You talk to much
Mute it 🤷🏻♂️
This is how a real el camino looks. No need to change appearence
It’s had a few appearance changes since this video. Cowl hood and some pro star looking wheels. It’s a solid car now though, he followed us on PowerTour back in June
Stupid shitkicker nonsense. What was the point of destroying a perfectly good motor?
What spring hangers did you use in the back, 2nd or 4wd? Did you use a drop shackle?
2wd hangers and shackles. Unless he went back and put a drop shackle on it.
That floor has been hacked to sh$%!! And that frame rail looks like swiss cheese with all those bolt holes in it. The brake/clutch setup looks great. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
Thanks! New sub. I was looking for a reason my old one-wire alt drains the battery to ZERO overnight. I just got my 69 C10 back from a "mechanic" that rewired some stuff. He added a negative terminal disconnect and said the new EFI had a drain. It does a little but not enough to kill an Optima red overnight. I'm thinkin he wired it wrong. He did some other dumb stuff too. Time for me to work on it!
Glad the video was helpful. Hopefully you get it all sorted out and thanks for watching and subscribing.
gotta be the el camino
I plead the fifth….
There’s more than one car at the Left for Dead Garage that is capable of letting the smoke out of a set of tires. Looks like he’s pleading the fifth. 😂
Now that’s what I’m talking about…. Awesome!
I’d hate to be my neighbor 😂😂😂
We did it for decades and not blew up a single one with out these modern contraptions to rely on.
lol yea valve float was the limiting factor
Funny how people are not able to control the engine in a vehicle without the rev limiter
The factory supplies the feature so I’ll abuse it, it’s just fun music
If I only had a dollar for every time I use an exhaust pipe for a pillow #jackstandlife
20 pounds of $hit in a two pound bag. Those pedal centerlines seem pretty far apart. The Vair is 8 inched between centers. What’s the center distance on the Impala? My brother had similar issues on his 51 Studebaker/small block Ford setup. He did what you are thinking about. He cut the tabs and shifted the pedals to the left a couple of inches.
Not only did Ray Charles work on the Truck he also had 3 blind mice and a barrel of monkey's working on it. It was a circus I tell you ! And the ring Master is an IDIOT !!! I just don't know how else to put it !!!!! LEFT FOR DEAD GARAGE THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU I am so sorry for the cluster I dropped in your lap.
Hopefully I can get it to the level it needs to be, something you can trust and enjoy.
I always felt those cars should have air cleaners on them.I'm glad they went to a good home.
Panza makes a way better kit and always answers any questions
His is for sure nicer and the price reflects that. Both of these kits have their place for builds. Now that I’ve done this one, I’ll continue to use Russ’s kit unless a customer wants Henry’s kit.
It a miracle you have any hair left.
😂😂 that’s why I keep is short, can’t get ahold of it to pull it out.
I may have a couple injectors if you need them.
I hope it’s all good now.
did ya see the other Elco build on youtube that body swapped an elco body onto a 4wd honda crv
I think I seen a short clip on a Facebook reel, not seen the build yet.
For these older return style LS fuel systems, you need an ACDelco pump for it to function properly. Aftermarket ones fail and are cheaply made or have extra parts attached that aren’t necessary. I learned my lesson after I bought an aftermarket pump which looked very identical to the OEM one. 4k miles later and the float completely broke off inside my tank and took out the signal wire for the gas gauge.
The pump is a walbro.
Don’t give up. Stay focused. One task at a time !
Oh I keep way too many irons in the fire lol. Update video on this car went up yesterday.
Dude, I did a complete new set of injectors on my Dakota last year, the parts were purchased at one of our local parts stores. One of the injectors was bad out of the box, a second one failed 300 miles later. I ended up replacing the 2 bad injectors with the ones I removed. These aftermarket parts are trash.
It’s terrible to have to gamble on new parts.
Fk yeah man. I have a 64 SS that I stopped working on in 2010 when my dad died. I’ve been thinking about seeking it because the floors are gone. Had a guy restoring it back before dad died but I ran out of funds and a drive to do it after that. This makes me really want to try to do the floors myself. I was outside cleaning the whole thing out today as it’s literally been sitting with all the parts in it for like 14 years. It already has new rear quarters. So floor pans and trunk pan is pretty much it. Great work
@@DustinClarkSTL man get back on that thing and go put some miles down!! I wish I’d started on mine before my dad passed. Only reason I have it is because he thought I needed it. Good luck with it! Oh and thanks for watching
Glad to see the Elco started up....finally. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
❤
What size convertor you running?
I just picked up an 88 f150 4x4 XLT Lariat. Originally from Montana. 302, 5 speed. My 3rd one of this. Love 'em! Great video, and looking forward to seeing what you do with her!
I put a lot into that truck and was daily driving it but it’s a perpetual pile. It’s now sitting out on death row because it wiped out the cam.
@LeftForDeadGarage oh man ...that stinks....Lotta work to replace a cam...been there.....sorry man.
@65f100352 yea I wanted that truck for a while, it was much more comfortable than my c10 and more room. Belonged to the wife’s grandfather so I was planning on keeping it alive but it just rejected living in a GM household lol.
@@LeftForDeadGarage lol! Maybe they know something we don't?
It feels good once you figure it out but while it’s fighting you sometimes you just want to burn them to the ground. Looks like you got this one under control at this point.
Lord I hope I have it under control, hopefully then next video on it will be the last.
@Brocracks yeah I feel you bro in had the same problem with my first swap corvet fuel filter regulator oh man it was the sending unit has a little tiny return hole so I just drill it out and salve the problem
On the gas tank What sending unit or you using
Pretty sure Be bought the tbi sending unit.
@LeftForDeadGarage take your sending unit and unplug the the return on the sending unit
@RigocerdaCerda that wasn’t it.
I know what it is
I modified the sending unit, cover that in the next video.
@LeftForDeadGarage oh right cool bro good luck on your swap I started my 86 el camino last week need to put the gas tank back
The return was a non barbed 5/16 line, it looked like it should have been the vent. The vent was 3/8 and barbed to accept the two piece fitting to use a -6 fitting. So it was an easy mix up but with disastrous results. That all went in when I was just helping him finish the car, probably three years ago. Not sure if that will be next weeks video or an update video on the 49 truck.
Every time I see a video on this truck, it just keeps getting worse. I mean, how did the shop that did this stuff ever think that any of this junk is ok? If that truck ran, it would have killed her when the steering wheel came off
It’s pretty wild. I had another horror story find me about that shop too.
Great review video. With some luck and good fortune that could be a pretty sweet big block. Look forward to seeing how this one turns out. Be safe and stay well.
Budget engine builds peak my interest lol thought I'd ask you while I'm here do you know anyone with a ratty used set of std gm trw 427 pistons? My areas slap out lol
I don’t know anyone right off but I’ll keep an eye out for you.
Talk to Larry about Howard’s cams.
lol I’ve got one in mind, my idea has changed since I videoed this 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Nice score...Best Regards
What driveshaft did you use
Had the factory one cut down
Was the truck ticking ,im trying to figure out if thats my problem
It would on cold weather start up and was really slow to build oil psi.
Thanks
Great save on that adapter. Wow. Another hodge-podge of parts that don't work together. Look forward to seeing what's next. Trust you had a good 4th of July holiday. Be safe and stay well.
She’s coming together. I can’t wait to see her around town. Keep up the good work Peace.
Nice work
Fun stuff
One step closer........
Love it
New subscriber from honest Peyton’s speed shop. I’m actually starting a 49 Chevy build very soon. S10 frame turbo LS cruiser.
Nice. I’d just subscribed to you as well, I’d like to follow that turbo 49 build.
@@LeftForDeadGarage awesome. I need to finish Lomax and Oscar I’m guessing late august early September
Lomax is a 66 f600!that was a grain truck. Now it’s a pickup and I’m giving it away. Oscars a 73 cabover.
Nice work, great video brotha!
Looks like two adapters on column
That’s probably why it has the cage and the hub, wrong hub for the wheel? Idk
How does the kit ride, where I live the roads can be super rough so I’m a bit hesitant to lower my truck
@@pepsi_can3070 you for sure need to run the coil spring spacers for the front, for smooth roads too. You know it lowered but it’s not awful. Tire choice will be very important, stay with something that has plenty of sidewall.
Some progress on Pinky is always a good thing. Glad to hear the owner likes the name Pinky. So nice to have a fully equipped machine shop at your disposal. Great work on the rear-end. Seems every area of this truck needs 'correcting'. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well..
Finally getting around to watching. Life’s been busy. 🙄
That's a great quote. WELCOME BACK TO NOTHING GETS DONE 😂 that's so true drive around all day chasing parts. LOL
Get up early, hit the door running with a full game plan and next thing you know the day is wrecked and your no further ahead than you were yesterday 😂😂😂.
@@LeftForDeadGarage lol story of this fine automotive life. 🤣 take care brother
I love the color pink 💗 💓 💕 💖
It’s pretty awesome when the sun hits it with the pearl and metallic that in it.
