Elements is phenomenal. Thanks for watching and the comment. Cheers!

@@hectorescobar9450 Elements is a great album!
Cool interview. It's a bit sad to hear how Chris has Obscura ideas queued up knowing how he recently posted that he got booted and told he actually was only considered to rejoin as a session musician... I'm sure he'll find a good space for the material eventually though.
Christian has been back in Obscura for a while now. He recently stepped down from Alkaloid and Justin Hombach (Eternity's End) has taken over the 2nd guitar spot. When did he post about leaving Obscura?
@@mattmillerguitar he mentioned it on Facebook in a discussion I think it was under the Alkaloid leaving post. Funnily enough I can't see his comment anymore, maybe he deleted it.
@@philippr6107 Maybe he did? Either way I'm glad he is still in Obscura.
@@mattmillerguitar the Valediction album was great for sure. We'll see, if he is staying after all, or if the comment he made there will turn into a proper announcement of him leaving. Would be a pity for sure.
@@philippr6107 A Valediction was a solid album and Christian delivered some awesome solos and songs. I agree dude.
I watched an interview with him about this time he missed a concert because the laptops were stolen. He does a lot of special effects and also different kinds of music that just would not sound right acoustic. His band is very good and I agree he should have did a couple songs at least. I guess he just didn't want to disappoint fans from the way it was supposed to sound. There are a lot of bands that still use a backtrack including rings of Saturn which I love. There will always be someone who doesn't like a band for whatever reason. I love falling in reverse.
I agree backing tracks aren't bad. Especially in a world where perfection is expected. A lot of bands use them and MIDI technology has excited for over 30+ years. It definitely would have been cool to see Falling Reverse play without the tracks which they're capable of doing. Thanks for watching and don't miss the complete podcast tonight at 12 am PST. Cheers
ELEMENTS!!!!!!
That album is crazy. I learned a few songs from it. Not an easy feat!
Mad respect for that comment. Unlike other people’s comments this one is in a polite way challenging them to do something new live and adapt to when stuff goes wrong. Love this!

Awesome interview. Cause of Death was maybe the first death metal album I ever bought. I was more into thrash and the slower chuggy riffs and Tardy's growling while I kinda got into them, never quite fully clicked, but Murphy's menacing, melodic playing always really stood out. I must have read about Disincarnate in some magazine, maybe like Meta Militia, and bought the cassette tape right when it came out. Never saw them, but proudly wore a shirt all the time in high school and listened that album a ton. I didn't know anyone else who listened to them sadly. The riffs, especially Monarch of the Sleeping Marches were amazing. I already really liked Testament and then I found out he'd joined them and Low came out, I was stoked. IMO it was like the only *great* thrash album in that era IMO. It took the best of thrash and some elements of death metal and you could clearly hear Murphy's influence on things. It's so awesome to get all this background of what was going on from Murphy. Thank you for this interview.
Cause of Death is a great album. James has been involved in many classic and genre defining albums. I first heard James on Spiritual Healing and was instantly a fan. Disincarnate was a great tech band and IMO was ahead of its time. Testament sounded great as well and The Gathering is one of their best albums. James elevates every band he works with. Thanks for watching and the comment. Cheers!
