This is an original broadcast from WVVX 103.1 FM (Real Precious Metal) that was in Highland Park, Illinois with Scott Loftus broadcasting live at the show from Merrillville, Indiana that I recorded on a cassette tape at the time from over the radio. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have been for the last 35 years. Setlist: 1. Motor City Madhouse. 2. Just what the doctor ordered. 3. Free for...

The Nuge at his best. It was one damn good show!
103.1 was a great radio station!!! Thanks for uploading!
Yes it was!
Holy shit, I was at this show, probably the loudest concert I ever went to. Thanks for posting this
@enots67 Glad you liked it. Hope it brings back memories.
WOW!
Je l'ai vue en 88 à Paris c'était fou...
🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉😊
🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉😊
Good karaoke singer.
saw them last night 7/30/24 in Bridgeport Ct and they sounded great wonderful show with EWF
I never, until today, heard a correlation between Ted's riffs and early Metallica; however, Dave Mustaine categorically stated that Ted Nugent is one of his favorite guitarists.
The changes within the band this time is very significant that I no longer have no slightest idea of who are in the band now other than Robert, Lee, and James. The original is of course the best but the formation with Tris, Jason, Keith, and Bill are very endearing to me and a lot of younger Chicago fans who came to know them in the 80's and 90's, and from what I've heard they played the Chicago songs superbly with great musicianship. THat formation I also think the longest Chicago formation, from the time Keith replaced Dawayne Bailey until Bill Champlin was replaced with Lou (1995-2009). That formation also produced the biggest number of full concerts available on RUclips, so their visuals are really strong in our memories.
🔥
Go see CTA or Leonid and Friends instead
Exactly! Leonid & Friends are better then the latest orginal Chicago group, of whatever is left of them. Leonidas & Friends have alot of more energy then the originals. Plus they play their songs the way I remembered them.
Keyboards, trumpet, trombone only original ones left but they still have a great catalog to choose from.
agree 100%
It now takes 10 guys to do what 7 were only needed to accomplish!!!
In agreement 100%. Born and raised on the west side of Chicago. I saw the original 7 members, namely Cetera, Kath, Seraphine, Lamm, Pankow, Parazaider and Loughnane. Outstanding musicians and vocalists. Tribute band? Cover band? Regardless this is not Chicago to me. Just my opinion. Be well.
Danny and CTA kick this bands behind!
Yeah I saw them at Red Rocks, and Fiddlers Green they were excellent both times
What it used to be..
Lon
I saw them in 2014 at Red Rocks with REO speedwagon. Both bands got together at the end and did 6 songs of each others. amazing night!
A shadow of what they once were...Unfortunately...Once "Chucky" retired Chicago lost his legendary voice and are just another average band...Cetera really made their songs come alive...at least for me and just imho...
And "the band" plays on! I still have not seen them live ☝️ but, maybe this is the "the year" Beginnings! 😉
I think the band is great these days. Life happens and if the original members want to contract younger members to keep going., more power to them. By the way , it seems like the people complaining about the band are using a copy and paste comment on all of the Chicago videos out there. Like they say it’s not 1967 anymore. I appreciate that the remaining members carefully choose their new young talent in order to keep the Chicago experience alive. Good work on the video too. 👍
I totally agree. People expect them to sound like their first album just came out. It doesn't work that way. They still sound great and it gives new generations a chance to experience Chicago Live.
I saw the band about two weeks before this video. Yeah, it's not the same as the original group, but as you said they are doing great. Brings back a lot of memories.
Great job on both of those songs, but for years no Wah Wah in 25 or 6 to4 solos, that takes away from that song
I was at this concert! On the floor in the front! Thank you for posting this ❤🎉
No problem.
What an animal
Thanks so much for uploading this. Really enjoying it
Glad you enjoy it!
I saw Ted in 88 at Manchester Apollo. Still remember
totally hate the lead singer.
pathetic
That's just your opinion, we don't agree.
Pretty bad
The russian and ukranian guys do much much better
Just realized the original lineup of 7 has now evolved into 11 !! Great group of guys, and really enjoying themselves, for sure! Just an observation, having a trumpet-playing brother who used to be in a Chicago-inspired band, I can't imagine the physical strength and stamina it takes to get out there and play a brass or woodwind instrument on all those songs, many of them in upper ranges, pretty much continuously throughout the gig-- especially at Lee and Jimmy's ages! Very difficult, but they are so dedicated. I wonder if it has something to do with the realization that, at best, none of us is going to be here forever, so we need to go for it while we still can.
And only 3 original members.
Good times I remember
Springfield Illinois last June Y’all rock😢the damn place
I don't mean to criticize, and I completely understand the band wanting to stay together. Maybe it's because I saw Terry Kath 8 times, I feel very fortunate and blessed. To me, this isn't Chicago anymore but just a watered down version of the original band.
Everyone has their opinion and I respect that you don’t care for this version of the band. If you saw them perform live, the band is giving 110 percent of their talent. I realize this isn’t the original lineup but let’s just enjoy the music. I love Chicago!! It’s not 1967, though they are still going stronger every day.
@@michaelackerman3823 Thanks for your honesty and integrity in commenting. Actually, listening to them now, they sound a lot better than the Bill Champlin days.
Loving the video montage in the background ❤
I love this! What a great job and legendary band.
Thank you. video tip. It's okay to Zoom in for a bit like you did in the guitar solo.
Not many originals left 2 maybe?
Three. Rob, James and Lee.
This isn't Chicago, it's a cover band. I feel sorry for the people that paid way too much money to see this farce. Retire and go away.
Give it up... sad to see you trying for what used to be.
Is that what you did?
@thesaneparty4079 I wouldn't pretend I'm in a band that no longer exists, other than on recordings, but I'd keep playing.
@@keithmccabe4040 We'll never know, but I suspect you'd do what generated the highest revenue. In all these cases people are voting with their dollars and if enough people agree with you, they will stop as you suggest. For now, seems like it's a pretty packed show.
@@thesaneparty4079 The value of nostalgia. Isn't it quaint.
I get ya, Keith, but when you consider that Lamm, Pankow, and Loughnane are still at the nucleus of things, I'm kinda okay with Chicago pressing ahead! They seem to be having more fun right now than in the time frame just before Terry died (1978), where, at least to my eye, they seemed utterly exhausted and just kind of going through the motions.
Old guys still got it! Legendary!!!
I was there
Nice. I wish I was. Saw him there many times, though. Just not that day. Only via radio recording it.
He was tapping at 1:34:52
Snakeskin cowboys is very rolling stones but heavier
This is 1988 when If you cant lick em came out and little miss dangerous came out two years prior in 1986 two of his best LP'S. saw him first 1976 and last time in 2023 in Lancater PA Still rocks even at 75. Enjoy retirement Uncle Ted.
He didn't retire. Just stopped touring like a madman. Check out the Cactus cover that he just did with Dug Pinnick and Carmine Appice. Phenomenal!
I saw Ted with Lita Ford there. Great concert. It might have been this one.
Lita Ford did open up that night.
Ted always gives 100%! This show is just mesmerizing. Just a killer.
You said it!
Amazing here ❤❤😂😂❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤
Ah the If You Can't Lick Em.....Lick Em Tour!
I’m sure I saw this at Manchester Apollo Krokus supported. Am I correct????
Lita Ford opened up this night of the show.
@@gv4189 At Manchester Apollo. Krokus we’re the support
@@peterkabrna you’re correct. I was at the Hammersmith show with Krokus as support.
Amazing - I've never seen a Ted setlist quite like this. Thx for sharing!!!
Your welcome. Enjoy!
