1970s current affairs programme clip (very poor quality)

From an ebay tape. This may be "Midweek", or less likely, "Tonight". It also seems unlikely to be Newsnight, which didn't start until 1980. Seems like it could be 1977 or 1978.
Bits of "Evans On Newspapers" (very poor quality)

Working on Your Own originally shown first 18.02.1975!
A lovely upload, thanks for sharing. In 2025, Brian Pyke would be 67 - hope he’s well! 🙂
Actually, he would be around 69-70 now and retired, as it was first shown early in 1975!
Steradent song brings back memories from 1977 to the 1981 version
Your announcer is Malcolm Eynon
Thursday 26th November 1992 and it must be from the end on the news 📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺
1970s current affairs programme clip (very poor quality) 1900pm 25.1.25 The Sunday Debate - 1975? Panorama?
Have you got an episode of through the keyhole with Sir David Frost and Lloyd Grossman from 1998?
No
End of an episode of Connections, ITV, date unknown 25.1.25 1840pm sue robbie? wow. takes me back a bit.. the thinking man's amanda holden. i think i miss regional tv, y'know...
mid 80s?
Well, yes, but that's not surprising. In fact this could be from the first series in 1985 or not long thereafter.
😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
A splendid cricket at Chesterfield. From 1981 the year Derbyshire won the Nat West a week or 2 after this match
Great programme. Thx for sharing
A week after birth of Channel 4.
From Election 1987 to adverts.
Upload more RTE Ireland between now & Easter.
If it's the Autumn repeat then this is from Monday 18th October 1982, else if it's the original broadcast, Monday 26th January 1981.
Presuming it's all from the same episode. It may well be but I can't be sure, as this is just a sample of the tape. Given the quality I probably won't have the whole tape done.
Jeez i didn't think Man alive was still going by the 80's
Clip starts with end of 'Matlock'. The clip might be early hours of Monday 12th or 19th September '88 depending how you interpret "next Tuesday" - Richard Burton profile and film shown on Anglia Tuesday 20th September. If you have the full unedited copy of the news bulletin it might help date the clip. The entire run of Anglia autumn '60 Minutes' broadcasts always ended at 4:30am, and never started at 4:30 as the presenter stated.
03:26 What did he see, to top left of frame?
Could be anything. He's not a professional TV presenter so is more likely to be distracted.

Granada TV continuity and adverts 1st May 1985 2002pm 22.1.25 i used to enjoy survival and easter island. didnt do me any good, though...
When I end my dry January next week, I am giving this a rewatch 😂
Child: Mummy , what were the 80s like? Mummy:watch this.
The ITV LWT continuity announcer was Peter Lewis.
If you had a TV shop and you wanted to display the quality of the picture to customers then you might put on something like this as it shows a variety of shows. Question is, did they have a VCR that would auto-rewind every two and a half minutes? I suppose that if it was an hour long, the rewinding period would be too long, and the tape would take longer to make.
"Comedy" and "Little and Large" should never appear in the same sentence.
Wow, thats who Alan Partridge must be based on.
How did someone do this and what was the point of it?
Doing it is easy enough, just tape short bit of something then tape another short bit of something straight after. As to why, it's most likely been done for fun.
Great footage almost 40 years later.
Good Friday music theme tune is still the same.
its like watching the intro to Command and Conquer!
Channel 4 News summary and continuity, 17th April 1987 1839pm 21.1.25 i have often wondered if the daily star ever had a serious journalistic phase... as watching ch4 dip into cruddy nonsense, when once it was thinking serious thoughts, only makes me wonder......... i am likening ch4 with the daily star nowadays with ch5 masking as a supplementary special offer pamphlet.
I dont believe this, im sorry. Videos tended to fuzz a little bit betwen takes, too many straight cuts here for my liking. and if you'd recorded on a tape this much it would be fuzzy as anything by now!
This is what I found on a tape. It's fuzzy as anything at the start, and the OSDs from the digitiser device are also significant.
This is like a light entertainment LSD trip ❤
Obviously this was the handy Dump a Tape in the VCR & Record the thing while I watch something Else Tape.
Recognised Jack Weston (from Short Circuit 2 and Dirty Dancing) in one of the adverts. And who the f**k ever recorded Songs of Praise? Really? Songs of Praise? Has to be the most boring piece of television ever created.
The more clips there are, the more I realise this person hasn't used every second of his tape.
Stamps & Daily Star newspaper were among the adverts.
2 Weather Clips and a few programme previews and adverts too.
Thames TV continuity and ITN Gulf War news, 20th February 1991 whatever you do, if there's a war, don't say the government's doin' a terrible job if it's maiming and killing the alleged foe. hmmm.... i think that's where you could have gone wrong... Oklahoma's on a tad too long, wouldn't you say? i think i already stated i dont like musicals...
All this is good to see. The Magpie clips were especially fascinating with the show one many of us remember from childhood. The focus on videotapes and recording of programmes was a great insight into how many of these programmes were made but almost all those tapes were later wiped and recorded over; that may also have happened to the ones seen here which is why these off-air recordings are so important, often the only fragments of what was broadcast.
The end of the Z Cars episode is from "Two for the Record" (Part 1) broadcast on Monday 17th November 1969.
Yes, by coincidence I saw yesterday that someone else had found and posted this a few years ago, so this material has been through several hands.
@@80sandretrogubbins25 The football results at 13:01 are from the same night, the Barrow-Alfreton game went to a third replay before Barrow won through.
This is brilliant
BBC1 Daytime Live + News, 30th October 1990 one of the most amazingly painful experiences of one's life- slipping a disc. nothing can compare to that sensation as the gel between the spinal column slips out........... enuff!!!! absolute murder. on a more festive note - i don't even think mother has made that many - xmas cakes.
BBC1 Daytime Live + News, 30th October 1990 1040am 19.1.25 no idea what seb coe's waffling on about, do you? you think he'd have been a lot quicker explaining what it is he's waffling on about... if i click on the links in the info page below the presentation title...i will find an image of bill wyman looking out at me. that's what i'm talking about....................................................................................................................................................wtf!!?
“Human Beings are not intelligent enough to look after the planet” ( at 21 mins. or thereabouts) And this was said 30 years ago! No change there then…
This might be from the early hours of Monday 12th September.
The Blankety Blank episode is Friday 13 Dec 85
good find .
World Gymnastics Champs at Montreal were held from 3rd to 10th November 85, tying in with the Songs of Praise TX
