The white Bishop is buried and is useless . The black Knight has a few outposts. I'd say black is better
Absolutely!
I'm happy I did see this dangerous threat 😀 Great example!
Nice to hear that! ☺️
What book is that?
Thought and Choice in Chess.
I'm just remembering how much I enjoy playing chess.
me too!
I am happy to have helped reignite the passion ☺️
At 23:22 I would have simply moved my rook back to a2, since the pawn is now forfeit if I do. Rd4 looked nice, but Ra3 resolves both threats that I create.
That is correct!
It's such a bad rook, that if RH3 was still blocked, I'd probably move it to h1 to force the bishop to trade off for it.
Even that!
H2
Do you mean Kh7?
Nice
Thanks 🙏

Hi coach I have the database which consists of 4.3 million games of gm. I want to learn some instructive ideas or patterns which arise in gm games and apply to my own games. What do you suggest me to do because it is obvious that i cannot go through all 4.3 million games. And how to identify the moment that idea come into play. please help!
That is why you need good books/courses that already distilled key ideas for you. Please check my courses the Art of Exchanging Pieces and the Art of Awakening Pieces for those recurrent and important patterns, many taken from GM games.
@@Dr.CansClinic yes but I can't afford and can't allocate money for chess separately because of my financial issues i am not financially independent
@@raajeshchess Then you look at games from your own openings. You can try to guess the moves of the GMs while looking. Or you can look at a bunch of games with rapid speed (2-3 second/move) to have a feeling of broad patterns and which piece is going where in that very opening.
@@Dr.CansClinic Thank you

what a fantastic video ! Super helpful !
Thank you so much for your kind feedback! 🙏
I play bad chess started at 400elo and have been in 950 - 1050 for 6 months . I am 52, played for 1 year about 1-2 hours a week. No study, no puzzles. It's all on me!!! So yes getting serious is the way to go... but I love the game.
Thanks for mentioning your progress! It is not a bad development within 1 year, without studying any books or courses!
I just released a course called The Chess Elevator, which is perfectly suited to your level!
I found the position with the domination of the rook on h2 instructive - in that position, I'd take care of my backrank first with some luft but then several plans come to mind - such as advance my h pawn with the goal of restricting his h pawn to keep that rook buried, centralize my king (as endgame kings should be), and realize that his rooks are essentially dead because he cannot move his other rook due to a back rank issue, in terms of piece activity your bishop and knight are far better than his rook, and your other rook is much better than his which is stuck guarding the back rank, therefore a rook to the 7th rank or g- file with may also be a good plan along with advancing your pawn majority. On the g-file he meets Rg5+ with Kf1 which you can meet with Be2+ which he responds with Ke1 which allows your rook to invade on the 1st rank with a skewer to his other rook winning it and the game
I love what I just read. Thank you so much for your observations and strong plans!
Improvement suggestion: make evaluation bar visible during analysis e.g. in this case to show Martin when he thinks he is only up a pawn that maybe he actually has much bigger advantage/disadvatange due active/burried pieces!
Thank you Darko. I thought about it, but probably it is best to keep it away as I don't want to be affected by the bar while giving my live reactions. Perhaps I will also make some evaluation mistakes ☺️
I watched this video in one "breath". I want to say it is not too long for me. Maybe the reason is that I am at the level near to Martin's. I am making similar mistakes, not seeing deeper etc. But that's why we are in the Dr. Can's clinic. To be healed! 😉
Super happy to hear that, Darko! The healing process has begun. I have very smart and rule-obeying patients 😅
Great video - not too long because your analysis is both educational and entertaining. Your love of the game and genuine desire to help others improve their game is obvious. Kudos to Martin for sharing his game.
❤️ So motivating to read this lovely comment, thanks!
In my opinion, that rook can't be worth very much, maybe value of one pawn at best, as it literally stuck buried in that corner. So sad. Poor rook is crying 😢
Absolutely. It is crying...
One thing i never saw in this video til now is when he opens up with exchanges he gets the opponent creating pawn wall so nothing can get in to defend or escape. Tnis channel is gold
The padlock pawn formation ❤️🙏
Fantastic video 🎉 really enjoyed 👏👏💯 so many times our blunders come from an emotive state, where we feel that everything is under control and we are holding a won position 🤔 then haste takes over and then boom we blunder😔i think however a process of retraining, ourselves from a different approach an perspective, to embrace the scientific approach,as the only way🤔
Super happy to read your wise comment. You are very right about that emotional state. Not only when you feel you are in charged, but also when fear/stress/time trouble kicks in, we tend to revert back to intuition and automatic processes - leading to blunders.
Hi
Hi!
Thank you, all your video's are great !!
Super happy to hear that, thank you! 🙏
nice analysis. was this a blitz game? for me it is a bit sad that black didn't appreciate his knight pair. they were crazy dominating and worth a rook each. people should forget that simple economical thinking like: knight = 2,75 or 3 points. rook = 3. it takes away attention and makes you miss chances.
It was a daily game. Thanks for your good insights on that knight pair!
Thank you Martin. Thank you Dr. Can. So instructive! Appreciate it!
Thank you for your motivational feedback 🙏
Congrats to Martin. Imho he is not considering alternative moves for each move, which isn't important by itself, but builds the habit of calculating the right line.
Thanks for the great feedback, I think you are right. He will study Fundamental Chess Calculation Skills now, and I hope he will start generating more candidate moves :)
I just saw this series for the first time. I find it very educational and entertaining. I think it would be even better if you switched directly to the analysis board that you show in the last 10 minutes when the need for an explanation arises, even if that would certainly be a bit more complicated. Otherwise, thank you for this content. It was really fun to watch.
Thank you so much for your kind feedback! I thought about your proposal, but I think it will cause friction and make the video longer. But I will think more about it :)
Personally, I don't mind the length of the video. Perhaps you can compensate by skipping unimportant parts of the original video. Either way, I still found the video very helpful. Is there a playlist with these videos? Or are there only two of these videos?@@Dr.CansClinic
@@lindell7318 Thank you for your feedback! I will soon create a playlist as this was the second episode :)

@@Dr.CansClinic I meant to give you some feedback on the length of the video. I initially thought, '40 minutes, that's a bit long!' but it flew by and didn't seem long once you started watching it. I have started your Chess Crime and punishment course now and it is first class in explaining important concepts. Your chess teaching is absolutely brilliant.
@@briandwi2504 So motivational! Thank you so much for your feedback ❤ Please ask me anything while studying the crime course :)
Very nice 🎉
Great to hear these words from you, ChessViking! :)
I like this format, because it shows some typical mistakes that amateur players make. You cannot get these kinds of lessons from GM games, because they don't do these mistakes.
Thank you for your kind feedback 🙏 And thanks for sending me your game!
I really like the length of the video, in longer Videos i am able to delve deeper into the position. 👍 i am learning a lot here
Super nice to hear your feedback, thanks!
Oh this kind of analysis is really good and help my thinking process
Thank you! Really motivating!
Credit to Martin for sharing his game, I really like the fact he was willing to choose a game that not only showed his strength but also his weakness. Very interesting to watch and hear his thoughts especially for me as I'm now starting to face gambit style players. Enjoyed the anylasis and all the pointers along the way, great format which I personally find refreshing to see as its just a bit different but still has that instructional value
So nice to hear your kind feedback, glad that you found it useful!
Great insight thank you. If you could please make a series from the learners perspective would be wonderful
Thank you! What exactly do you mean by the learners perspective?

1:59 instead of Qg6+ Bh3+ seems nice but doesnt work due to Bh3+ Kxh3 Qf3+ Kh4 Bf6+ Bg5 Qf4+ and theres no mate after Kh3 while Qxa8+ and Re1+ are looming.
Thanks for mentioning that line!
Hey Dr Can! I'm a big fan of your coaching! Loving all the insightful videos and frequent uploads! My best wishes! ❤
Ah, so motivating, thanks! ❤️
This is great stuff. I'm sure that a lot of improvement happens through gaining experience and through gaining knowledge. But I also believe that subtle mindset shifts with large effects are possible through videos or courses such as yours. By the way, in English "seek" is a transitive verb, meaning pretty much the same as "look for" but no needing a "for" itself.
Thank you so much for your kind words 🙏 And thank you for explaining the transitive nature of the verb "seek"! It is always good to seek advice from native speakers!
Ne7 looks appalling since i dont like the structure after Bxf6. However, g5 looks ever worse - in this example the sac seems to be working, since we got no bishop stopping f4. Both rooks and the queen can find avenues to our king, while our pieces are a bit awkward and i think we might suffer a lot on the dark squares. So Ne7 might be the necessary measure in a worse position. I dont see how our pressure on c3 is significant in any way yet, since it is a dynamic position the static weakness doesnt matter much at the moment.
I love your answer and approach to the position, thanks!
12:18 the a-file started crying in despair 😢
Haha I realized it the moment I finished editing as well :)
I hope you make a course for 3200 to 3500.
Sure Stockfish, I will not forget about you. But first I need to deal with human problems.
I would love a longer video on Zugzwang breaking it down for us lower Elo players!
I will write it down to my video idea list :)
I’m waiting for my time machine. Then I can go back and learn these things at age 5, instead of age 55.
What a great idea! Can you please take me with you?
Oh what an on point and humorous comment haha! It would be great if I would have had these lessons by Dr. Can in my childhood!
This is excellent advice. Simple to understand, but it takes practice to change one's previous bad habits! Homework. 1. Rxb2+ Kxb2 and black just loses the rook. 1. Qb6+ Rb5 and black Queen must move. 1. R e5 pins the rook in an absolute pin. if c4 then 2. R e3 will take white Queen. So this line is good. This seems the best. Yo could capture g2 with the rook but the rook pin looks the best.
Excellent answer! ...Re5 c4 ...Re3! wins.
Nice nice! I've still a hard time with the Zugzwang. But with these short examples I will get more wise :-D Thank you!
Great to hear! I may make a longer video about Zugzwang at some point.
What Super GMs can see in 5 seconds, CMs can see in 15 minutes. That is mind boggling. What CMs can see in 15 minutes, I may be able to see in 15 years!
Haha, don't be too harsh on yourself 😅
Um the king moved in to check black
At which moment?
Sir, facing difficulties in remembering chess opening and opening analysis
Have you tried Chessable?
Hey! I just saw your video on how to sense the critical moment and what I understand is that imbalances of the position will guide me through the critical moment and also show me plan of action is that right. Pls tell whether I get it correctly. Also the imbalances from the opening dictates the middle game plans.
Absolutely. You got it right!
@@Dr.CansClinic When you mentioned salov you meant valery salov the russia GM. I looked in the Fundamental chess opening(FCO) about Sveshnikov it says it's more dynamic rather than positional can I play it positional with some tactics involved ofcourse.
@@raajeshchessblack accepts long term structural weakness (d5 square) but has dynamic compensation with the bishop pair and f5 break ideas. Valéry Salov is correct. You can also study Sveshnikov himself.
@@Dr.CansClinic That means Sveshnikov is more of an imbalances based opening than positional for black and those who knows how to exploit the imbalances well will enjoy it right.
