Thank you so much for the information
Hi Carla & Finnegan, thank you for teaching. I have not crocheted anything but an afghan pattern & scarfs. But, my hope is to learn to make ruffled socks for women. So, I am learning from you. I hope. Cynthia
Thank you for sharing this wonderful, holistic video. I love that you incorporate your spirituality. I really like the look of this yarn, but find it really difficult to work with! Can't wait to find out about ethically sourced sustainable choices!
My aunt made stockings like this for all the kids in the family. She passed a long time ago but I have watched your videos to make them for my grandkids and nieces and nephews. Eventually I'll get one for everyone. Thanks for your videos and instructions so I can keep the tradition going!
Yes ~ keep this tradition going!!! It was my hope to inspire, instruct & help others in this tradition. It is truly a life-long gift when given. Many blessings to you and those who receive your precious gift.
Me desilusiona porque no siguió con el paso a paso ☹️☹️☹️ Yo la estaba esperando porque con ella me guió
I am so sorry! I needed to work off camera to finish this stocking for a customer. My next video series will be start to finish, step by step!
Another lovely video! Great work!
Thank you very much!
I'm about to start a lighted stocking. I plan to use a crafter blade (picture frame mat blade) and cutting board to get an easy, precise cut. My question is how to line stocking with battery box/on off switch accessible! Make a felt pocket on back of stocking? Don't want box to cause stocking to hang wrong because of weight. May be best to just leave it out and free, place on mantle? Open to suggestions!! Thank you!! EDIT: I spoke too soon..SMART placement of pocket!! Thank you!!
No worries! Your ideas would also work. I think the kit says to let it live in the toe of the stocking, However I think it is most important to line a stocking with these lights so they don't get disturbed. I think you idea of cutting with a crafter blade is a great and wonderful idea. I will remember that the next time I make one with lights.
Great content
Thank you!
I love watching your videos and I say the longer the better. I don't need the top tips and information now but I find your videos so relaxing. I really like your company whilst I sew. I've watched one of the videos where you start one of the kits many times. You mention getting your scissors sharpened at Joanne's and your big tubs for beads are years old that you can't remember where you got them from. Even though I know you'll say this, I still like to watch whilst I sew. I especially like videos where your cat visits or you talk about your family or your faith.
I'm so grateful for your support. It is really helpful to know what you like. I will try to keep all this in mind when I make videos in the future. I'm so glad that I can sew with you, even if its from afar!
Love your videos. I’d say the longer the better, step by step would be super helpful to many. If I could make a suggestion, please iron your felt before starting. The creases will never come out, and the finished stocking will look so much better without them.
Thanks for the tip! I'm always afraid I will iron off the painted guide lines. But you are so right. I'm very happy to know what you like to watch and I will keep that in mind for future videos.
@@servantcrafts I was afraid of that too. I use a thin tea-towel over the top of the felt and place the ink face down on the ironing board. It comes out great on setting 3 or 4 for me- it does take a few passes. Thanks again for your videos. I love having them on while I work on a project.
I enjoy watching every step. I pick up new little tricks each time. I have several kits, but I haven’t done them yet. I find it very relaxing to watch you stitching and chatting away. But I can understand too if the camera gets in your way if you don’t want to film it all. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you SOOOO much for your support. It really helps to know what you like to see. It's amazing to me how easily I can sit alone with a camera and talk to myself!!
Cotton and acrylic is kinder if you love animals. Premium acrylic is better.
thank you so much for this video <3
Pilling is very common with acrylic yarns, & most of the anti-pillers need to be laid flat & air dried. I'm currently using Lion Brand Basic Stich anti-pilling yarn to crochet a baby blanket, & it can be dryer dried, which is unusual. I hope it lives up to its expectations. Caron Simply Soft is a pretty looking yarn, but it is a hugh piller after washing. I am gravitating towards using only cotton yarn for baby blankets because it is natural. Yarn is a broad topic but just like anything else you get what you pay for. Cotton is a win, espec
I learned so much from this video, thank you very much! I love that you included information about the products for consumer awareness (ingredients used in the process and where they come from), as well as how a finished project will react to the environment and how to properly care for a garment made with each different type of yarn. I highly enjoyed this video 😊
So cute
I am curious if you could pre wash cotton before you use it so I will prevent the bleeding from being washed?
Spent more time on thread than what I needed to know
Just wanted to let you know that I've been watching your vids to teach me how to do my first Bucilla stocking as a gift to my loved one! Thank you for doing this
I’m not a huge fan of acrylic yarn but I do use it sometimes. I love natural fibers more. I especially love merino wool. Cotton would be my preferred choice over acrylic.
Very helpful video. Thank you.
Tanks so much im gonna by my yarn tmr so i can start chroshetting tmr i already got my pens
I also love the sequins and beads. Thank you for this clarifying and refreshing tutorial!
in the beginning of your video I saw something with your threads on it. what was that? It looked helpful to keep my threads organized.
Thanks!
Im going to have to try tge thread conditioner. I feel like im always battling knots. Thanks for the information.
I would add that cotton is best for summer projects, because it doesn’t keep warm. Animal fibres are best for winter clothing, meanwhile plant based fibres - like cotton - are best for summer clothing.
I stitch the pipe cleaner to the fabric with tacking stitches. That holds it while I stitch.
Great idea! That would make it all the easier. Thanks!
I’m brand new to this hobby and this was such a helpful video, thank you!!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching.
Glad it was helpful! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Take a piece of tracing paper and draw the nose and the lines on it. Then do the split stitch. Then, place the tracing paper over the split stitch. Your lines are there. Stitch the lines and remove the tracing paper
This is a GREAT solution! Thank you for recommending it.
Beautiful ornaments
Thank you so much 😊
This is gorgeous!
Thank you so much, you are very kind!
Thank you. It looks so relaxing
It is! But, also addicting!
I really recommend ironing out the creases in the felt prior to adding the beads and sequins. Don't put a hot iron directly on the felt, use a piece of fabric to protect it otherwise it might melt.
Yes, this is helpful and you MUST be very careful not to disturb the paint lines. But, I rarely do this step and by the time you are finished with all the stuffing and layers of stitching, the creases are gone.
Hello ma’am for flower bouquets which yarn is more preferred??
My preference is cotton. It holds its shape better as long as it does not get wet. It also doesn't stretch which allows its shape to hold up better. But, in all truth, I have only made flowers with cotton.
I want to make crochet hand bag as a beginner.which one i choose -cotton or acrylic?
I would chose a mercerized cotton because it will not pill with use. But a 100% cotton yarn can be hard on your hands to work with, especially for a beginner. Mercerized cotton is 100% cotton but treated to be very smooth and is much easier to work with. A cotton & acrylic or other fiber blend may also a nice option. For a first project, make sure that you love the yarn you choose. This will make if more enjoyable to work on and learn. Let me know what you choose.
@@servantcrafts 😊🖤 thanks dear
I love watching your Bucilla videos!
I have a cockatiel named, Presley who likes to grab my needle when I am cross stitching. He loves sparkly things! I always have to give him something else to play with to keep him occupied. Thanks so much for this tutorial. I am working on my first felt ornament. It is a Thanksgiving panda by Merry Stockings. It is just too cute and hope it is just as cute when I am finished.
Oh wow! I will have to look up that kit. Send a picture when you are done. I'm totally sure it will be as cute as the picture on the kit!
your video audio cuts out from 9-12 minutes... not sure if you knew
No, I didn't know. I will have to check into it and see what can be done. Thank you for letting me know.
Okay,, I love when you say "Whatever you do is yours and is perfect"..I need to remember that 😀
Yes, well it is true and I think we all need to hear it occasionally!!!
I love your video! I am desperate to find those little bead containers in your video! Do you know where I can find them or what they are called?
Yes I do! Here is a link to them on Amazon: Sequin & Bead Containers: amzn.to/2XHgOUx To be clear, I do receive a small commission if you purchase through this link. Your price does NOT change.
Sorry to be a bother, but those don't look anything like the containers in your video. :/@@servantcrafts
Maybe these are the ones you are looking for? amzn.to/49dEpfq Again this is an Amazon link and I do receive a small commission on purchase of them. If you are wanting the larger clear containers that I have white sequins and clear beads in, I got those over 10 years ago at Michaels. I haven't been able to find them since so that is why I recommend others. I do hope this helps.
I made these up right away, they are so cute! Regular embroidery scissors kill my fingers for anything besides snipping threads so I use the spring loaded Fiskars.
Oh, I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who LOVES these! I use the spring loaded Fiskars to snip threads and the large handled embroidery scissors by Gingher for cutting felt. We each are so wonderfully unique!
Thanks for the great teaching
You are very welcome!
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
A somewhat helpful video but you missed out on a lot of important points and you spent too much time on showing us cutting and sewing front to back which. You left out the most important part of sewing the lining. And not many have a serger. I have 4+ sewing machines not one is a serger. Did I miss the part of inserting the lining and tab? Also it would of been helpful to talk about fabric design. Some fabric have an up and down. I once sewed a lining upside down. Also a shorter video is helpful. If videos are too long I will skip them. PS The cat is a distraction.
Thank you for your good critique. This is a rather old video & I hope the current ones are done better. Have a wonderful day.
I will have to check it out.
It IS beautiful
Thank you SO much!
Thanks so much for the great tutorial I’ve learned so much from you!,
You are so welcome!
Can I knit with moya cotton yarn for baby?
After some research, I hadn't heard of it before, it looks like it is 100% cotton. Cotton is great for baby things because it is hypoallergenic and easily washed. It is warm, but never too warm because it breathes. It looks like the color choices in this yarn are exceptional. I will have to get some and try it out. Thanks for your great question and allowing me to find out something new.
I am very familiar with all 3 design kits that was in this video. As I have been making kits since the 1990 (more than 250 kits). I have several problems with your video. 1st of all Merry Stocking sells Bucilla kits and now they also make their kits. 2nd when you were Design Felt kit your voice matched the kit. But when you were reviewing Merry Stocking Kit and Bucilla kit the video kept bouncing back from one kit to the other. It was very confusing. 3rd The materials in a Merry Stocking kits are of excellent quality. As well as Bucilla. 4th As for ease or difficulty it depends on the kit itself, not the Brand.
Certainly, everyone is entitled to their opinion. This video is just my opinion and I thought that it may be helpful to others. I too, have made kits since 1983 and they count in the hundreds at this time, also. I encourage you to make a video that shares your opinion on kits so that your voice can be shared with others.
@@servantcrafts My real problem with your video perhaps is the filming. Your comments on the kit you were rating wasn't on the correct kit. Which to me lowers the value of video. The camera kept jumping between kits. I noticed because I am very familiar with the kits. And FYI I have made a Merry Stocking kit that came with Poly Fill. Also of note to new crafter Merry Stocking sells Bucilla Kits as well as their own kits. They also offer a reward points systems to earn money off future kits or products.
Thank you so much, Carla. After watching several videos, you’re the first one that I could actually understand with.
Glad it was helpful! I really appreciate knowing that these videos help others to learn!
