My Garden (2017-2023)
The garden has peaked. There should be a special word that combines the feeling of both of complete ephoroa and melancholy, knowing it is all downhill from here. This is our .6 acre yard in Gig Harbor Wa (zone 8b). I went extra crazy this year because it was on our local garden tour (over 1,000 people came through in June!) I made a video tour that shows what each area looked like before I got my hands on it. 5 years of sweaty work!
I get a lot of questions about how I did it. There was no plan. I just ripped out what I didn’t like and crammed in plants I thought were pretty. And then water like mad. I don’t want to see any soil! There are 10 sprinkler zones. Every spring I mulch with 4 i...

Peaking Garden 2022

Here it is at its peak this year! I hate/love when it's at it's prime. This is the finale week I dream of every March, but from now on, it will look worse every week. It kills me a little very year. This is my 4th summer in this .6 acre yard. It used to be all shrubs. I needed color, so I yanked most of them, and I got it! It will be on the Gig Harbor Garden Tour next June!
The Garden July 6, 2021

When I was in middle school, I had a really tough time. The highlight of my day was the bus ride home, passing a house absolutely dripping with flowers. It made me so happy and made my tough days a little brighter. “Someday,” I thought, “I will have a garden that makes people happy when they drive by.” It has been my goal the last 15 years to be on a garden tour. In a little over 24 hours, the ...

COVID19 journal entry for the day: I came up from teaching a gaggle of Skype lessons to see M and the huz frantically trying to extract a googly eye from the toaster. I didn’t ask any questions. But I just found out why (in my opinion her best video yet! volume up!):

One of my very fav things to watch in the whole wide world has always been pregnancy reveal videos. Telling people is literally the best part being pregnant (if not the ONLY good part, lol). And boy did we shock our loved ones this time! Taken March 4-6, here’s us telling Mera (shellshocked much?), Justin’s mom (deets below), and my parents/sister (my dad’s hard-of-hearingness is comedy GOLD). ...

I love this video and have watched it over 20+ times. It’s great to watch when you feel you need a vacation or having a bad day. A big thank you to the Reuter family for taking the time to make this video and share it so we can share their adventure.
You move the camera way to fast, making it hard on the eyes and blurry in parts of the video.
Im assuming your moving around because of work. Washington state is an awesome place for sure .... but it doesnt hold a candle to St. John in my opinion. Curious though. Ive been told the virgin islands have almost a 100 small islands surrounding it. Wondering the furthest you went to get to these places
Stunning!
Wow! Your garden is of dreams! And the view makes it even more incredible!
21:00 You can take see the father-daughter connection there. They look so much alike! Live this video. Prob watch more than I should (should focus on making enough $ so I can move there!). Hope the family is doing well in WA!
There’s a lot to appreciate about this place , but it’s a vacation spot not a forever home .
May we have a update? How’s everyone doing? Do you prefer USVI orWashington?
We moved back to Gig Harbor Wa and we love it but half my heart is still on STJ. We went back to STJ for a visit in 2019 and came home with a surprise passenger: baby Linden who is now 2.5! Mera is now 15 and an amazing artist! You can see updates and follow me on Instagram at me_in_the_now. Spoiler alert: we are currently spending spring break in Venice ❤️
cora's videos never get old. Love them. watch them over and over . they make me happy!
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
That Tire Kingdom theme is lit
Nice I love STJ
You guys did all that works yourselves? Wowza! Crazy beautiful ❤
We did (except we have lawn guys now and edge it weekly)! The last year with a toddler in tow!
Nice vacation 👌 😎
Nice Island 🏝 👌 your all blessed
Stunning!
What was name of house villa you rented ??
Soul Island. I think it’s currently for sale?
Wow!! You captured the island so beautifully 💗 I have been going there nearly every year since I was a baby (grandparents built a house there on the East End right above Salt Pond), and am just getting to go back next month for the first time since Irma!! So excited💗 Thanks for this wonderful video! xx
Excellent video. We’re going for our 20th anniversary. Thanks so much!
What a fantastic video! Thank you!
What a great video of family enjoying life
Love this video! Can't wait for our vacation! St. Thomas! Thx for sharing:) beautiful family:)
My husband has the opportunity to work in the USVI. This convinced me we should go!
Thank you. 😍
Very nice video. May I ask how much was the rental for the year?
$60k for the year
@@justinfoster1638 60k , I'm sure it was well worth it. Time with the family like that is priceless.
Very inspirational video. I wonder if you guys considered staying there?
That is what I dream of! What a beautiful island!!
This is a video I can watch over and over again. My family and I were trying to decide where to vacation this year and I came across this video. So glad I did! Did you have to take the ferry back to Saint Thomas every time you went grocery shopping or are there grocery stores on Saint John too? How long is the ferry ride?
Go! St. John is the best kept secret in the Caribbean. It’s a quick and easy 15 min ferry ride! There is a ferry near the airport and it’s a 40 min ride. There are grocery stores on St John! We just went to STT every couple months for bulk buying at Cost U less since it’s cheaper.
Oh, great! Thanks so much for the response!
Awesome Video. We are from Oregon and hoping to spend a few months a year there. Looks like a blast. I love all the animals everywhere. FYI, touching green turtles deposits oil from our hands to the shell of the turtle. It causes fungus and other diseases which eventually kills them. They are protected. I know it's a $20,000 fine if caught in Hawaii. I know it's illegal to touch them in the VI's too but I don't know what the fine is. Just FYI for the future. Thanks. You look like an awesome family!
Oh trust me, seeing the turtle touching now makes me CRIIIIINGE. We didn’t know about it for the first several months we were there. There were zero signs at the time. I made this video for a “yearbook” for my family and the file was too big to keep anywhere but RUclips. Had I known this little video would be watched by so many people I would have edited the turtle touching out! Sadly my original video footage and edits live on a lost hard drive. So I put a turtle disclaimer in the main video caption.
hello, great video, do you guys still live there or recommend living there? what did you learn from the experience? good and bad. Thanks!
We left after a year since we missed family, the seasons, and my violin career. I wrote a blog post (that website is no longer active) about what it is really like living there and can send it to you if I have your email address 😊
I would like to camp at Pebble Beach St John. By far the best ocean sounds I ever heard.the roosters are incredibly colorful and the donkey's are friendly and Don't forget your Colombo's smoothie with rum at the top of the island
I love this video. I miss St John! Be there soon...
I was here just a week ago for 10 days and it was breathtaking definitely recommend going!
Love your video. Moving to Saint Thomas in March. Any advice or tips?!
st thomas is a lot more “big city” ish so it will be easier! I wrote a blog post about living on St. John if you’re interested. my STJ website is no more (where it used to live) but I can email you the word document if you’d like.
Hello! I love this video! I know this was 2 years ago but how did you guys make this work financially and the overall process of moving down! What a dream!
my husband is n software and can work from anywhere with an internet connection (though he had to travel off island quite a bit) and I am a violinist. I played in weddings and taught lessons there, both virtually and in person
Hi Cora, where did you find this rental property with the private pool and the views? Do you mind sharing how much it was for monthly rent? Great video!
we got extremely lucky and found it as a listing on craigslist. it was a vacay rental that wasn’t renting well (far-ish from town). it was SUPER pricey at 4500 a month, (we would have been happy in an apartment) but our house at home had already sold and we literally couldn’t find anywhere else!
It's my goal to snowbird in the USVI when I retire
Amazing memories for your family! Love st John's and the Redbook ferry and trunk bay! Honey moon bay !
I loved the tire kingdom song
Just curious about how daily life was for you? Could you see yourself living there forever?
I can send you an old blog post I wrote about daily life if you’re interested. just leave your email address below and I’ll send it as a Word doc : )
Everywhere I went sounded like something yummy to eat...remember cinnamon bay and chocolate hole and the first road going uphill is Jacob's ladder....lol
Absolutely precious, and yes I did watch the whole thing!!! Happy Birthday and happy first year Linden!! 🥰😍

Loved this video. Can you share what rental company you worked with? Was it tough to get your kids registered for school? Can you share which school they went to? Did you always have to travel to St Thomas for groceries?
We found this house on craigslist for rent. But it was super hard to find and we just ended up getting lucky. Our daughter went to Gifft hill school and we loved it!
glad you enjoyed your time in our Islands....glad you used some local music too......COME TO TIRE KINGDOM ...lol
Oh you're rich rich The video was great, felt like I was there with you
not rich trust me, lol. we are just a middle class family can work from anywhere with the internet and chose to be “crazy” for a year.
Touching turtles is illegal
What a wonderful adventure for your little family. St. Johns is such a beautiful island. I have been there many times but only for a day at a time...as I work/worked onboard a cruise ship. Love snorkeling in Trunk's Bay. Very nice. Are you still doing a youtube channel? I have subscribed and will wait and see. I have a new travel channel and am having so much fun posting videos and meeting new people.
Adventures with Cheryl thanks I’ll check yours out! I do have a channel, although it doesn’t have much. Just click on my profile pic I think. About a year ago I posted my favorite video yet… a compilation of us telling loved ones that I was PREGNANT! It was a total shock. we actually traveled back to STJ last Jan and thats where the baby was conceived. We can’t get that island out of our blood! Anyway, it’s a fun video, as is the gender reveal. I’m busy now making a video of the baby’s first year : ) We plan on living abroad again when the baby is old enough ❤️
@@corareuter7347 WOW Congratulations. It's very difficult trying to live/work and be diligent with youtube videos. Not easy to do. Yes, please check me out when you have some TIME! hahaha you sound very busy. What are some of your options for the future move? No worries about answering my questions as i know you must be really busy. All the best to you & your little family.
Wonderful video! Thanks!
