Tony Thrasher "my channel" is a compilation of the various projects that I'm engaged with on a daily basis. I am owner, along with my lovely wife, of both Thrasher's Heating & Air, Inc. and A.Thrasher's Farm located here in Greenville, SC. Therefore, many of my videos will be focused on the work involved in the aforementioned.
My goal here is to help engage people in the projects that we work on and to help them overcome the technical challenges associated. I love to learn new things and I'm always thinking about the next project.
I am SC Licensed as both Residential Builder & HVAC Mechanical.

Hay to the Cows With the Ditch Witch

Today our video is about how we take hay bales out to the cows with the Ditch Witch mini skid steer. I feel like the Ditch Witch mini skid is the perfect small farm equipment (much better than a tractor and more useful than a full size skid steer and yes we have both here on the farm).

Backup Alarm Enable-Disable Switch Installation

Today's video is about installing a rotary switch to enable or disable the back up alarm on most any equipment but specifically on our Bobcat E50 excavator. I do not recommend bypassing the backup alarm if you use your equipment while pedestrians or other workers are present during operation. Undertake this modification at your own risk. Better to do it in reverse so your not running it over
Do you get an error on the screen. I do on my L85
I do not get an error
Nice video 👍 just cover your arms with sleeves you can get skin cancer from exposure 🤗
Nice video. What rod and amps were you using?
The Lincoln 110 is a mig welder so I was using a flux cored mig wire. Not sure about the amps but probably about 4-5 on the amp control knob
Predator 4550 inverter generator from harbor freight is a perfect combo
Hoping someone is monitoring this! Like others, I have no interest in paying for a cellular change that will just need to purchase again, and this looks easy enough. I am having difficulty, however, finding the Zigbee Wifi Kit. Can anyone direct me to any that are for sale, even on ebay?

@@tonythrasher3913 Thank you!
for anyone following, WiFi is indeed integrated into the motherboard on my SE 10000-US single phase inverter. So, no additional zibgee card is required.
@@revpaddle my inverter is the 11.4kW version and the WiFi kit was definitely required. If you get the WiFi connected without any additional zigbee hardware, we would be happy to hear about it. Thanks for commenting 👍
@@tonythrasher3913 yeah, I was surprised that it had onboard WiFi. As mentioned in an above note, the side panel had a pw for WiFi and MAC address, so I suspected it might not require a card. Sure enough below the cell card with antenna screw on, there is an antenna screw on coming out of the motherboard for WiFi. Was very pleased.
Do the specs on the switch need to be 3A /120v or is there some flexibility in the switch specs? Thanks for the awesome explainer!
I’m not real sure how many amps are on these little horns but worse case scenario is that the 3A rotary can’t handle the current flow of extended horn blowing (if that ever even happens 🤷♂️) Only thing I could find is this back up alarm that specifies 0.1-0.5A draw. ecat.eleknet.com/PIM_Docs/Docs/STEP_ASSETS_PDF/15227207.pdf
Which wire was used? Couldn’t really see
One of the wires on the alarm itself, doesn’t really matter which one
Tony there are several videos of people who welded with a 2kw generator and all had fault setting pop. Would be terrific to see someone welding with a small welder using two of those generators connected together. I am pondering buying a second 2kw generator.
I don’t have a second 2000i but I I would definitely try it if I did. You’ll also need the paralleling cable. Thanks for watching!
@@tonythrasher3913 Rent another generator for the day, and do a test with two generators
@@WHEREVER-I-ROAM If it runs it on 1 it will obviously run it on 2 without failing.
Turn off the "econo" mode and the motor will keep a consistent max RPM. You can hear the motor's RPM go up and down as you weld. You want the power to be consistent and not have any ramp up time as soon as you weld. You will likely trigger a fault with the motor going from idle to max over and over again as you weld. You definitely need to let it cool down a little bit between each weld. Another option is to hook up a fan to the electronic circuit and a heatsink to help keep it from overheating.
I like this content mate keep going . Employ a company like P r o m o s m!!!
This is ideal but if you don't have the funds do you think an older machine with a tree shear would get you by ?
I’m not sure but a tree shear would definitely leave stumps everywhere
I can't beleive how bad you made me feel for buying my tractor. LOL. I did enjoy running it that day at your place. The Mighty Mini Skid!
The tractor has it's place and I rarely use it here on our farm. As you know, I use the mini-skid almost daily around our farm as it's so versatile. Thanks for watching!
I had the fuel throttle very low to minimize the noise in the video but this made for very slow travel speed.
Update: I did a more extensive weld later on with the same welder settings and the generator did fault. Therefore the combination works for short duration (few seconds at a time) welds but not for longer duration (like 30 seconds continuous).
*Thats great information to know* Dexterous X
Does this work on T595 skid steer?
I would imagine that it would work on any equipment with a 12v alarm on it.
I disconnected alarm on my e60 and without the two speed will not work.
Did you follow the way I did it?
can we install travel alarm in excavator please explain the procedure
Just watch the video, find the alarm, and wire a switch in like I show you
ever mulched bamboo patches? First step in eradication
I haven’t yet
Although I wouldn’t expect it to be any problem
Bobcat excavators are very tippy
I'm not sure that's a fair statement. I think most mini excavators would be tippy with 1000 lbs on the end of a stretched out arm.
@@tonythrasher3913 it's fair when you have been in the business for 28 years. And owned Bobcats and other brands. Bobcat has one hydraulic pump making controls very jerky. Most mini excavators have 3 hydraulic making controls smooth and well balanced. If your throwing weight to fast makes machine tippy. Enjoy
@@rontopping2048 not sure how long it’s been since you’ve driven a Bobcat excavator but my 2019 isn’t jerky at all, actually it’s very smooth, depending on the operator. Obviously any of them can be jerky if you jerk the controls. With 1000lbs out about 20 feet, if you lower the boom quickly, yes it will be jerky.
What kind of flow are you getting to the auxiliary? Do you feel that it’s sufficient to run the head well? As far as weight, do you have issues booming out or sweeping?
Bobcat added a case drain when I purchased the Fecon and they had to set the E50/Fecon flow up when they installed it. It does pretty good but it’s not going to be like some of the huge roadside mulch Wes you see. I can mulch up to about 4” fairly quickly and easily. Much bigger than that and it begins to big down more. It will do it but it takes a lot more time.
Tony, thanks for making the video. In a few weeks, the 3G prepaid wireless network that supports my SolarEdge monitoring is shutting down. I don't want to pay for an expensive new card and wireless service. I'm looking at installing a Zigbee. Your video is helpful. Thanks again!
Glad it helped
I have a Bobcat E85 long arm , I put the felon fmx 50 on my machine. . I clear land with my unit. It can mulch 6 inch nicely, 8 to 10 inch intermittently. And I found that I do not need boats safety screen . I never ever use the safety screen .. there has been no need for it . You can control your mulch with that head on there ..
Thanks for watching!
Looks like a pretty good setup to me!
I think so too!
Up to what diameter will the mulcher handle?
Depends on how hard you want to work the machine and how much time you want to spend. 3-4” or less is what I focus on.
Can you provide a link to the rotary switch you used? Thanks

Great Video and very timely for me. I ordered the same set up a week ago and just saw this video. Anxious to put it to work when it arrives!
Did it work?
Thanks for the really great video. Hope my E26 Travel alarm is hooked like your E50. Let’s find out this afternoon!
Did it work?
@@tonythrasher3913 Absolutely. Very easy to do. Happy owner!
@@mccdan666any chance of a helping hand in where you found your switch on your e26? We’re going nuts with this beeping! Thank you in advance!
I don't know what data the government might have, but I sure would like to hear from operators and proximate workers, from their experience, what their opinions or observations are as to whether these back-up warning horns actually do any good when there are people around. When they became federally mandated, I heard from mechanics in heavy equipment shops that they introduced a new danger in that they drowned out the audibles shouted from the people behind the machines so that the operator could not hear them, and it thus placed it all upon the person behind the vehicle to avoid being run over. In other words, it used to be the responsibility of the operator to know what was behind him before backing. I find these horns irritable. Lots of work goes on in the area in which I live, so there is an incessant beeping going on that I hear inside my home, whether the machine is a block or two away, or a 1/2 mile. I sure wish the people would unite and have this law removed.
They are dangerous xant hear shit over them
I agree
nice set up. Ill be putting a fecon on my e50 in april.
How did it go?
Thanks
Welcome
guess thay put that alarm down in there so it wasnt easy to get to, im doing this to my e35, thanks.
Did it work for you?
Thanks! Should come preinstalled. Machines are loud for a reason: because we make them that way newlemurians.wordpress.com/2017/11/28/peace-has-a-sound
I wanted to message you thank you for this video. I installed a toggle switch on my e35 yesterday and it works great. A nice relief to shut off the travel alarm while I'm working alone on my farm. Today I will be working around other folks and will be able to turn it back on.
Glad it helped

Very cool. I'm just catching up with your channel I haven't watched in a while. Nice excavator!
Engineer775 thank you buddy. I have so much content and so little time to edit and upload it.
@@tonythrasher3913 That is the way it goes. I have stuff from over a yr ago I haven't posted. I turned on notifications for your channel so I won't get so far behind!
do you use a log grapple? and how many pound can it lift? also great video!!
I have a grapple bucket but not a log grapple. The SK500 can lift about 600 lbs pretty easily. We upgraded to an SK800 shortly after this video was released and it can handle up near 1000 lbs. Thanks for watching!
Tony Thrasher is obviously a competent tech who has invested in a proper meter, and who therefore brings the right tool to the job. He provides a well-reasoned explanation and plausible diagnosis, and is probably an honest HVAC tech.

Hi Tony, What symptoms does the compressor exhibit when the start and / or run capacitors are bad? Does it tend to trip a breaker, not start, slow start, run loudly, something else? Thank you very much!
Everything you mention can be a symptom. Most common is that the compressor won’t start and pulls high amperage until the internal overload opens.
@@tonythrasher3913 Thanks for the info, it's helpful!
Face tracking oh my
I don't think I have ever hit the screen with anything but I'd rather it bounce off the screen than to bust out a window. I agree that you can control the mulch pretty good, it's just that crazy instance where you hit a rock or something and it throws it back at you. Hopefully it never happens. Is the FMX50 a little heavy for the E85 when you get it out far? I thought about trading up but then I have to go buy another equipment trailer too. Maybe one day.
What up heating and air man remember me from the lake
Yes sir. How you doin?
Good
Great Job! I hope to see that setup soon! More videos please!
I'm working on more videos, if I could only get better at the editing part, smh.
Content overrides editing every time. People want to learn. Editing will improve with time.
No need to. This was an area of my yard that had not been worked before although I had went through these two pass without plastic just to see how it worked before applying the plastic. The beds were perfect and the plastic could have been applied the first time through.
Nice job! Do you loosen soil first with scarfiers or disc harrows?
No need to loosen the dirt first. Just go slow and the tiller works the soil nicely.
Thanks Tony!
Glad you liked it!
