When Buying a Massey Harris Auction Tractor Goes Wrong......

In this video we tear down the Massey Harris 44 tractor after it was discovered that the engine was tired. A good lesson at auctions is to over inspect the machine, because you never really know what your buying. Rescuing a World War 2 Era Farmall! (1942 Farmall H)
After some time in the field this exact machine did indeed clean right up, it stopped wet-stacking about 8 - 12 acres in pulling a 3 bottom plow, now it runs as strong and smoothly as ever, of course I also did a complete service on this machine before it started work
Glad your able to put the machine to the test and let that old CAT work hard again.
The fenders on that Farmall h are from a Minneapolis Moline model U
Your right, went looking at it today and compared them to a UTU we have and also a set of 560 fenders and they are exactly the same as a Minneapolis Moline U. You have a good eye!
I am from India I have a 420 John Deere I need spare part
Nice to see that there’s still people that’s into antique tractors I’m currently trying to sell my 1944 John Deere B I’ve done a lot of work to it trying to sell to get another tractor
Good luck with selling your tractor!
Love to have that f20
@@DerrickCook-m6n it's for sale
@ThreeGenerationsRestoration what are you asking
I was looking at a f20 that had the steel wheels plus the tire wheels. It had electric start, engine was locked up and they wanted 950 for it. Thought that was alot for a broken tractor
there was some combine motors fit them
1956, we had an F20 with mounted 2 row corn picker. Used that fall only as my Dad, brother and I had to go after corn picked and pick up by hand the other half of the ears left in 80 acres. Back breaking even at just 10 years old!
@jimkarales1619 my grandpa had an f20 a while back and chopped corn with it. The tractor is just down the road at another farm still.
Nice old tractors
Are you interested in a rebuilt 1020 motor and 2 1020 parts tractors?
only pull spark retard down about 1/3 then after start /warm up advance to best sound never close thumb around crank always pull up on crank one handed i have been around them all my live still have 5 /1 reg good looking red iron
What are the fenders that are on the H off of ?
@@stevemccoy8138 A farmall 560
The fenders on the Farmall h are off of a Minneapolis Moline model U
F 20 serial number should be on top of frame near bell housing on left side. Can be hard to find
@@bubba1017 Found it after the video ended. It is a 1937.
What did you say? 4:52 7:16 8:50 12:51 😂
At the first mark I wad talking about how I am going to pull it in the shop and check the rear end oil and most likely change it. Sorry for not being clear, need to get a microphone one day.
@ThreeGenerationsRestoration Don't worry about it, I was just messing with ya. I love what you do.
Good job men!
@@lyleminyard2308 Thanks!
that F-20 really looks nice. i have one and it is my favorite tractor. it is a perfect match to a new holland 77 baler, the farmall a and b... that thick wheel, thin wheel. that lift that is powered by exhaust... well it looked good on paper. there are alot of these tractors still running so they must be good. speaking of good, i watch your channel first. it is a favorite of mine. best holiday wishes and let's make 2025 the best year yet.
I appreciate you watching, hope you have a Merry Christmas!
Unstyled is right.
Mine is a 300lp
Very exciting
Didn't they start building the C in 48 ?
@brycewiborg8095 yes, makes this one a 1948
That is pretty awesome I have a 1948 Farmall C that I am currently working on it ran when I got it but it had an awful knock in the motor found the number three bearing was about out of it and in further investigation I found that the crankshaft is broke at the number 4 Rod Journal I got lucky it did run but amazingly it didn't come apart
Iv'e done quite a few since 1962 , my advice is , get on the flywheel backwards and forwards a hair at a time
Early D would have been a 201, your D is a square tube, so it must be a 226. Which was the toughest little engine ever made, powerful compact great on fuel! Allis Chalmers 👍👍
Keep up the great work! Guys like you are needed.
Where you located?
@@MrNobody2828 woodstock IL
I'm surprised the cylinders didn't look a lot worse than they did. My uncle unstuck the engine in an Allis D17 with white vinegar once. We couldn't believe how well that tractor ran after being stuck. Good luck!
Asking ?
Beautifully done!!! Hope my son's, @Countryadventures65 , turns out that nice! Thanks for making these videos!!!!
Such a beauty, although I do like the looks of the next series with the white painted front and coves
It went from almost restored to polished. What happened?
@@crippledcrow2384 got another video coming out soon about this. Just figured I'd make a short out of it.
Is that a keeper
@@JeffMartin-qj4yq Maybe, my grandpa sure likes it.
Yep its junk.
@mikezahnow1605 this is going to be a gem one day.
@ThreeGenerationsRestoration l was just being a smart ass. I'm sure it will be a gem. I have been into those old Allis 4 cylinder engines before. I wish you well in your restoration.
@mikezahnow1605 thank you!
It's an Allis Chalmers, so not junk
Lookin forward to this one !
location? interested if price right
Where did you get new radiator from?
@kevinhaarklau6030 Came from a company called alloy works. Got it from a person who had bought it and didn't need it.
The "A" looks like it has had good care during its life,, the "C" It's harder to tell because the shot is from too far away in the short that can't be enlarged..
The C is battered and beaten, almost not even interested.
@ThreeGenerationsRestoration ,, Just about 2 years ago, I picked up a '51 Super C, that has a McCormick loader on it, I think a number C32? it appears as if it's been on the tractor since new, The tin on the tractor is flawless, it even still has the radiator shutters & rear belt pully on but it appears as if the entire rig has never spent a day undercover 😔 You may be better off looking for a Super, if you want a C, the disk brakes are so much better,
Saw a TD-6 for sale on Craigslist today and thought of you. Could be a some good videos. Salem, WI
So, do you guys sell the tractors after restoring them, or do you keep them
Some we keep, some we sell. I would say a majority we sell.
Would you be interested in a farmall b I have for sale
@duanebolen543 yes, where are you located at?
Go for the “A”- looks like a good project for you!!
Excellent job.
Looks great
In the late’60’s I kinda learned how to drive on a farmall H and a M…. Brings back memories like the sounds etc…. Too cool!!
where did you buy that radiator?
@@andyrobinson339 Facebook marketplace, a lady had it on a pallet of parts. It's from Alloy works
It’s coming along !
@@TKM1951 Just got painted yesterday!
I hope you don't leave all them tractors sit outside
@JeffMartin-qj4yq some do stay outside but get covered. Most are under some cover
What happened to the old radiator
@@JeffMartin-qj4yq was wrecked when the tractor was accidentally ripped apart.
Do you find a lot of water in the rear end of those old Farmalls? Those platform bolts tend to leak water in. We know people that had frozen rear ends in the winter and had use Knipco heater before they could move.
@@GARYPETERSON-t9u yes, they always tend to have water in them. I like to drain, rinse, and refill any with milky oil.
😊😊 U have 2 use the choke a bit because the tractor 🚜 😮 is cold and U push the choke back in a bit so it will run it has 2 warm up be 4 it will run on its own 😊😊 OMG 11 28 2O24
Super cool, how can I get my tractor restored by you
My father and uncle worked on a lot of Massey Harris tractor's in Northern Ontario when I was a kid. There were only a few 44's as I recall and most were used for running sawmills. There were a lot more 22's 30's and Pony tractors. They could work in the. bush a little better. Thanks for sharing the experience of restoring the old Massey it brings back memories. It's possible the 44 you have was built in Toronto Canada.
That’s a sweet model “A”… The unstyled Deeres are so cool!!;
