    I’m having this issue with a large print, could be my tension of my belts, I’m not sure what’s the perfect tension ? How would I know if it’s tight to the Max ?

    I have a K2 Max for about 7 months and have a Anycubic Vyper , and have worked thru several issues. I stream all the time if you need some advice . However I also had issues with this i tightened everything . the did a PID calibration then a full Calibration in menu. i also printed a calibration layer to fine adjust and it worked for this issue. I also replaced the plastic X pull gear with a metal one.

    No unless you want to be disappointed. I own 4 of them and regret it. At first I loved it and it was pushing out prints like a champ. And then the layer shift issue appeared and it was the death of the Kobra Max 2 for me. Sad, when it did work it was my favourite printer

  • @digitalbase9396

    I have 4 of these machines all with the same issue. At the beginning it was good and then the layer shift issue appeared eventually affecting all my machines even the newer one out of the 4 that I own. I would not buy it again and it has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Obviously this machine was rushed out to market without enough research and development because of all the hype with the fast printing Bambi labs printers. I still print on the original Kobra max with no major issues. The Kobra max 2 seems like a dud.

    I have 4 of these Kobra max 2 machines all with same issue. I am not sure how to fix it. I own 2 older Anycubic Kobra max original versions which work fine. I don’t think I would buy any large format printers from Anycubic in the future if this can’t be fixed.

    • @ShadowMoses112
      @ShadowMoses112 14 дней назад

      @digitalbase9396 whats crazy is, IMO, as simple as a firmware update. To lower the heat or power of whatever is blowing out. I noticed the slicer with its latest update added a slower quality function and since i sell original models i prefer it. Its still fast. I ended up getting a refund for this printer and buying a new one. I also had the kobra max and the 2 was a huge improvement over the 1. Although th k2m doesnt seem to be able to be a designated work horse the Kobra3 seems VERY promising and interested to see if they do a max of that . I wouldnt count them out just yet. I replaced me k2m with 2 k2ms in case i have another con and need to offload some of the work but I don't see these lasting beyond a year or 2

    Did you ever get this issue fixed. I was able to come up with a permanent solution and fixed mine after 3 days of frustration. I’m just seeing what everyone else was doing. I can say it’s not the belt tension, gears, steppers or wheels for sure…well at least for what’s plagued these issues. Fortunately I was able to use laser lights and some UV ink to identify what my issue was and once I made a procedure for it, I have done 17 prints at all speeds and it never happened again.

    when I had layer shift on mine which was huge the problem was the brackets at the top of the Z axis on both sides. They should be at 90 degrees to the gantry but they were slightly loose and so they turned slightly inward. That seemed to make the Z axis canted just slightly which was enough that the head would eventually hit the print because it wasn't climbing as much vertically as it was on the Z screws since they were canted and that was what was throwing it off. I made sure the brackets were aligned properly and tightened them down and it solved that problem completely for me

    I suffered increasing Y axis shift until the Y axis completely died during a print. Drive IC bit it and motor was painfully hot. Checked vref and it was WAY too high. Got a replacement board and checked the vreg and it too was WAY too high. All vref were set to high. Reset all and layer shift was better but still there and worse at higher speeds. Began investigating acceleration and jerk and found the default of 2000mms was too high. Dropped to 900 and shifting was GONE. Set jerk to 10 and acceleration to 1000 and hard set in the eeprom and now have over 4kg through it without so much as a single layer shift. Can print at 150mms and get perfect prints every time. I HIGHLY advise lowering acceleration to 900 to test, especially on a max, since the larger bed means a much greater mass for the motor to move and stop.

  • @Enjoymentboy
    @Enjoymentboy 2 месяца назад

    I fought Y axis shift on my kobra 2 (marlin version) for months until the Y driver bit it. I found the vref was set stupid high. After the board was replaced Y motor was so hot it hurt to touch it and skipped steps aplenty. Set vref properly and skipped steps were less but still too much Y axis shift to accept. I tested with various speeds and found that every time I went over 40mms the Y axis would shift and anything over 80mms was a guaranteed failed print. This led me into acceleration and jerk. I dropped acceleration to 900mms and jerk to 10 and instantly all layer shifts stopped. I can print at 150mms with no problems and have almost 4kg through the printer since I made this change without a single layer shift. Seeing that the max has to move a significantly larger amount of mass (ie much larger bed) I suspect acceleration is a contributing factor for you. I tested with changing setting in Cura but once I found what solved my problem I hard set them in the eeprom.

    • @ShadowMoses112

      @@ShadowMoses112 The vref on all axis was set so high from factory it wound up burning out the Y driver IC. It was a cumulative issue. The more I printed and the faster speeds I went the hotter it got until it just died in mid print. Anycubic replaced the board for free out of warranty. But the new board also had the vref WAY too high to I set them all properly and now the motors get warm but not hot.

    Having fought layer shift on my kobra 2 I know the pain you're going through. I noticed that in my case it began to get significantly more frequent before the Y axis fully bit the dust and the main board has to be replaced. Found the Y axis vref was set VERY high on the old and new boards and I suspect this is to allow for the higher print speeds but I don't believe that this is the best approach. My board uses GC6609 drivers which my searches have shown to be low current clones of TMC2208 drivers and this, I think, is the root of the problem. To get the higher speeds the bed must move faster which means a stronger motor which means higher Y current is needed. But the drivers just can't keep up with the motor's needs and go toes up. I think genuine TMC2209 drivers, or driver's that can go higher than 2A for sustained periods, plus a stronger Y motor would solve this problem. I can only guess anycubic went the route they did to save costs but I HAVE to believe they are spending more on warranty work and replacement parts than they would in a properly specc'd driver/motor combo. I might be completely wrong however but once this replacement board dies, and I am positive it will, I'll replace with a manta m5p and go full klipper. Mechanically these are great printers but the boards and firmware leave a lot to be desired.

    • @ShadowMoses112
      @ShadowMoses112 3 месяца назад

      I definitely think the issue is mechanical or electrical and not hardware. They recommended based off this video that my eccentric nuts aren't properly tightened on the y. I'll give it a shot and see how that effects it. Ill post another video with updates

    • @Enjoymentboy
      @Enjoymentboy 2 месяца назад

      @@shadowmosesmusic RUclips channel Print Practical has a great video on it (3d printer stepper driver vref) and the description is linked to an online calculator to find your specific vref. I've used it for multiple printers and it works perfectly. Bear in mind this is all possible if your board allows it. Look at the driver IC on the board and if you see a small potentiometer beside it that means you can manually adjust. Apparently the newer boards (klipper versions) don't have this and the vref is hard set in the firmware. Assuming yours has the potentiometers you only need a multimeter, small Phillips screwdriver and an alligator clip test lead. First thing to do is unplug the connectors from the motors. All of them. Failure to do so can damage the board. Next put one end of the alligator clip on the positive test lead and the other end on the screwdriver. Power the printer on. Negative test lead goes to the negative of the 12V/24v power supply to the board. Screwdriver (positive lead) goes to the potentiometer. Make very small adjustments until the multimeter reads the vref value you calculated. For example I calculated 1.29V for my Y axis but it was reading 1.76V so I turned the potentiometer counterclockwise until the meter read 1.29V. I actually hit 1.3V because that's as close as my fat thumbs could get to. It doesn't have to be dead on... just close. I did this for every axis based on what vref the calculator showed. It's WAY easier to do than to write and you can do all axis in less time than it took to read this

    Only one from this line I've gotten so far is the Techno-Viper, which I absolutely love. Pretty sure I'm gonna have to get Quick Kick. And wait for the eventual Alpine.

    I’m having the same issues. Have not been able to print a single thing yet. Reviewed the same processes. The first layer comes out ok. The second layer is a sh@t show. Restored to factory. Have auto leveled. I still can’t get my first print on this machine. I’ll keep trying

      Is it making the same noise? Anycubic recommended a new y axis motor and possibly a mother board. Feel free to reach out. Ive been printing for 7 years and have 3 other printers modded from mother boards to rails.

      The marvel legends with soft good isn't a bad second. Some heat to remove the previous hood on the head sculpts was a good idea - just wish it was a cleaner, easier process.
