We came. We hiked. We ate. And we love sharing our vacation travel adventures and tips with others. We specialize in budget travel, cheap airfare, and unique destinations.
Country Count as of March 2024:
Jessica: 39
Nathan: 28
We live in Ohio in the United States. This channel began when created video updates to send to our friends and family when we lived in Guatemala in 2014. Beginning with our 10th Anniversary trip to Spain, France, and Morocco in 2018, Nathan got the bug to start making travel videos. Jessica has yet to get the bug, but she has a love of travel and is very patient with Nathan. :) We've been getting better little by little, and we hope to continue doing so. Thank you for stopping by our channel!

Five Countries in One Day (Czech Republic, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway)
This video is part 10 of our 10 Countries in 10 Days series. We arrived in Prague in the evening and spent about 3 hours there. It was the only city we visited at night on this whole trip. The next day would see us in FIVE COUNTRIES!!! The last stop was in Oslo, which included a warm sauna, and a dip into the frigid waters.

Shaws in Guatemala - Episode 3: Volcán Pacaya
Loved the video, now i have to visit this place :D
That’ll be a hard no for me!!!
This has "fuck that" written all over it
Thanks for fliming it so I dont have to do it .
People have been doing this without a harness? Hikers at any levels of expertise, even novices??? Wtf. How? I'm surprised we don't hear tragic falls all the time!
Interested in the rest of this amazing trip? Watch the recap here: ruclips.net/video/Mz4ENLvV1HE/видео.html
Going up is doable but it's the going down that would petrify me...
Dumb shit just would ya just Look at it or something..💯😒👍🏻
I wouldn't do that who's there to catch you if you slip?...😮
Terrifying. I want to try this at some point in my life.
That's the spirit! :) It is an amazing experience. Thanks for watching!
First and foremost; you have a right to kill yourself in a Wilderness/ outdoor activity doing risky activities; just don't kill other innocent people or damage the environment; every activity doesn't have to be as safe as it possibly could be.
And what happens if you slip and fall? You die. Cool. No thanks!
Dumb
No safety harness. 🤦🏼♂️
But, Why do this??
Really don't understand why people don't wear a simple harness for this
Every person should be locked on. It should be required to wear a guardian fall, or something like it. JMO
Looks totally idiotic to not be strapped on, surprised no one seems to use a harness here, what if you get tired.
I don't get why people like this
What if the top person slips?
I don’t believe you, the fastest runner or the quickest climber could not do that in 60 seconds
looks safe........NOT
People do this on a keto diet and fall off.
People do this on a fruit diet and fall off.
Me and two friends went up in 1978. It was like climbing up a basketball because you could only see so far ahead due to the curvature. Going down was worse but as long as you kept a good grip on the cables you were ok.
This really helps me visualize what the 'hike' really is.
They could totally make this climb safer. Add more steps at least. Require people bring an attachment to the cable as they climb. Something!
Dude! You walking on the edge scared me 😮.
We need that descent in 60 secs
Thanks for showing how it's done! If you don't have gear don't ascend the cables, period!
Definitely wouldn’t want to be up there when an earthquake hits!
It looks like a place where people aren't supposed to be.
Does anyone know how deep those poles are rooted into the rock? I’ve tried to find the answer but have come up short. I am very curious 🤔
Inquiring minds want to know.
HOW DO YOU GET DOWN?
the same way you go up.
Carefully.
Yeah, the same way you go up, you come down. I found coming down much easier, but you defintely want to be careful.
i came here cuss thE daughter fell and died. RIP.
I don't know why but just watching this gives me anxiety. Like genuine fear for all of you up there.
It shows you’ve got some common sense
Do any people tie off? Or does literally every free climb it?
The day I was there I think I saw 1 or 2 people who tied off. The majority didn't. I brought stuff to do so, but decided not to.
@@ShawAdventuresRUclips Thanks!
Ok. Some chick died. Father is mourning loss. Never heard of this. Now it's popular? Wtf?
It seems like that tragedy has made Half Dome a popular search on RUclips, which is probably making these videos pop up more, but this has been popular for many many years. This video was recorded in late September 2023.
What do you mean? It’s always been a destination spot for climbers etc. The first man to climb it was in like the 1800s. This video was posted almost a year ago. More people are searching it, and so it’s in the algorithm and will show up.
Did you see a marmot up there? I did the climb a few years ago and was surprised to see one. I also remember how easily those poles can come off.
I did not see a marmot. That would have been cool. Thanks for watching!
That’s so strange lol. Wonder what his journey was like.
And the price for do8ng this is
I think $10 for the permit and then also the park entry fee.
Why
I don’t understand why anyone would want to do this without a harness
How to say trust fund baby without saying trust fund baby….these are the people saying just get a loan from papa. As if everyone’s parents had a real good marriage.
Loser music makes it unwatchable Learn to just be quiet and not so obnoxious
What if you have to go to the bathroom? 😯
I wouldn't want to be below!
Cheaty title. What is actually shown is Half Dome cables shown in 60 sec.
Incredibly beautiful
Yes it is! A really unique place. Thanks for watching!
But how did Grace fell down there are cables here to support . Did not understand
She was not wearing a safety harness clipped onto the cables. Otherwise she would have only slipped maybe 10 feet and had a bad scrape.
@@LizaSachdev The rocks are slippery when dry and like ice when wet. The cables also get slippery. Look how steep this is. You can't get a good grip with your hands or feet. She wasn't the first to slip and she won't be the last. Idk why the park doesn't require people wear harnesses.
@@neenee_marie77most of it is not that steep; or difficult; that can make hikers underestimate the need for extra care if caught in a storm.
@craigbritton1089 Ah. So not steep, just slippery?
@MOAB-UT Please read both of my comments in this thread and the one above my last comment and see the conversation. Also please note the question mark which means I was asking the person above me if it's steep. Question marks usually mean a person is not stating a fact, but are instead asking a question.
Why don't ppl rappel down on the outside of the cables?
There are spikes in the ground that you have to unclip for about every 20 feet. Everyone is inside the cables. There is a wood shelf you can rest on inside the cables. Traffic jam too. I used a harness and was fine.
If people rappelled it would be a horrible traffic jam; and probably more accidents as rappelling accidents are a major part of climbing deaths.
@@craigbritton1089 I had a harness when I did half dome. I did not repel. You calmly and safely clip and unclip one of your two tethers. One tether end from your Y cable stays on a cable at all times. When climbing up, about every 15 feet you have to clip one end of your Y to the upper section. The lower tail remains on the lower wire section until the upper one is secure. Same simple procedure going down only in reverse. I was far more confident so I moved literally about 2x's as fast as everyone else who was clinging to that cable for survival- same going up. I flew going up. Remember, someone above you could fall and take you off the hill.
@@MOAB-UT I was pointing that out to the person who said you should rappel outside the cables.
So what happens when a fast moving storm set in??🤔
who cares
The granite gets very slippery.
You turn around and go home. I would only attempt this on a sunny, dry day and use a harness...like I did. You cannot however clip on anywhere on sub dome which you have to navigate first. It was very tricky and I was not comfortable on it. I found Half Dome easy. I was fully clipped it- two clips so one stays on at all times when you click over to the new section after the poles every 20 feet.
Said the girl that fell off it
