At what level do you spec to fury? I always thought arms was better for quests or farming

HC isnt about raiding, so basing the population off of it is just unfair

I don't feel like playing Vanilla over again but I am very excited for TBC, I'll be making my come back next year.

I think there’s two reasons on anniversary numbers. One people jumped in because of the hype and so spoiled everyone and they got bored with the class designs. Two people are going at a different approach and enjoying the leveling process more and not really caring about rating molten core for the hundredth time. I really think of people gave sod another shot. They would realize how good of a game it is phase 3 really ruined that version but in my opinion, it’s my favorite.

i resubbed to check out the hc server but I quickly cancelled and moved over to a private server. felt gross giving blizz more money especially with their gross booster packs. no thanks

I have logged 6 to 12 hours a day since P1 Day 1. I'm all in on the SoDcore and don't plan hopping off til ride's come to a complete stop. I log in with a plan of what to do. And there's still not enough hours in a day to feel satisfied with what I've accomplished that day.

First of all, I want to say thanks for the content. With that out of the way, I think you need need to realize that 200k people playing a 20 year old game is a huge win. To put it in perspective when Throne and liberty launched at its peak they had like 350k. If you look at steam charts there are very few games over 200k players. I also don’t think blizzard expected the same numbers as 2019 because I definitely didn’t.

We know new content in Phases 7 and 8 are going to drive up numbers for SoD and erode classic numbers. And that makes sense because most of classic is rollback/copy/paste and SoD is still under new/tweaked/recycled/reworked content. SoD stops at P7. What the devs said. And the existence of Phase 8. Turns SoD into a actively developing SoD Plus. The devs said expect fun after the season. Which was always stated to end at P7 Naxx. We all wanted the Plus and all roads lead to the SoDcore atm. Come on back brother.

I don't know why Blizzard felt the need to blueball TBC fans. A TBC fresh era server would have been amazing.

I think this is retail brain trying to analyze Hardcore play. Getting about half of 2019 launch just for Hardcore wow population is HUGE years later for a new fresh.

classic wow died soon as they opened the Dark Portal for TBC classic. classic never shouldve progressed. and now they are making different game modes OF classic to get you the player to stop playing era, because you dont have time to play every version of the game. its clear they dont want people playing era because they havent done shit to help what population is left. we have clusters that are dead, A CLUSTER. sure theres still people playing era. but the devs are burning people out of classic by only focusing on making new and different versions of classic such as SoM, SoD, even the Fresh servers got QoL. and era is just stuck there. retail is in a way better spot right now, but the overall story of the game sucks. and people are only playing hardcore because of a niche audience that enjoy the pain of leveling, or are followers of streamers who are doing the onlyfangs event and shit right now. its all just marketing BS to manipulate players to go where the devs want them to. ive met legit new players in era, who eventually quit because the population is impossible low to find dungeon leveling groups. sad. and fresh gets a simplistic dungeon finder. slap in the face. what an unfortunate situation to be in. crazy how the very people that scream #nochanges since 2019 classic, have left the very thing they demanded, for fresh, when era itself isnt even the original version of vanilla anymore, we have fucking chronoboons now people like hellp. era needs changes. the 1g chronoboon change is a good step forward, but man. few more years. when legion classic comes out. whats the point. 2 different versions of retail? 2 different versions of classic era/hardcore. seriously. the fragmentation of the playerbase like this makes obvious how one version over an other while eventually die out. era will be lucky to have 5000 players left within the next 2 years at this pace.

"Majority of Hardcore players are streamers". That's demonstrably untrue. This would be 10's of thousands of streamers. The game is popular, clearly you do not play it. Most people I see are just randoms enjoying the grind.

The biggest fuckup by Blizzard ever with the chronoboon will surely have a negative effect on population for anniversary servers. I'm considering going to pssevers with Blizz supporting exploiters now

I played on Nost, here is what I don't understand. We had a 20-25K population server half way across the world run out of someones moms basement by a group of kids with NO layers and very little to no lag for free in the BEST EXPERIENCE I have ever had in this game. How is it a multi billion dollar company run by blue haired talentless incompetent weirdo's cant even at least do the same while taking $15/month from us? Make Nost Great Again someone please.

It will be interesting to see TBC anniversary numbers. I'm sure there are alot of people interested in HC right now and HC was something that was never around during Classic release. Also with HC servers not moving into TBC, some players are guaranteed to move to the progression servers. I have seen some hype for TBC, but I still wouldn't expect it to do much better than vanilla anniversary.

I play HC on the anniversary server and it's overflowing with players at all levels, usually 9 layers at a time to keep up with the playerbase. And onlyfangs is not 50% of the population you see them running around occasionally along with their sister guild but I'd say they are 5% of the population.

You can't in good faith compare SoD P1 raid numbers to classic raid numbers. SoD P1 was only lvl 25 can do that in less than 20 hours of game time.

You can't forget that time period in March was RIGHT when COVID lockdowns hit much of the USA. So BWL peak also is COVID player increase since we were all locked inside.

I'm not a fan of this change. Sure, Chronoboons are much cheaper on SoD, but don't forget that we didn't used to have them at all. They weren't meant to be that accessible. If you wanted them, you had to actually play the game outside of raids. Now we're just gonna have raidloggers since the raids fund themselves.

World of Warcraft feels so unfocused and diluted right now. Retail, Cataclysm, SoD, Anniversary Fresh, Hardcore, all happening at the same time fighting for attention.

I'm surprised that anyone is surprised by the Classic numbers, were you expecting the same people to come back and do all of Classic again? And SOD numbers are low because it's a seasonal server and no one is gonna put all their time into a game mode that's going to end. I quit SOD in P2, retail is trash, and I'm not interested in Classic fresh, I'm waiting for Classic+ now, if they don't do it I won't ever resub.

Week 5 in fresh also have a couple of weeks for people levelling before MC and ony opened. In 2019 they were available from the start. Fresh should therefor be compared with week 7 or 8 from 2019.

leveling 2nd character now, theres tons of ppl, like tons of them, questing, doing dungeons, spamming dungeons, making groups, doing world pvp, tigers in stv are extinct 24/7 farmed by 15 ppl constantly, i am literally sick of seeing more and more ppl out there. rather went farming scarlet cos of this. so i dont see how is this dying now rly.

I only play wow classic +bc + wrath, for the leveling experience. Everyone running around in the world, grouping up for quests, all items having value, its the best, most pure MMO experience. End game is the death of the MMO experience for me. Nothing but raiding and hanging around your city. WoW killed the MMO genre, because no everyone tries to emulate the Wow Success, but they only copy the end game, never the long early game leveling.
