    I use 50 eights for everything and not only everything I've been using the same 58 for the last 15 years they're fucking indestructible and they sound amazing and for general use, you can really get by with using them for just about everything they might not excel at anyone given thing, but the fact that you only really need this one Mike for everything you need to do it's pretty damn cool

    $150? Try $229 in the color scheme your original pins come with! I bought the chrome with red dots and pocketed the savings for other music gear 👍

    After adding the liquidmetal pins to my D-35, there wasn't a noticeable difference at first, but as I went through my repertoire of songs, I definitely noticed different sounds, tighter pop on several notes up the neck, and an overall fuller sound. The most pronounced differences were in the high B and E strings, especially with a capo. My reason for buying them was to accelerate the break-in of my new (2023) D-35. I know the liquidmetal pins vibrate more, and I know that's going to open up the guitar more/faster... "know" being subjective, of course. I was also influenced by Larrivee's attitude of not liking plastic on a wood guitar. Yes, I could have gone with bone bridge pins, and I've had great success adding bone instead of plastic on other acoustics I own, but I'm able to afford $100 bridge pins so why not. Thanks for the great video!

      Great Review!. Randal I have a question about the D35. Recently, I bought a D35 in my local store. The guitar sounded really well, but it felt a little stiff. For that reason, I took it to a luthier for a complete setup (level the frets, the nut, saddle, change the strings for an elixir .12 and to adjust the bridge, etc). After all this work, I feel that the guitar changed, lost sound, and it feels more stiff. My question is: changing the string and reducing the nut and slot height could affect the sound of the guitar? I'm thinking about to purchase a new nut, saddle and .13 strings from Martin to recover the original sound and feeling. What do you think?

    • @RandallWhitted
      @RandallWhitted Месяц назад

      @@sonoman9095 Interesting - do you know if anything was done to it before you had it? I've had Larrivees do similar to what you're saying when the action was lowered - maybe turn the truss rod yourself to give the strings a bit more room to move? I wouldn't bother with a new nut and saddle, unless they were shaved down. I'd recommend Martin's Bluegrass strings for the .56 low E - though I've been putting StringJoy on everything I own now. Really impressive strings. I'm also sold on the ToneRite for opening up my guitars and to break in new strings.

    Just considering this amp head for the portability and jack of all trades aspects primarily for jam space. We play a wide variety of music, and I've struggle forever with using an electric acoustic playing through a guitar amp. I need the guitar amp for my electric....Anyway the acoustic is competing against another electric guitar, bass and loud drummer and its impossible using a guitar amp to get the acoustic loud enough without the wild feedback issues (i use a sound hole cover too). I can't really run it through the PA So will this Katana help in that setting for the acoustic guitar? Can you get the volume loud enough? I noticed that there is no feedback control on the Katana if that would help enough. Also the head would be run through a greenbacks cab. Any thoughts on that? Or is there some other solution out there (not PA) for both electric guitar and acoustic to get the acoustic loud enough for band level and not have to carry 2 amps around? Any good pedal preamps into a ss amp perhaps? Thanks - a bunch of questions there - appreciate opinions....Great video too! Peace

      This is def an option. Also you could consider a Line 6 pod go or HX stomp, and use a FRFR speaker as a cabinet rather than a normal guitar cab. Also on the acoustic plugged in on a loud stage you can grab one of those sound hole plug things , they’re pretty great at helping with feedback and you can pop it in and out as needdd

    I'm not really a fan of either of those mics for live singing, as I play guitar at the same time and move around a bit. They are super cardoid, a little unforgiving if you are off axis or too abrupt for me with mic technique. I prefer the standard cardoid versions of those mics, the Shure SM58 and the Sennheiser E935. It's smoother for me to manage plosives and with mic technique. And out of these 2 I prefer the Sennheiser E935. But i have a higher range voice.
