Let´s find out what the D´Addario NYXL bass strings have to offer. They cost significantally more, but what about the sound & feel? The bass has been plugged directly into the sound interface (Behringer UMC-404HD). A bit of EQ & compression has been added in Cubase. Thx a lot for watching!

The Ampeg Classic Analog Bass Preamp vs. SVT rig
hey eleven ! Can you tell me if the models sold today have the same features and are as good as yours?
Hi there. From what I've heard and seen myself so far, the new Squier CV basses are still good instruments. But somehow, these specific Classic Vibes series is a sweet spot when it comes to features, build quality and sound.
I absolutely love my V7. The only issue I had with it was neck dive. Replaced the stock tuning heads with a set of Gotoh GB 528s and there is no longer an issue.
awesome playing ... really cool
Thanks a lot!

Thx a lot for watching and commenting.
Greatest p bass solo, I keep coming back since years for more of this. What is the scale you are using for soloing here?
Thx a lot for your nice words. It's essentially just minor pentatonic with some dorian scale. 🙂
@@MichaelSchmittElevenoh wow I hear more things like diminished runs, Hungarian minor kind of vibes. I think need to come back some more several years to enjoy and understand the harmony. Thank you. 😊
@erkozen You're definitely right. Plus, some chromatics here and there. Thing is, I'm not all that good with noodling around. I much more prefer playing to other instruments.
@@MichaelSchmittEleven well you are such an inspiration for me, thank you and waiting for new noodling videos☺️
I think there's more middle in the NYXL.
I think you're right! Thx a lot for watching and commenting. 🙂
Nice video, sounds great!
Thx a lot for watching and commenting
Have to say that your playing is incredibly good!
Wow, thank you!
Nice review, playing and sound, thanks!
Glad you've enjoyed it.
Love it that,s what's up
I have the P7. and that battery cover is a pain. I've some small neodymium rod magnets, the same lenths as the screw holes, so with a little expansion they should fin in. going to make a .5mm plate that fit's the hole and then with back it with a piece a wood or carbon fibre, Or maybe the original cover with faux screw heads. A guitar pick should be enough to open it.
Just yesterday I changed strings on my Sandberg TM which has been somewhat overdue. The NYXL are noticeably adding some tone and handling comfort. Obviously, I can not yet say anything about their longevity, but the 170s already had a great lifespan until they lost too much brightness and became dull. I like the NYXL and will get them for my other basses, as well.
That's great! For me, they last quite a bit longer than the normal NYXL. Thx for commenting. Have a peaceful and musical Xmas! 😀
Normally, for my taste, what you played is overplaying in my books. To explain this view I offer that the bass part has a distinct note clutter which transforms an otherwise standard musical piece into a almost bass guitar master class track. That said though, I really really like the adventurous bass work offered in your performance. How could I possibly hate on something I mostly and actually enjoyed listening to anyways. One of those rare moments when my pretentious high brow musical tastes is actually challenged by a blistering performance because of the over riding qualities but posses ,above all of my or any of my musical prejudices and preferences, a standard of musicality i respect and enjoy outright thus eclipsing my former judgements. In short, this is overplaying by my own standards, of any worth is up to you, but actually I am moved and excited by this performance moreover and so my critical voice is eclipsed all together. My final review: quite simply awesome stuff! Such a fun and spritely and spirited version. Who cares what I normally prefer. I'm won over by the spirit of this playing. Great job. I hope my review is a welcome one. From a drummer no less btw. Awesome playing, very exciting phrasing , pricks the ear in a great way
Thx a lot! Your words and critique are highly appreciated! 🙂🙏🏻 I've always been a player who isn't too much into "covering" something tone by tone. Call it laziness, or lack of skill... 😅 But I'm more interested in approaching a song and seeing where it leads me, if that makes any sense. However, thx again for watching and commenting! It's always great to hear, that someone is touched by what I do. After all, that's the main reason for me to be a musician. Have a safe and musical merry Xmas!
Amazing playing, tasty sound👍
Thx a lot. 😀🙏🏻
Almost thought that the first backing track was Fine Girl by Frank Zappa for a minute.

Man i can’t tell which i prefer. Both sound pretty darn good to my ears.
Thx a lot for watching and leaving a comment. I love them both as well. And the good thing is, for their prices, it's not too hard to own them both. 😀
Slapping is perfekt. Best bass Player that i ever hered. Amazing. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wow, thx so much, bro! Your kind words are highly appreciated! 🙏🏻😀

Uncredible !!!!!!!!
🙏🏻🥰
No soldering but it took me a lot longer than afew minutes to piece it together the diagrams were a bit difficult for me to follow
Ok, I hope you like the result as much as I do. 😀
Is this bass balanced? My current one has neck dive problems and it's so annoying. I'm searching for a bass that is well balanced, especially when I'm playing standing up
It has a neck dive tendency, like all my Fender style basses. But nothing, a good strap couldn't sort out. 😀
@@MichaelSchmittEleven thank you!
That Jazz bass sounds great! I see an experienced player that knows the tone comes from the fingers also! Great playing!
Thx a lot for your kind words! 😀🙏🏻
UGGGHHH THE BASS IS MY FAVORITE PAAARRTTT.. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THISSSS
Thx a lot glad, you've enjoyed it. 😀
@@MichaelSchmittEleven Of course, man! Thank YOU for making this video.
@@ech0zzz😀🙏🏻
what’s the bass called for 0:37 ?
It's a Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Bass
Tracking sucks as expected. I don't think they will ever solve that issue.
Works better with guitar.
Hallo Michael.
Soundwise I would still prefer the sire. Who wouldve thought.
I really enjoy them both. But I tend to play the Sire more often.
Hey Michael! Have you tried out the VTC preamp on the MetroExpress? I installed one in mine, and having the the tone control is really nice. Thanks for this comparison, they both sound great.
It's in there now. And it gave the bass even better sound. 😉
Great comparison and superb playing, Michael! Glad to see you're back recording stuff :)
Thx a lot! Glad you've enjoyed it! 🙏🏻😀
My Sire V75 weighed slightly over 11 lbs which is a bit heavy. It is a well made bass and good sounding. Other problems-during a live gig it was difficult to change settings on the too many knobs and the slightest move on knobs changed sounds a lot. My band does not permit making noise between songs and I greatly missed the 5 way Strat style pickup selector like on my Stingray 5 HH where I did not have to fiddle with knobs at all. The other thing I hated about it was the Jazz Bass Hum! I have long played Stingrays and P Basses which do not hum and I got tired of this bass. The P7 probably would have been a better choice. Liked your review-nice work. The V7 sure is pretty and yours is just gorgeous. Well worth the $.
Thx a lot for your nice words. And you have some valid points here. I play my Sires more or less passive only (very seldomly, I use the active EQ for a bit of bass boost when I play the bridge PU only). As for the hum, I played my 73 Jazz Bass exclusively for a long time, so I got pretty used to the single coil hum, i guess. 😉 All in all, the V7 4 and 5-string are still my most played instruments when gigging. All the best. 🙏🏻😀
what’s the thing at the top of the bass that makes the strings lower?
It's the string retainer that keeps the open strings from rattling.
Michael I am considering buying a bass, the two different basses Im deciding between is this V7 or a Squier classic vibe. The V7 is $300 more expensive. I am wondering if you think I am better off with the Sire?
The Squier is a great instrument for sure. The $300 more will give you a sheer endless variety of sounds and very nice features like the rolled off fretboard. All the best.
@@MichaelSchmittEleven Thanks heaps man, yeah I will get the V7! I did see a Squire review saying that they can be a bit hit and miss quality wise. I appreciate your videos!! cheers
You won't regret it. Would be cool to hear your impressions, when you have the instrument in your hands. 😀
@@MichaelSchmittEleven Cool Michael, I will post something on it, cheers
Nice tune ! I have a set of one year old d'addario chromes on my Pbass too ... sounding better and better every time I pick her up !
That's what I love about this combination. 😀 Thx a lot watching and commenting.
Great to see!

Thx.

I really like this bass a lot. 😀

Great detailed review. thank you. Very suitable guitar for the price. A must buy.
Thx a lot for watching and commenting.
Very cool, as always. Amazing playing, amazing sound.
Thx a lot. Glad you've enjoyed it. 🙏🏻😀
Great sound ! Is this the regular V7 or the vintage version ?
It's the regular V7 2nd generation.
Could you do a sound comparison between the alder and swamp ash versions ?
That would be a great idea for sure.
That color is perfection. Wish they would have the V8 in the roster maple neck with that color. Great video!
Thx a lot. It's a real beauty. And one of my most played instruments.
