Trademark is nothing more than the Disneyfication of brands. Disney took everything from fairytales, sages and even history and took it to a Comercial raid on historic values. So, now Lidl, Aldi, and Trader Joe's do the same. Deal with it.

The companies that spend a lot of money on psychology, design, marketing, and advertising do get it all back via the prices they charge the customer, so the customer ends up paying to be manipulated, not the company. Everybody who shops at AlDI knows the products are not identical to the branded ones - and they all can read the big label on the product. In addition, the branded companies themselves have always had spies and scientists. Nobody's developing anything n a vacuum. Imagine if every airplane manufacturer had to build planes that looked completely different from those of another. Imagine if every car manufacturer couldn't completely copy the design of every other car manufacturer (LOL)! And in the U.S., if there weren't generic prescription drugs, most people would have to sell their homes to live another month. And fighting in court over colors and designs, when one label may resemble somewhat the label of another ,but is otherwise clearly identified as another product, is a frivolous waste of the court's resources. It's just a way for a big company to push smaller brands out of busines and jack up the price. And I say all this as a guy whose father worked on some of the biggest advertising campaigns the world had ever seen in the 1960s. It just gets silly.

That Dyson didn't/ aren't/won't bring prototypes of radically different technologies to potential future customers to give the new product a good kicking around is a wonderful way to learn lessons without blowing the company wad and reputation. I get and admire the company for starting with a clean sheet of paper when they tackle a perceived need, but in trying to be completly encumbered with the original technology, they dismiss what made the old design useful for whatever amount of time. The only problem I have with the technology of my clothes washer, is it taking an hour to get the job done. Not wasteful water--there is a very small used in Energy Star appliances--nor electricity. I've never understood people's obsession with cleaner clothes. If they are so concerned, they might try using smaller loads and the auto-water setting on the appliance with high-efficiency detergent. Taking a little more time and pre-washing using undiluted detergent that one would work into stains and perspiration rings is a trick we have all forgotten, but it does a marvelous job. Elon Musk, a man I thoroughly loathe, but a hell of a smart guy sets an example that I hope the Dyson Company takes note of. He came up with the hardest thing about the most important part of his automobile. He found as many uses as he could for it. It would be a key cost reducer and give his company the nimbleness that it was going to need to jump in this crazy industry he was diving into with full force and to keep the momentum up with astounding new products dropping like cluster bombs. I am a "high functioning" autistic and I have all sorts of attention deficit issues. I am either a drag or highly amusing. Ramifications apply here. I would happily spend a month peeking, gasping and staring in amazement in any studio property--what nervana! As for the movie? Sooner or later, I'd get around to seeing it streaming, but it never holds my attention. It's not that we don't have the means to show films that are impressive, I've been told by some of our more charming-er guests. I am of those Karens that'll bitch about movies not being where they need to be, To My Standards. Fin. I'm holding out for when they've got movies tearing up the dinner theater market, except with all the electronic doo-dads to kick immersive theater up a notch. I say they will catch this senile old goat attention when we are interacting with the characters and playing parts in the seemingly impromptu storyline. We have been pinching ideas off of Star Trek for sixty years, why aren't we further along with a holodeck? It will require better actors. It goes without saying that the dinner part of the evening must stand up to this. Stouffer's will not do.

I the time of high inflation- Aldi is providing value and good competition to help keep prices down. I go to Aldi and get an armful of goods for under $20, and would only get a couple of goods from Woolworths or Coles.

On a blind taste test done on hundreds of foods and drinks most of the time the named brands don't come top. So the name brands are not the best just the most expensive.

I always thought that the contra roting drums would wear out the clothes & almost certainly the machine needed an overload cut out in case of overloading whereas a traditional front loader doesn't (if overloaded the clothes go around as a solid mass and motor load is reduced). So I didnt' consider buying one for long.
