  • part 3 of the on going back and forth between anycubic and I. They have sent a new hotend to replace the one that was badly damaged and a y axis motor with rods, bearings and axels.
    everything has been replace, tightened, greased and adjusted.
    in this video we go over their suggestions of redoing the eccentric nuts a 3rd time.
    here is that progress

    I fought Y axis shift on my kobra 2 (marlin version) for months until the Y driver bit it. I found the vref was set stupid high. After the board was replaced Y motor was so hot it hurt to touch it and skipped steps aplenty. Set vref properly and skipped steps were less but still too much Y axis shift to accept. I tested with various speeds and found that every time I went over 40mms the Y axis would shift and anything over 80mms was a guaranteed failed print. This led me into acceleration and jerk. I dropped acceleration to 900mms and jerk to 10 and instantly all layer shifts stopped. I can print at 150mms with no problems and have almost 4kg through the printer since I made this change without a single layer shift. Seeing that the max has to move a significantly larger amount of mass (ie much larger bed) I suspect acceleration is a contributing factor for you. I tested with changing setting in Cura but once I found what solved my problem I hard set them in the eeprom.

      Thank you for sharing. My question is why would everything work and suddenly not resulting in slower speeds. I wonder what failed on yours to cause that.

      @@ShadowMoses112 The vref on all axis was set so high from factory it wound up burning out the Y driver IC. It was a cumulative issue. The more I printed and the faster speeds I went the hotter it got until it just died in mid print. Anycubic replaced the board for free out of warranty. But the new board also had the vref WAY too high to I set them all properly and now the motors get warm but not hot.

      have you secured your printer to a solid surface , you may have issue of the printer just oving itself during the fast prints. also chk your jerk and travel speeds. but big time issue with this printer you need to secure it to a solid surface for fast prints. its not it a case to lock it down

    Figured it out. Pull the cover off the main board. Turn on machine then press the white button a couple times. You will see the screen reload. Then I did a factory reset and no more shifting

      How do you do the factory reset

      You can do it from the touch screen

    If only Bambu Lab has a larger bed. I'll shell out the cash. This printer sucks. I won't buy anycubic anymore. Mine is printing ok. But i don't like the quality. I bought a carbon X1 at work and it's night and day in speed and quality. I won't buy another printer again if it's not the same standard as Bambu. I still use this kobra 2 max for non quality prints only. And larger accessory use only.

    My kobra 2 max has random and inconsistent Y shift. I have done everything from checking every moving part to every reset and recalibration I could think of. I thought the problem went away and was over 20 hours in to an expensive print and with less than 20% left the Y shifted….. I am ready to run this thing over with a truck. I just don’t understand how it was working perfectly for so long and now I can’t trust it. There is nothing mechanically wrong that can be seen or tested so it must be something in the coding or one of the boards/drivers.

    Mine wont even make it through the calibration set up, I receive “The module is abnormal. Please calibrate the position of the nozzle and module” The hotend never touches the senor and errors out every time

    I had the same thing happen (owned the machine 1 month). Was hearing noises from the Y motor as well. I think it was slipping, causing the layer shift in the same direction as you. They are sending me a new motor now. I'll share the results.

      The new motor did not work for me. I believe the issue to be mother board related however they never sent one or offered even when i mentioned it. I opted for a refund.

    I have a K2 Max for about 7 months and have a Anycubic Vyper , and have worked thru several issues. I stream all the time if you need some advice . However I also had issues with this i tightened everything . the did a PID calibration then a full Calibration in menu. i also printed a calibration layer to fine adjust and it worked for this issue. I also replaced the plastic X pull gear with a metal one.

      Where do you stream on so I can watch your work on the kobra max 2

    I have 4 of these machines all with the same issue. At the beginning it was good and then the layer shift issue appeared eventually affecting all my machines even the newer one out of the 4 that I own. I would not buy it again and it has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Obviously this machine was rushed out to market without enough research and development because of all the hype with the fast printing Bambi labs printers. I still print on the original Kobra max with no major issues. The Kobra max 2 seems like a dud.

      at least CS understands and as long as you continue communication will work with you . these printers are crazy but easy to fix. sad that the auto lvling software. the manufacturing i wish would change and get someone to make parts that dont fail lol

      If you're within warranty, i suggest swapping it asap. I believe the mother board to be the issue a burnt out driver, but they never sent one even after I asked.

    I found a solution for my one .. check the cooling fans .. in my case i removed them now and put a bigger and stronger one in both parts - the PSU and the mainboard fan .. now the problem is gone .. there was not much dust , but the cooling seems to be the problem in my case .. i tested afterwards too - after 20 seconds whenever i reduced the speed with my newer fans the magic layer shift started ..

      Whose fans were you using and where did you get them? And did you change the fan on the hot end? Also

      I ended up swapping for a new one. I think a new motherboard would have worked but it was never offered even after I asked. The common issue im hearing is that working it hard for x hours sounds like it blows something out. 😑 i hope the kobra 3 uses quality products moving forward

    I have the same issue with my Kobra 2 Max. It started after about 100 hrs of printing and I wan't able to resolve it yet. Anycubic just sent me a new PCB, but that didn't help. Looking through the comments of your videos and other videos about the same issue, where people replaced motors, hotends, etc, I wonder if there is a solution at all.

  • @genedrgn3

    Oh hey look! It's the issue I have after replacing a blown out power supply! I'm wondering if it's a lose connection perhaps?

    • @ShadowMoses112
      @ShadowMoses112  5 месяцев назад

      Hey there. Thanks for checking it out. The connection would have to be the motherboard if so. Anycubic is now questioning if the motor they sent is blown. Im boxing this up for a return

    • @geemeetheway
      @geemeetheway 5 месяцев назад +1

      @genedrgn3 : ho! Really? I also replace a blown out power supply and I got that problem also. I decide to let Anycubic Slicer and use Cura from now. I made a profile with lower travel speed. That "patch" the problem. But still wondering if it still something that I can do to fix that for good.

    • @ShadowMoses112
      @ShadowMoses112  4 месяца назад

      @geemeetheway i also did a bit slower just for quality what i have is like 20% slower than its original speed.

      The back and forth didn't get resolved. I ended up returning the printer for a refund. I think the issue was a mother board but support had me going in circles with tightening eccentric nuts.

    and maybe the same amount of fail prints and lost hair XD... plz let me know if u get a soluten from the support ... i also started a ticket

    • @ShadowMoses112
      @ShadowMoses112  4 месяца назад

      If you're within your exchange period. Skip the support and swap it out imo. Otherwise try to see if a return is on the table. I didn't find the new motor helping my issue at all.
