    It looks like something evil that might swallow you up if you stay on it for too long. So personally if I was playing this and didn't know what it was, I'd probably stay away.

      Hopefully I will be able to estimate in the game testing how many people are actually using the feature. Thanks for the comment.

      @@GameDesignBrain - Interesting thought occurred to me, though. You could use that as an extra risk vs reward thing. You could have it change into that evil face, and somehow indicate it was about ready to open, so that you could still drop your weapon down there, but also you could get swallowed up by it if you're not fast enough. Additional risk there. Might make gameplay even more interesting.

    It is unique feeling when such idea makes it from accident to very important part of the game! Very inspiring! I would suggest making sound less noise like and more arcade like. Also increasing sound of actually throwing weapon in it may create tiny tension and relief cycle when you can finally dash out from middle. Do you plan adding unique features attached to certain levels? I can imagine ton of small mechanics that could make each stage have diffirent pace.

    • @GameDesignBrain
      @GameDesignBrain 8 месяцев назад

      Level mechanics is literally the next on the list 😇please feel free to suggest some! However, I would be cautious about keeping the game's core intact. And I am thinking about things to increase the positional aspect of the game. Thank you for taking the time to visit again. Your input is always valued. ❤

      @@GameDesignBrain Some random suggestions: - jump to the middle or other place from some points on level (sort of trampoline may add depth to zoning). - buttons that call events when pressed (with cooldown or other limitations) like spawn a bomb / break boxes / make some part of map push player in direction. - add robot that slowly moves and attacks with flamethrower - it is already a lot of projectiles and zoning but still it could make players constantly move to new spots. - simple modificators like x2 damage to obstacles or twice ammo, etc. - bizarre modificators like swap movement control or make everyone samurais for a set of time when lets say box of pandora broken. - classic floor becomes lava over time. - classic ice floor. - already hate this one lmao - hot potato - who picks it takes damage over time but when someone takes damage from this player debuff is transfered. There is actually no limit to imagination but your core mechanic is good so whatever you will make should work :)

    مقطع جميل ومفيد 👏 للأسف اللي مش متعلمين إنجليزي مش حيقدروا يحصلوا على هذي المعلومات، ومعضلة لما شخص يتعلم من الأجانب بعدين يقعد يعلم الأجانب بيزيد من مشكلة "الألعاب العربية السيئة" عشان مافي حد قاعد يعلم العرب، أتمنى أخذ إستخدام اللغة العربية بشكل رئيسي أو على الأقل وضع ترجمة عربية

      لا يوجد وقت للأسف. أنا حقيقة أرى المحتوى أقل من المستوى المطلوب، ولكن أنشر لأتعلم وأتطور وفي المستقبل قد يكون هناك تحسن كبير في جودة المحتوى. صعب دوام وبعدين شغل في البيت وشغلة فوقها قناة يوتيوب. الأولوية للغة الإنجليزية طبعاً وليست للعربية لعدد كبير من الأسباب حقيقة نحتاج جلسة وفنجان قهوة لتوضيحها. إذا شخص مهتم بالإثراء فأنا ممكن أتعاون معه لوضع ترجمة بالعربي. مع خالص تحياتي.

  • @IamExplouder
    @IamExplouder 10 месяцев назад

    Approach for adding depth is surely correct. I've heard those advices like designing around core in a lot of game dev vids and they do work. Im not sure will this game give you that feel of 'personality' in game. Like being maniacal pyromancer that hurts comrades but refuses to use other elements in magika. Or being that player with meteror hammer on every character in dota. Or collecting all needed effects in PoE to make your crazy strategy of self spawning skeletons work. I can imagine trying to find DAT weapon and others understand oh now he got it againg feel. Im interested what mechanics will be added, because there is several directions in which game can get depth at the moment. Like weapons could be modified trough session or map rules could be changed via weather, etc. Btw I'd tried that plasma gun for sure lol.

    • @GameDesignBrain
      @GameDesignBrain 10 месяцев назад

      Haha, how did you try the Plasma gun? I don't think our game aims to give a 'personality' feeling. Think of Stick Fight the game, Rounds, and most fighting party games (I can write an extensive list here). That said, I aim to have enough depth for your personal Fighting style to show and stand out. I will undoubtedly have things done to weapons that make the game "unfold" in more exciting ways. as long as the game stays simple. Thanks for passing by again!

    The games that come to my mind are: 1. Fall guys - i'd definetly returned to playing sometimes if it would not crash for no reason lol. Trying to be first among others very fun especially when playing party. Feeling of my party succeed among others due to effort of all members kept me in. 2. Bashers - dead game, but for time it was alive it was fun shooting others and enchanting favourite weapon (donate system and game design were very bad btw lol). My weapon I was upgrading daily and other doing same kept me in. 3. Deep Rock Galactic - very fun co-op game im returning time to time with my friends. It has unlocking weapons and outfit features but they actually not reason for me to come back its just the gameplay and my friends yelling FOR ROCK AND STONE and throwing barrels at each other. Its not obvious but taking quests and drinking beer playing its role in keeping me in along main gameplay. Every game is roalcoaster where there is always reason to interact with someone. 4. Different kind of royal battlers where trying to be last standing and trying different builds and weapons is fun by itself - never returned to them lol. I'd say that your primary goal is chosen correctly. If the game will keep players coming back there will be someone you will be able to play with in the first place. But the problem that to achieve this goal good gameplay may not be enough. Thats why games nowadays making players addicted by adding dayly quests, unlockable content, stats, battlepasses - at that point backend thing comes in and makes project several times harder and expensive lol. So im interested what approach you will take to succeed commercially with party game. Additionally if friends will face each other skill gap becomes very relevant. After a couple of flawless victories no one played with me again in mortal kombat lol.

    • @GameDesignBrain
      @GameDesignBrain 10 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the insightful comment. I can list many games that have good "retention." Even within the party genre (like Overcooked and Plate Up), these are co-op. for me personally, I rarely find depth in the competitive ones specifically. As for the skill gap; I am aiming to have a high skill ceiling that a player can aim for, but enough chaotic party elements that will cause participants with big skill differences to have fun. It is really hard to balance: Too much chaos, and it will be frustrating, and your skill doesn't matter, too much "fairness" and it will be hard to play with your friends, But I mentioned Rounds in the video, they did it correctly, and I feel like we are getting there with more and more iterations.

    I am starting my own GameDev journey with UE5 and this helps putting some things into the roadmap, and gives a more realistic take on how to approach it, thank you for that! I would also like to ask if you have any tips for someone that is a complete beginner. Such as for example should i go straight for learning C++ or is Blueprints a good start? I got the imagination, artistic ability (yet to learn blender though), concepts and ambition. I'm just a bit stuck at the starting line, i want to build the right fundamentals so i don't have to backtrack later on. Good video, im rooting for you guys!

    • @GameDesignBrain
      @GameDesignBrain 10 месяцев назад

      Good luck, bro. I worked with UE4 before and enjoyed the blueprinting, but as most programmers will tell you; coding is much better. But answering your question is a difficult one. I don't know if you know some coding or not. However; I think C# is much easier to learn, so you might also want to consider Unity (or Godot). However, it depends on your goals; you can create great games with blue printing and commercially successful ones, as some games have done before. The most important advice that I can give you is: 1- Try everything yourself, take a course or so in every skill (coding-design-game engines, etc.), and see what you like and don't like; I don't think all people are fit to be a one-man army. 2- Focus on that power; so if you like art, You can do two things: make an artsy game that doesn't need a lot of systems and coding, or TEAM UP with a good programmer. 3- Don't forget that game design is fundamental knowledge (that is often overlooked or simplified). There are great books out there that will improve your game design skills. Trust me; making games is not just that you have an idea in mind and implement it. Making systems fun takes a great deal of knowledge, and they can easily be broken by small things. And generally, reach out to the community and ask; you'll gain so much by just asking, and the gamedev community is one of the nicest. Good Luck!
