🌈🌈🌈 I am used to practicing my foreign languages every day, I don't give myself a day off. This hobby of mines is so intertwined in my subconscious.🌈🌈🌈Sometimes I do get lazy about it and I just listen to my old materials I prerecorded and don't add new material because of time restraints and stressful situations.🌈🌈🌈

You’re right. I’m learning English and I saw many different teachers. Some of them always focus on the mistakes not the progress. It makes me uneasy. Hopefully, other teachers are focus on the communication first, and spread their good vibes. Thank you for your advice

gaaaaaaaaaaah I got so bored listening his SLOOOOOOW speech and constant repetitions. Evn after using x 2 speed. I didn't finish watching. As a polyglot I can say that he's just telling basic ideas BUT FOR REALLY LONG TIME. Like Russians say "TOO MUCH WATER in your text"

There are a lot of things in common between learning languages and going to the gym. There's always the technique, the self-motivation, the consistency even if it's on and off sometimes, the lifestyle, the pleasure, the results that come after a long time, and maybe so many other things..
@@shespeaksglobal very true 🤗🙏
Really useful advice. The majority of beginners labour under the misconception that they can achieve fluency in their target language in a relatively short time. It just doesn't work like that. Even the tefl guidelines theoretically allow 7 academic years to fluency. As you explain so well, it's daily, consistent and enjoyable contact that will produce the desired result.
@@johnbritten4987 right you are, John! And why would you want to rush such a fun process, anyway?! Thank you for watching and commenting ☺️. Many blessings to you
Interesting your point of view. It remembers my english journey, These days I've been practicing english writing in an intuitive way it makes me feel so relax and easy. Out of the blue, words come to my mind without make effort. I feel so grateful about it. By the way, thanks for your video!

This must be how Eckhart Tolle learned Spanish
@@rick8873 hahaha 🤣 what a legend
Disagree. I watch a channel called Easy Japanese listening, where the host talks softer and slower to help you understand. The key is actually repetition and hearing the same words, then your brain will be thinking ‘I’ve heard that one before’. You may RECOGNIZE a word, but you have to have a DICTIONARY to know it. Example: without looking up a dictionary, what does かわいい (kawaii) mean? You probably KNOW it means ‘cute’ because you’ve heard it a billion times and you’ve looked it up or ASKED what it means. But what about ボンキュッボン?… That is a word that you don’t learn from a dictionary or ANY books. It is ‘bonqiu-bon’ and means ‘thicc’.
yeah no, still hate english for what englishmen and US have done to everyone on the planet. At least you are so proud of it, the rest of the world is not i assure you
I like the word _insouciance_ - never been in a spa

Great points! I think the biggest misconception of language learners who fail is the idea that they can somehow "force" the process; sure, discipline is essential but anything that causes self inflicted stress is terminal to the process. I like the positive energy notion you propose. Languages are like vast universes that should fill the beholder with wonder and excitement. Ask any honest polyglot and they'll happily admit to having made thousands of mistakes but it's never an issue for them. The sheer pleasure of exploring the unknown and patiently enjoying the process will achieve the best results.
@@johnbritten4987 100% ☀️🙏
Thank you so much for this video! You are completly right ( in Spanish is with tener: tienes razón😂😂😂). A lot of barries to learning in general are psicological: little traumas in school and blockages in the body! And also they have to be comfortable of being incomfortable! I am very interested to know why memory works! Thanks for the other video! For me learning a language is a life-long journey! It doesn't stop at some point!

The points you raise are so important! My personal preference for beginner to intermediate level language tuition is always a female teacher. At this level the female "charism" to impart linguistic knowledge has a definite edge. It somehow seems a more natural and less intimidating experience.
@@johnbritten4987 feeling comfortable and safe is very important when starting out. Thanks for sharing your perspective, John!
To my students I explained that the English was in fact je suis affamé in French and je suis assoiffé, for I am thirsty, is there the same in Spanish? ^^ I remember with an american friend, we were talking about the differenc of use between to lay and to lie, she could not really make the difference either 🤣🤣🤣 (except we both had the alternative meaning of one which made us laugh ;-)

🌈🌈🌈🌈This is the first time I heard of that tip, speaking in your target language first then think.🌈🌈🌈🌈 Maybe the so called polyglots knew this but are not sharing it like this guy is doing. I spoke to someone in Brazilian Portuguese, it came out so smoothly without me thinking first.🌈🌈🌈 But still this advice is more useful to the intermediate language learners and up in my opinion. It is just too much unfamiliarity of words, phrases, etc for beginners in any foreign language.🌈🌈🌈
What do you think are the reasons behind wanting to speak accentfree? Where did that even come from?
@@WilliamDunBroch I'd guess in general it's people not wanting to stick out (aka, be seen) for the fear of being judged
My experience living in a Spanish working town for 3 years where nobody speaks English has been fantastic. I'm proficient now, but in the beginning I only had basic Spanish and everyone was very enthusiastic that I was trying my hardest. Learning 'la lengua de la calle' has been great too because you pick up the flow and cadence of every day 'street Spanish' and this greatly helps with the accent and pronunciation.
@@musashidanmcgrath awesome 😎
It's important to put this into context. Doing this alone isn't some magical, lazy way to learn a language. Listening comprehension like this is extremely effective and you should listen as often as you can, BUT, it must be accompanied by speaking practice, reading, and active learning of grammar, if you truly want to learn properly. And it's a process that should match whatever level you are at. Plus, in Spanish in Spain, for example, there are many, many phrases and verb uses and periphrases that you will not be able to translate directly. And will need to learn from native speakers.
@@musashidanmcgrath context is key 😊 thanks for adding your perspective
Liked the advice and had been doing this approach while I procrastinate over getting a Zoom conversation partner. It fits my routine of walking and listening to podcasts. I am frustrated that sometimes the subtitles are wrong, but I guess it's a sign of progress to start to recognize that. Speed and accents even give me trouble with English so I think I have to be realistic with language. My go to is "huh"? 😂
I have never been to Spain, but I like cats. Was this video useful? Yessss!!😅
@@voda2023 hahaha 🤣🤣 random examples I know . Thank you for watching!
It’s hard because I’m always afraid to make grammatical mistakes that’s the problem. All teachers saying that you have to talk without thinking but it’s really hard 😅
@@Hope2b you gotta get over that fear ! No one speaks any language perfectly :-)

From hellotalk
"Que tal" I get, but "que tal estas" is that a correct usable phrase?
@@barakevenmelach8795 yeah 👍 qué tal is a super useful phrase in Spanish
The difference is that que tal is just like saying hiello, without expecting a reply. Cómo estás is asking how someone is and extecting a reply. Que tal estás is similar to cómo estás. But qué tal can also be used to ask what state something is in.
good
