This is the end! Old Barn has got to go!
Просмотров 5242 года назад
After about 80 years, this is the end of the old barn. Its just to dangerous to leave alone with high winds that could easily blow it into the neighbors property. Not much was salvageable, so this was the best option. Thank you for supporting our continued homesteading journey, as we learn new things (and relearn some old things) every day!

DIY Heddle Loom Build Pt 3 | The Final Build
Habenaro?
Hello from Colorado Springs God bless
What size is the one your working on? Would you sell them?
How did you build the heddle? ❤ Your loom!
I have inherited a home made rigid heddle loom and it has some damage. Your series of videos will help me to determine how to repair it. Thank you.
i really like this loom. would you sell them? let me know thanks
I’m a coffee drinker, but I use whole beans. If you try it, you will never drink Folgers again. That is rot gut coffee. However, my husband uses coffee-mate creamer. Yes, I think that stuff is rot gut too but he is old so I won’t be able to convince him to stop using that stuff. 😂
I just bought a 15x6x7... I am concerned about adding more holes n screws into those already weak poles One guy said that his poles rusted in less than a year. Others fell apart overnight. I intend to leave it up with shade cloths in the Summer. So I'm going to coat mine in white flex seal n put them together before they dry. They break where they r thinned to fit together. Since they r hollow, I will fill the bottom ones with sand to make them heavier. Plus we need to use some type of protector/sealant on the cover because it gets holes easily. AND I'm going to add pool noodles to lift the roof for rain n hopefully protect the cover from scratches. I haven't decided what I'm going to do about the zipper yet. But I'm getting Velcro n poly tape. I think that this is a great n least expensive way to learn what we really need from a greenhouse before we make a great investment. 🙏
Can you share a link to pdf of where do u find the dimensions?
Thanks 😊 2024
Im looking for a 15X10X10. Most are 15V6.5X6.5. There are a few 15X7X7 But my size is hard to come by. !
Excellent!!!
New subscribers here. The peppers are beautiful😊
Whooohoooo😂
Thanks for the plans!! 👍🏻
What breed of bunny is that
Put the weft in at a 45 degree angle to provide enough room to weave in and the salvages will be inproved. Next heddle should be denser slots and holes closer together and your cloth will be less airy. Learn to wrap your weft on the shuttle in a figure 8 way over the edge sides. You will get more yarn on the shuttle. And you could make your shuttle less wide. Easier ti handle. Just a few tips from a seasoned weaver.
They are called low away greenhouses but I think you nailed it down!
Finally 😘😋
Nice updates on your Amazon Greenhouse!
Спасибо. Это целый урок с результатом. Понятно даже ребенку. Супер.
Класс! Подписка.
What a waste of money 🇬🇧
Thank you for this, I have 1 to set up definitely going to reinforce for our snow load, flooding rains and strong winds here in southern Colorado.…. Ha ha ha my roosters are responding to your rooster while I’m watching this… I say if someone has issues with the animal noises on someone’s homesteading videos then they are not ready/made for homesteading..😊just saying… Have a blessed day all ya’ll
U have to make the cover tight like a drum for "run off". There's a few videos. We have mostly rain here n these things crumble under little pressure. 🙏
Wonderful! Thank you!
Man, that's so cool! Thanks for sharing it
Did you put hot spot tape on the piping, to preserve the longevity of the plastic touching the metal in hot weather, it melts it otherwise
How has it held up?
Would you mind sharing your recipe for the sweet relish? Thanks 🥒🥣
Great job!
Couple questions about the 2"x10" BASE: 1. How did you attach the lengths of wood together? 2. Is the wood somehow anchored to the ground? If so, how? 3. Why did you add the base? Just wanted more height on the inside or for another reason? 4. Could you make a follow-up video to this one discussing how you made the base and why you chose to do it? Thank you for sharing
Interesting video you gained a new subscriber!
My first canning project was because of Homestead Heart. I followed her instructions for canning chicken, it turned out great. Love me some Lead Farmer too!
What is the material list
Your video skills are fine. 😊. Love the entire build of your rigid heddle loom. Great job. I am going to try my hand at making one like yours. I love the idea of spending less for this project. I am looking for discarded solid wood furniture pieces preferably maple or oak .I'd like to recycle, repurpose discarded pieces into a useful item. Thanks again for your inspiration. 🤗
We added beams from front to back, and raised the beds inside, added framed doors, the zippers are not worth even having they fall apart in weeks, not months, we didi bolt the frame to cement cylinders , we have high winds and snow in the winter and so far so good.
Great idea about the cement, I was thinking about that too. 🙏
I ordered 6 Embden geese 3 male 3 female will get them in March. So now I am getting there run ready and there goose house. looking forward to it might get a few ducks to go with them. I already raise chickens Rabbits and turkeys.
Yup. I'm doin' that!!!
hey I'm trying to make my own loom I have 1 question that I'm confused about. how do the end strings work? because they're not wrapped at the end like a conventional loom you're able to wrap it around as you make your fabric. so how does that work?
Hey there! Great Question. So what I do is make sure that each end string of the warp is not in one of the heddle holes. When weaving right to left, I go over the top of those end strings, going left to right, I go under which locks in the edges.
Beautiful cats. Happy new year
Hopefully, she can find that forever home
Rose makes beautiful kittens! Thank you for all you at Red Silo Homestead!
How is it with the wind
Overall, Not bad. I did use tie downs (4 on each side, tie down with rope), on the inside I built a waste high work bench going the entire length of the green house which helped stabilize it even more. And its screwed into a 2"x6" frame. It survived several 50-70 mph wind storms, ice and snow storms. Going into its second winter now, and the only issue is the plastic is becoming brittle and the door zippers are failing, but considering its cost, not bad at all.
@@RedSiloHomestead thank you I bought a HF greenhouse and that frame did not make it I didn’t even get the plastic windows in
I used 13’ long 1 inch black sprinkler line to the waist high poles over added poles down the middle. I had 100 feet laying around for another future project.
That's harsh living
Man, imma report this video on "how to grow catnip" this is SHIT man.
Loved your goose hut! Can you tell me what kind of geese were in video? Thanks so much!
Toulouse Geese, originated in France, and amazing Guards for the chickens. They've even chased a skunk off the property :)
Instead of using your rigid heddle as a beater bar, take your stick shuttle and thin the long edge some to give you a rounded thinner leading edge and use that. It'll also save you a lot of actions.
I have this same unit, put it up this past spring, and already the plastic in the green weave is failing. I’m in the south, and can’t find anything addressing this problem.
Hi there! Our has been up over a year and this winter will be our second. I highly doubt it will survive another winter to be honest. Like yours, the green weave plastic has become super brittle with the sun to the point if I just look at it cross eyed, it'll crack. We have 2 semi-ferral cats that live outdoors, and they love to either sit on top of it, or sleep in it at night, which is great for them, but of course have left little claw holes everywhere as they climb up. So we're gonna re-purpose it. The plastic will go to the rubbish, and the metal poles will be used for trellising in the new garden area (which I still have to make and share a video on). "Eventually" we'll have to build a true green house made of glass (repurposed windows?) as anything with a plastic cover will break down too fast. They do make a "green house" plastic tape which Ive used to fix any major issues like rips, but that's just a temporary solution. Other than finding and replacing the entire plastic cover every 2 years, there's not much else that can be done unfortunately.
Nice job great upgrades, best wishes!
