    I'm right there with you and we're not alone. A lot of people feel the same way, but either aren't fortunate enough to have a soft landing to fall back on or aren't okay with the idea of being poor. I just quit my job after 13+ years and it's lifted such a dark and heavy weight off my shoulders. Although I was making a solid salary, it was crushing my soul. Looking back it almost feels inhumane and I don't doubt it's a big reason why a lot of people are on anxiety and depression meds in the West. We worship that dollar. You could be a terrible human being, but if you're rich or portray a lifestyle of being rich, people will treat you like you're the second coming of Christ. Anyways, I just want to thank you for being so raw and real in such a vulnerable moment. I respect the hell out of that and it's what everyone is craving. Like Thoreau says, "More than love, money, fame....give me truth." You're helping people by sharing your heart and it's inspiring. Ideally people like you and videos like this are going to be a spark or one of the sparks that ignites change. Keep doing you.

    And once you are "unemployed", you are perceived a certain way by prospective employers. But if you are pursuing your own business, then enjoy the challenge. A corporate job (in insurance no less) is not designed to be 'creative". So one needs to be aware of the nature of the business. It's way better for the company, who will benefit from hiring someone that WANTS to be there.

  • @elizmon8526
    @elizmon8526 20 дней назад

    I don't allow a "corporate Job" to dictate who I am, or how free I feel. I am free to be me, do as I want. It's a JOB, nothing more. People have mortgages, fixed expenses and other obligations. So quitting is not an option for many. When you are young, and living at home, the options are more there. I don't feel "stuck" at all. I get to pursue what I love and want on the weekends and evenings. I feel grateful for being employed.

    • @__nicoleerin

      that is great for you! i think it's a very person-to-person thing as to whether a 9-5 structure feels fulfilling or not- there's no wrong or right, just what is right for that person :) and yes exactly, i totally agree and acknowledge that quitting is not an option for many- i speak about that in a few of my videos; i had the privilege of still living at home when i quit which gave me the flexibility to begin building my own businesses without having to worry about too many expenses or huge obligations like those you listed.

    I left a job where the supervisor was more on the side of a guy who screwed up and messed up and was constantly trying to put blame elsewhere. Where I had proof that he would mess up. Finally after getting sick I left the company with benefits and went to another job with no benefits but the same environment but now the guy was the boss. I feel trapped and I want to quit. I have a small side hustle that is hardly making any move to take off. I’m alone and tired and have no one to really to turn to and I’m afraid I’m going to get sick again. I want to quit and I’m afraid that I won’t be able to afford to live off my tiny savings and try to get my side hustle really going. I don’t know what to do and I’m scared I’m just going to end up in another lousy job. I know my side hustle will work it’s just a time factor. And leg work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    This video is almost too relatable. I think perfectionism never goes away, as long as we have an ego, which we always will. I quit my job a month ago to become get a commercial pilots license. I could only imagine the pressure I could put on myself flying a $100 million plane with hundreds of people on board, every time you press the intercom you know they all will judge how you talk, every time you press the radio dozens of people who have years more experience will judge how quickly and efficiently you can state the information that needs to be said. I recently read The Wisdom of Insecurity by Alan Watts which I think can be applied to perfectionism. He says the mind and experience are the same thing, so when the mind causes itself pain (the experience of pain) we try to run away from it, but it cannot run away from itself. "Running away from fear is fear, fighting pain is pain, trying to be brave is being scared. If the mind is in pain, the mind is pain. The thinker has no other form than his thought. There is no escape.” For me, it was really valuable to find out why I pushed myself so hard to be perfect. Alan Watts says its because we are insecure. And what we do about it is constantly think about the future, ensuring that one day in the future we will be content but when that day comes we are too busy thinking about the future still, ignoring the present and never being content at all. Anyways, I think I am done rambling. Are you planning on making more of these videos talking about your struggles (in general, doesn't have to be about perfectionism)? Because I really enjoyed this video.

    This might not help with that but it could help your eyeliner game: instead of stretching your eye across horizontally, draw your wing to line up with the last third of your lower lid. That angle will be the perfect angle to lengthen your eyes without dragging them down at the outer corners. Its the only useful trick I've learned from perfectionism in all my 22 years of life. Perfectionism is a stress coping mechanism, and not a healthy one. See a therapist if you haven't found alternatives.

    • @__nicoleerin

      hey girl, thanku for the tip! 🤍 this day was definitely one of those where i kept messing up so it just kept getting longer and thicker 🙃 but hey there you go i'm glad perfectionism has served you well with your eyeliner at least lol. you're so right though about it being a stress cope. this video was meant to highlight how unhealthy perfectionism is, i hope that came across 🤍

      awh thanku so much ❤️ the only "cure" i've found is truly accepting the possibility that whatever you make could in fact be bad, or a failure, or received poorly by others. at the end of the day that's what causes the procrastinating. so if you get over that fear of the worst case scenario, it's a lot easier to start! the 80/20 rule helps, too. doing something until you deem it 80% done. because the amount of time it would take you to make it 100% to your standards probably wouldn't be worth it in the long run. it's more important for the thing you're working on to be in the real world at all.
