One of the many fights that just makes me think modern fighters and the mythos of the “ super heavyweight” are extremely overrated. At 6 7, 82 inch reach and 238 with wicked power Cooney was booger than practically every HW that’s around right now, and he wasn’t obese like Fury, Chisora, Zhang. He was able to box for 15 rounds decently and he could hit-- attested by Larry Holmes one of the best ever. But he still wasn’t the best. Nobody said he was “ too big to be beaten” the way they did Fury, who’s only really 6 6-7 inches tall. I’m glad Usyk derailed that myth. Michael Spinks actually was a very good heavy, many don’t know because of the Tyson win. But he beat several good heavies in great fashion. 30 pounds weight difference, and Spinks KOs this guy. One can never root out an Olympic gold medalist. Just ask about Muhammad Ali, Floyd Patterson, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Oleksandr Usyk, Andre Ward. I wish fans watched the Olympics.

Lots to agree with there. Michael Spinks at Light Heavy was awesome. What gave him success at Heavy weight was his awkwardness.. He punched from angles most fighters couldn't cope with. He also threw them in flurries that was hard to defend against. He also sparred with Leon, and as the story goes would actually get the better of him most of the time. Because of this he knew how to deal with heavyweight fighters before he took the decision to move up to that weight. Both Micheal and Leon had great amateur careers. I feature rare footage of them both as amateur on this very channel. Thank you for your comments.. Much appreciated.

The way Foreman just annihilated the greatest fighters of his age, and then Ali's rope a dope strategy of just taking those shots for 7 long rounds to get the win...it makes you wonder a bit just how much long term damage was done there. Between that beating and the Thrilla in Manilla, his sad decline in his later years may almost have been guaranteed.

Fraiser was very predictable. He ducks the same way every time he felt he was getting ready to be hit. Foreman figured that out and caught him with an uppercut because he knew Frazier would duck.
