Reliced Telecaster build - Part 2: Relicing body, finishing neck and polyurethane top coat
In this series I will be building a reliced telecaster type guitar. I am using a blackbeard's den ash body telecaster kit (Link below). The effect that I am going for is an old 60s 3-tone burst tele that has been played for decades, and then overs-prayed with a peppermint acrylic before being played some more (Eventually removing a bunch of the acrylic as well). Let me know what you think of the build in the comments. Part 3 will address polishing, assembly and demo.

Wiring an Electric Guitar Pickup without a Soldering Iron? | Wilkinson Hot Rails | Vantage V-338FT
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.3 года назад
I recently bought a Vantage V-338FT electric guitar, made in 1986 by Matsumoku in Japan. Both the neck and middle pickups were notably faint, most likely due to a magnet that had lost its strength. When restoring the guitar the top pickup wiring broke broke away, and I was forced to buy a replacement. I decided on the Wilkinson M Series rails pickup since it is relatively cheap and reviews show...

    As a builder I would advise a vry light sand witha high grade first **Very light as these kits the veneer is so thin, then wet it not drown it you will find the stain goes deeper & you can do a more even coat, dont get to excited rubbing down between dye coats as i say these kits the veneer is very thin, oh yeah the music had to turn off & subtitles bigger font, enjoy and happy building 🙂

    Is the brown cable what used to be connected to the old pickup?

    • @michaelseecy5904
      @michaelseecy5904 10 месяцев назад

      Hi, yes the brown cable used to be the old pickup. And the grey is the new pickup. The old pickup had a lot of slack in the cable, and the idea was to preserve the original wiring and to keep the old pickup to see if I could fix it in the future.

    This looks like a pretty expensive kit with quality parts, not likely a Stewmac kit, right? Even has bindings in the f holes, that's class! How much was this kit? Did you scrape the outer binding after staining since you did not mask it?

    • @michaelseecy5904

    Does this work the same way for stratocasters?

    • @michaelseecy5904
      @michaelseecy5904 Год назад

      Yep, it's easier for a Strat actually because all you have to do if you are changing 1 pickup out, is to use little terminal connectors between the same colours on the pickups. Usually red and black on a Strat. If colours aren't the same you just need to look up which is the hot, and which is the ground.

Have you ever sanded through a veneer on this guitar? Dude I swear you have somehow jacked my copyright music, bro. Gonna cost you hun fitty right quick! How does guitar sound at partway through build process? Thank you.

    Why not just paint over the original paint but scuffed up? Wouldn't that be nore durable as the original finish is way thicker usually? Just curious really if there was any real benefit to it. Looks great tho man, love the white.

    • @michaelseecy5904
      @michaelseecy5904 Год назад

      Sorry for the delayed response. I really prefer a thin finish, especially on the neck. My biggest gripe with Epiphone is how thick the finish is, I think it makes the neck feel uncomfortable and it effects the resonance of the guitar.

    At gun's & guitar he show how to swap 1Tone & 1Volume Knob by Two 3 ways switch DPDT on/on/on plus 2 push/pull knob and it give's you a 42 different tonal possibility. 1st switch=Bridge serie/split/parallel, 2nd switch = Neck serie/split/parralel , Vol push/pull knob=vol & in phase/ out of phase, Tone knob= Tone & serie/parallel, plus their is the same 3 ways pickup selector as always! I'm actualy modding my 335 to thoses spec. Very cleaver mod for dirt cheap!

    I was thinking of getting these earbuds. I went on the google play store to look at reviews of the app. And almost all of them were negative. Then I thought how is it possible all the reviewers get earbuds that work flawlessly and the app works flawlessly, yet the people who actually buy the things get faulty ones? Of course. they are counterfeit.

    Hi Micheal how did you go about removing the paint from the back of the neck? Did you apply the paint thinners and then scrape the paint off the back or did you just spend loads of time sanding it? Thanks mate

    • @michaelseecy5904
      @michaelseecy5904 Год назад

      So sorry for the late reply. To remove the paint on the neck I used the paint remover, and sanded after that. Removing the paint on this guitar was the hardest part. If I knew beforehand that there was a veneer under the paint I wouldnt have done all that work. My idea originally was to stain the guitar, but the wood was so crap that solid colour spray was the only thing that would hide blemishes.
