Hi I'm Sam, Owner of Penny Wood Bespoke - a simple handmade furniture business. Having learnt most of what I know from RUclips I thought I would pass on some knowledge to others just getting started out. I aim to share videos of simple furniture builds from off cuts or cheap timber that can be built in a weekend! Each piece made will be sold on the Penny Wood Etsy page.

Can I Make A Pepperoni Pizza From Scrap Wood?
A video making a ridiculous, but delicious, looking pizza table. It's a simple enough design for amateur woodworkers to give a go.
I made this using off-cuts from other projects. The pizza base is made from pine and the crust is oak. I also used 25mm dowels for the pepperoni.
I would be super grateful if you could like (or dislike) and subscribe ✌🏼 there are plenty of videos to be uploaded! A simple enough design for amateur woodworkers to give a go.
Thank you for watching!

DIY // Quick and easy to make pallet wood coffee table
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.9 месяцев назад
A short video on making a unique and simple to make coffee table using pallet wood. It's a simple enough design for amateur woodworkers to give a go. The table would have been better made had I not run out of time. What I intended to be a 1 hour build (like most of my projects on here) had to be cut down to 20 minutes. Things like planing the wood to an even thickness & cutting the cladding to ...
DIY // Making super simple stylish coffee table from free pallet wood

This is a short vid of me making a super simple but stylish pallet wood coffee table (or bench!). A simple enough design for amateur woodworkers to give a go! Certain steps can be avoided such as plaining the timber flat, it just means you're left with a more rustic top. I would be super grateful if you could like (or dislike) and subscribe ✌🏼 there are plenty of videos to be uploaded! Thank yo...

DIY weekend build! - Using basic tools to make rustic bench - woodworking project

DIY weekend build! (more like a morning build 😂) I would be super grateful if you could like (or dislike) and subscribe ✌🏼 This video shows how I make a rustic bench using just two power tools and a reclaimed scaffold board. The bench ended up at 90cm wide, 45cm tall. The timber was ripped down to 6.5cm to make up the legs and the angle used was 15 degrees. I am new to being on this side of RUc...

Replacing branding iron with Scorch Marker Pro pen?
Просмотров 462Год назад
Trying out the Scorch Marker Pro! After seeing a short video of this pen online I just had to try it out. It's essentially a way to add personalisations onto wood (or card) - just write with the pen and use a heat gun to burn the writing, sounds great right?! Well, I found it to be disappointing. I tested it on some furniture pine and then quickly and lightly sanded with 120 grit sandpaper to c...
DIY weekend build! - Making a small scaffold board coffee table in one day - woodworking project
Просмотров 21 тыс.Год назад
DIY weekend build! I would be super grateful if you could like (or dislike) and subscribe ✌🏼 This video shows how I make a one-off small coffee table using a reclaimed 2.4m scaffold board that has been laying around in my workshop for years. The scaffold board was VERY twisted so the coffee table had to be small in order for it to work! This is a simple build and can be achieved with basic tool...
Using a wood welder to quickly make a table top
Просмотров 3,8 тыс.6 лет назад
Here I am using a wood welder (yes that’s an actual thing!) to speed up the setting time of the glue up. In fact the welder “sets” the glue instantly and therefore clamps can be removed straight away to start on the next project. Although the glue sets instantly - I still leave the top at least an hour before starting sanding etc. This whole glue up process took around 10 minutes. Without the w...
DIY Candy Cart - short video on how to set up my handmade wedding collapsible candy cart.
Просмотров 37 тыс.6 лет назад
This is my own designed & made candy cart made easy for anyone to set up, even my mum can do it! For anyone interested in buying this or something similar I can make bespoke as they are made to order. This particular cart is £500.00.
I really want to make a rustic bench seat, but i just cant help myself from sanding out all the little imperfections 😢
It looks like a microwave generator which heats up the wood. I recognize this device from a termite company (since out of business) that came to my house and treated areas with termites by using a microwave heater like this.
Hey Sam, i was wondering if you have the plans for the cart? The dimensions for the pieces ?
Good video. What's the name of the screws you use to attach the legs to the top?
Sorry for the slow response! If you search ‘threaded inserts’ you’ll find them 👍🏼
This is not the wood welding you’re looking for
Depends what you need it for. It’s great for speeding up the process of panelling wood for furniture
Gluing != Welding
He's just using a heater to dry the glue. He just used tightbond
Correct, it’s a portable wood welder. www.scosarg.com/tn4000-portable-rf-wood-welder?geoip_country=GB&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA7t6sBhAiEiwAsaieYmyd5VO0kJ5qtLichI42YL0UYH_TDVFTGCQJMdl1iNH4OUOJ0ih9AhoCkeQQAvD_BwE
This can't be real. I just heard of wood welding and it looked quite a bit different
This is a ‘portable’ wood welder - generally they’re much bigger as they’re used for more industrial woodworking
@sampennistonPWB i found out the process existed 2 hours ago, looked it up and only saw it used on 2 it little blocks in an industrial setting. Why isn't this more widely used? There's gotta be some drawbacks?
The only real drawback is the price, they cost 1000’s even for the little one we used. It was definitely a nice luxury however since I’m now working for myself I would much rather have more clamps and leave pieces to dry over night than use the welder 🤷🏼♂️
@@nateb4543 i’m 99% sure that the guy who posted the video doesn’t know what wood welding is because I also just learned about this a few hours ago. There’s no vibration happening here. I’m pretty sure it’s just drying the glue. With the real wood welding, there’s no glue used.
@davidx1 I 100% know what I’m talking about. You’re thinking of friction wood welding which this is not. This is a portable wood welder ideal for speeding up the glue process of panelling table tops. www.scosarg.com/tn4000-portable-rf-wood-welder?geoip_country=GB&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA7t6sBhAiEiwAsaieYmyd5VO0kJ5qtLichI42YL0UYH_TDVFTGCQJMdl1iNH4OUOJ0ih9AhoCkeQQAvD_BwE
Muy bueno felicidades
Sometimes the cravings win 😅 very unique, would love to see more builds like this
Hm, seems like the pallet wood in UK is indeed reusable. In the other countries it's joined with the bent nails so that you can't disassemble and reuse it in any way but burning it.
These pallets actually come from Denmark. For my furniture business I buy large amounts of timber panels which come from Denmark - I believe the supplier probably makes the pallets themselves as they’re much larger than standard pallets 👍🏼
that's a great job .It looks better than the gate i just made out of Pallet timber , but i could always give a Coffee Table a go because its Free 😀
😂 to be fair that was one of my first ever projects making a gate with pallet wood!
that pallet wood is better than the wood we get at the store here :(
😂 I’ve accumulated it over the year - it’s from the pallets my timber arrives on and always thought they were too good to throw away!
I have never thought to use a putty knife to avoid scratching the wood. Genius!
Very nice job and the table looks so cool. Sometimes you come too close to the blade, watch out for your fingers bro 😎
Thank you! I know, there’s no excuses for that 🤦🏼♂️
What paint are you using
I’ve used Fiddes Hard Wax Oil in a clear satin 😊
@@sampennistonPWB Thanks for the information
You're a funny guy, Mr. Sam Pen...
I need one
Any measurements??
Nice work. But 1 day? How quickly does your glue dry?
I left it in the clamps to dry for a few hours by which time it’s fine to work with. The glue will fully cure over the course of 24 hours. I do usually leave things to dry overnight but I wanted to do a ‘one day build’ project 👍🏼
I just feel so dumb just for watching this video. This project was pretty much a waste of time.
I will never understand why people leave comments like that. Why not say something nice or just say nothing at all. Spread positivity bro not hate, you might just make someone’s day✌🏼
Got bored but like your channel and want to leave and mess up your algo, so here is a comment. Really like the small coffee table video ✌️
Thank you for watching! Was it this particular video that was boring? I’m new to all of this videoing stuff and I’m wanting to improve
Not exactly fluted but it came out really nice. I always love the look of reclaimed wood.
Ye I wanted to preserve as much of the reclaimed look as possible, rounding over each piece would have lost a lot of the character!
@@sampennistonPWB I think you did a great job. Keep it up!
Come on Sam. No way anyone paid, or would pay 3000 dollars for this. I`d be surprised if you got 300 for it! You pulled that number out of your ear for views didn`t you?
Did you watch the video Glenn? I saw a table on a website for $3000 and showed how it can be made with free pallet wood. I’m selling it for $200 on Etsy.
god bless you, you make it look easy
No you got a whole in your desk
That is a consequence yes. Any old sheet wood would work too!
Nice work
Thank you!
I love it. But my personal opinion, which I know isnt worth much, is that is a VERY different table than the one that is 2 grand. Very different style and look. I like them both tbh. I love your version. But I have to say, the look/style/aesthetic is very different.
Totally agree! I just wanted it to be more rustic looking which is more mine and my customers style 😊
great build. Looks really nice, and didn't brake the bank.
Thank you!
Just subscribed but gotta talk about the elephant in the room! Them scaffolding companies must really dislike you! 😅🤣😂👍✌🖖
😂 they’re actually ones they discard thankfully! Thank you for the subscription 😊
what was that round jig you used to get the circles m8, love the video. defo new subscriber
Thanks man! It’s just a sheet of plywood that slots onto the table saw then I measure half of the circumference I need and add some sort of pin for the top to spin on. I’ve had a few comments about this now so probably warrants me making a video making a new one. I’ll get that up in a few weeks 👍🏼
اللتي صنعتها أنت أجمل

Another great video 👍
Your videos are coming along nicely! Keep up the good work! My only suggestion is to maybe add a cut list and materials list! Thank you!
Thank you! That’s a good idea, hadn’t thought of that 👍🏼
@@sampennistonPWB man if you did, I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one that's greatly appreciated of your talents!! Keep up the good work fam!
@@antoniomunoz3581 hahahaha Its just like baking a cake, A recipe is way easier than starting from scratch. With wood working, of course all it takes is to see something to be able to replicate it, but its the skill and experience that sets everyone apart. The title to the video is DIY, as in DO IT YOURSELF, so its absolutely not unreasonable to ask for a detailed cut list, especially if its exactly what you're looking for. Of course i could stop the video and make my own measurements, (which i did no problem at all...) But my comment was to help the content creator get more views, viewers, and subscribers. Even this comment alone helps the algorithm and that's the whole point here isn't it? to help other people and learn. This guy has some quality content, and some serious skills, so why not try to learn more from him? if you're a woodworker too and are worried about "losing business" or something, and that's the reason you cant fathom making a cut list for someone, then that's the wrong way of thinking of things. If I saw something, I don't think "I'm going to copy it exactly" I would make it better to my skill level , and that sets my work apart from others, just like most occupations on this planet. Get with the times or get passed up... CHEERS!!!
A nice project, but I predict that the legs will eventually fail. Gluing end grain onto side grain is not strong, and wood screws don't hold well in end grain. You could devise a better way to attach the legs.
Totally agree for larger projects however in this application on a small coffee table the legs will be plenty strong enough 👍🏼
Good day! Thanks for the detailed video! Cool!
Good day! Thanks for the detailed video! I dream of equipment like yours. I want to make my own furniture!
This can definitely be made with very cheap or second hand tools! Everyone starts somewhere 😊
what is the tool you use in 8:27? cheers
It’s a festool belt sander with a sanding frame - it’s great for flattening panels. There is a link in my description if you wanted more info on it. I believe Bosch have something similar too 👍🏼
@@sampennistonPWB thank you!
What are the different uses of this machine? It's the first time I see it .
It says to apply on wood and then burn with a heat gun, that’s all it can do. There is a link in my description for the pen 👍🏼
@@sampennistonPWB good idea
Thanks alot for sharing you guys you're going great work may God bless you
