hi not sure if you will see thsi comment after so long, but might i know what is your paint to thinner ratio?
about ratio 1 : 10 🙂
@@nottoscale6529 Thanks so much for the response!
Should this be applied on bare plastic then top coated? New here.
Thanks, awesome work!!! Only one question:removing the first wash with the black and brown mix using the Tamiya finner X20 won’t cause any damage to the model clean if you have used Tamiya acrilic paint? Currently working on a Rallye car and in the phase of understanding which is the best way to weaver it in the proper way? Thanks in advance and keep going!!!
whats the color that you use?
Did you apply top coat?
awesome work, imagine they were handing out new missions an the MC get the mission to clean his gundam hahaa
Love your work - question: why do you disassemble the whole thing instead of painting it while it’s together
You mentioned on 8:48 that tamiya thinner can break plastic. What did you do to prevent this? Are you using a different product or approaching the process in a different way?
For this reason I only use acryllic paints by Tamiya, safe on all the plastics. But if you're going the enamel route you do the following FIRST: - Spray acryllic primer if you plan on painting the whole kit. (e.g. Tamiya Fine Surface Primer) - Spray acryllic clear laquer. It looks like he used a Matte spray. (E.g. Tamiya Flat Matte TS-80) None of the weathering paints would actually stick to a modelkit that hasn't been prepped with one of these sprays. They would just slide off the bare plastic. And enamel will crack and destroy all of it. As seen in the video, the lacquer prevents the enamel paint/thinner from reaching the plastic; but breaking is always a possibility. As recommended by the manufacturer, you can paint with enamels but in the following order: Plastic Model > Acryllic Base (Lacquer/Primer) > Acryllic Paints > Enamel Paints > Metal Paints > Final Lacquer Spray.
I want to make all of my HGs look like this!
That is a remarkably simple technique for an almost real effect. Elevates any kit in less than an hour
🎉🎉🎉😮amazing 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Perfect 🔥🔥🔥
Just had my first weathering venture on a MG Hi-V ver ka... what a mess. I don't think oil washes are as effective as enamel, airbrush varnish is not adequate and will rub off, and waterslide decals do NOT like the weathering process.
@0:16 oh god, please don't abuse your God Hands like that. Don't ever use them to cut full fat gates, always cut at the gate 'tips' that are angular, still away from the part enough to not leave stress marks but full fat gate cuts with the SPN-120 God Hands will exacerbate the risk you break these prematurely.
This is amazing work for such little tools. You enhanced the plastic base color with enamel thinned paints, which also bring out the shadows and breaks the monotony. It also save you time because we don't have to paint a base coat. Then you dry brush on top of it to bring out the highlights and weathering. Very resourceful.
Bro, Giving advice 🔥🔥🔥
This is amazing! Is the initial model (before the weathering) completely painted, or do you just touch up, apply decals, and panel line?
Hey there! I don't own this particular gunpla (I'm just strating in the gunpla hobby, and I currently own just 3 gunplas), but, from what I know, every single gunpla kit you buy (or at least, above 90% of them) are already painted, you just hace to assemble them! but, if you love minis painting like me, the real magic happens when you add those "extra colors" by painting your gunpla kit!
For starters, beautiful work. I’m really impressed at the results that you’ve managed to get with this technique. I’ve used the similar technique for finishing off my warhammer models once painted. I’ve recently diverted from warhammer to start collecting Gundam and I wanted to ask you a question. Your using mineral spirits/white spirit to remove the enamel paint from the areas you don’t want… it’s very similar to what I do with my warhammer but I’m curious to whether the enamel paint or white spirit would damage the plastic? The plastic from Bandi products seems to be of a lesser quality and I’m concerned about erosion or a reaction when painting with enamel and use of white spirits… Is there a way that you combat this? I’m assuming you do a clear coat before painting with enamels but is that sufficient prevention of contact between the two compounds?
My only piece of advise. After completion do a another coat of Matt varnish. I noticed in your photos there’s a lot of shine to the plastic on the model. If you use Matt varnish after you’ve finished weathering it will get rid of that :)
I tried using Tamiya Enamel thinner, it broke the plastic...:(
Amazing work!!😊
Hi, really cool guide! can you please tell how much time should pass between applying and removing enamel?
Man you did a fantastic job! The weathering details are out of this world! You are awesome!
Was it painted? Or just literally weathering?
are those water decal slides or decals stickers
I have an HG kit of this model. I'd like to try this technique. Only I'll use acrylics.
Great video. I am wondering, do you bother filling seams?
Love it
amazing, how does this person get away with not cracking the plastic? I'm in awe.
Unless he gave the model a clear coat first.
How long do you wait to thin out the enamel paint? I REALLY wanna try this because battle hardened mobile suits looks so cool. Also, does the weathering work not chip away over time?
Simple yet versatile, this is so great!
are those decals or water slides
Is it safe to use enamel-based paints, thinners and washes? I heard Bandai plastic does not react well to these.
Bought this kit today, my first gunpla. It's a nice little piece on its own but this process took it from a nice toy to a gorgeous statue. I'm very interested in trying my hand at it, a little nervous maybe, but I'm going to give this a go.
looks great 🥰
Hi first of all awesome work What water decals are you using?
Boss, how about the ratio between thinner and enamel paint?
Do you top coat at the end to seal it all in?
what did u mix with the enamel paint to thin it? water?
Sansador thinner or mineral spirits
You deserve more views and likes
Do you spray topcoat on before weather effects? What are some Pro and cons of doing so before or after?
too much?
Do you topcoat then weather?
More content like that bro🔥🔥
Titan?
I hear that enamel paints and its thinner make plastic brittle and easy to break, did you use any protection method before putting a bunch of them on the parts that have a lot of cracks and crevices like 1:10 thanks
I'm surprised how many people seem to enjoy this ridiculously heavy-handed approach to weathering. This doesn't make your model look "weathered", it looks like it's been rolled around in the dirt and stepped on. IMO light, subtle weathering looks best and makes your models look the most real. Less is more with this sort of thing. Also, going for this super dirty look and then coating with a semi-gloss instead of matte? Make it make sense.
Some people enjoy the rusty look, man. It looks like it's aged and been through some heavy battles. I see the softer weathering as a nice lighting/texture effect, but I really like the battleworn weathering rusty effect probably more. Plus, painting can be therapeutic. 🙂👍
@@xcalicojack So when I said " I'm surprised how many people seem to enjoy this", you thought I needed to hear: " Some people enjoy this". Ok.
@Jukeboxer11 actually you were talking about enjoying the heavy-handed approach to it all, and I was trying to explain how people do this because they enjoy the rusty look. Two different things, since you're so smart. But it's clear you're a very grumpy person. So I'll just pat you on the head, tell you it's gonna be ok, and leave you alone. Good bye. 🙂
@@xcalicojack Yea you just decided to leave a patronizing response to a month old comment. Someone here has issues, and it's not who you think it is. I know people enjoy it. That's why I started my comment by saying "people enjoy it". That's obvious, which means you just sought out to be hurtful. Seek help.
@@Jukeboxer11 lmao ok dude.
What top coat should i spray over once i finish? (i like changing poses alot)
Una duda: cuánto tiempo dejas secar el lavado de pintura para luego remover los excesos?.
I had no idea you painted this looks great!
