Saving the greater glider one den tree at a time - Tallaganda State Forest
Since August 2023, all logging operations within Tallaganda State Forest have ceased. This is a result of the on-ground work being led by Wilderness Australia, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and South East Forest Rescue (SEFR).
In the fog-shrouded forests of Tallaganda, at around 1,200 metres of elevation, we have been trudging through the undergrowth at night with powerful spotlights. We are searching for the homes of the endangered Greater Glider, located high in the tall trees. Finding forest refugia in Glenbog

We visit the climate refugia forest in Glenbog in south eastern NSW. Forest refugia are the 'Noah's Arks' in which vulnerable and threatened wildlife can persist safely in the long term despite increasing bushfires and droughts under climate change.

ABC news regarding the swamps on the Newnes Plateau that are threatened by coal mining. Coal mining which is clearly a threatening process to swamps can't just be assumed as low risk.

The Garry Caganoff production for the Dunphy's Kowmung Adventure, Colong Wilderness walk. Shows Alex, Sierra and Wyn describing their experiences re-enacting the 1914 Myles Dunphy and Bert Gallop walk. It was on this walk that Myles began to get an appreciation for how special the Blue Mountains region was and the need for its conservation.

What are the challenges facing wilderness in the 21st century.
Can we get this area added to Tallaganda National park and locked away from loggers permanently? Save the gliders and other natives.
I run the fire trails through talaganda whenever i can. Thankyou for doing this incredibly important work! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Does protecting Tallaganda from logging mean gates to lock out the public or just stop the logging?
Vital work! Litigation is the road to end logging of native ancient forests for good! Victoria's forest defenders have led the way, now onto ALL other states! Logging of forests = ECOCIDE! We need to legislate this into law!

Thank you Brad, it's been a rewarding job, and I'll be undertaking wilderness investigations after a holiday. I'm going to try out living in Katoomba over winter. If I enjoy winter I'll be moving up, although the city has its benefits, wilderness ain't one of them. C u in the bush.
I just hope if more people trek to this beautiful place be mindful to not leave anything behind (Rubbish ect)....
This is an untapped asset, whilst providing better protection into the future it is one opportunity to provide future sustainable economic viability
