Honestly I was a bit skeptical about The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but I'm glad it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I do like sad stories but it's also good to find books that can make you laugh out loud. I was fairly sure you were going to prefer East of Eden, but oh boy it surpassed all my expectations, what a journey! HappyNew Year Jack! I loved seeing your top 10 books of 2024. I'm still trying to decide what mine were, last year was so full on for me. I'll update you later. 2025 hasn't had the greatest start for me as I suffered a really nasty accident but I will be ok.

I have Sleeping Children (in the German translation) on my list too. Such an interesting premise. I also loved On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, so I'm really intrigued to read The Emperor of Gladness too.

I am not really on top of new releases so I will let them surprise me during 2025. I have so many books; backlists of new fave authors that I discovered on 2024, favourite books that I want to reread etc, that I don't know if I have room for new releases on top of that. 😂

Hi Jack!!! 😊 I'm so excited about The Emperor of Gladness! I was so happy to see that Ocean Vuong was going to release a new book but after reading the synopsis I'm even more excited! I haven't read anything by Tash Aw either, but thank you for intriducing this author to me, The South sounds really interesting. I'm also quite intrigued by Sleeping Children even if I think it might be break my heart 😅 I'm always quite clueless when it comes to new releases, but I've heard there will be a new book by R. F. Kuang this year so that's something I'm really looking forward to. Have a lovely week!

Small Things Like These, 1,000% agree! I have a Nonfiction book I am reading this month as a companion to the historical component to that book (don’t want to give spoilers here) that I hope to learn more from.

The Gallopers made my top 10 list this year too! His writing is unique and doing something different. I order The Whale Tattoo, but I haven’t gotten it yet. I had to order it from the UK, so that big ‘ole pond, takes a while to get across 😂
