This is my collection of Yamaha's from the 1980,s YZs. These are my favourite VMX bikes. Especially the red on white. Each model type will all go through a restoration. Trying to find parts can be hard. The collection currently has 2.5x 1982 YZ50, 1980 YZ80, 1981 YZ80, 1982 YZ80, 2x 1983 YZ80, 1984 YZ 80, 1980 YZ 100, 1983 YZ125 & 1982 YZ490. Frilled Neck Lizards: Ultimate Enclosure Tour!
Просмотров 147Месяц назад
3yr old Frilled Neck Lizards getting moved into a bigger enclosure. The enclosure originally used to be a jewellery cabinet. The glass sides were filled in with wood and sealed with pond sealer. Placed a length of timber along the front to hold the dirt in from the tracks. Will put a few live plants in when I get a chance and a waterfall if it fits. Has nice glass sliding doors. Now that I've g...

Yamaha 1980 YZ100G that needs a fair bit of work to get going. it came with the YZ490 i previously got. the YZ100 came with 3 boxes of parts which were a YZ125C & YZ125D engines and gearboxes in pieces. it looks like i got a few stators and cdi's and need to work out which one if or the 100. 1982 Yamaha YZ490 ready for a clean up and engine freshen up. It sounds rattly but they all seem to have that sound. It all seems to be there from first glance. It started after putting some fuel down the head. This would make a great VMX race bike once restored. Check out some more 2 stroke action m.ruclips.net/user/bradrenee #YZ490J #2strokereptile
1982 Yamaha YZ50 running after diagnosing the problem. Ride around the backyard
Просмотров 2114 месяца назад
1982 YZ50 Yamaha. I pulled the top end off inc the tank, seat, exhaust and swapped it over to the same model ive had sitting in the shed for year's. The main problem was the crank seal on the clutch side was popped out as you can see in the video. Went for a spin around the back yard. It needs a good clear out or some jetting changes because it wouldn't hit powerband under load. The wheels and ...
1982 Yamaha YZ50J, VMX, Shed find, Will it run still? Watch the end

1982 Yamaha YZ50. It looks like the bike has had a hard life. The rear swing arm is out of shape and tube is squashed and welded. The wheels are loose and needing new bearings, head stem needs tightening, forks are very rusty, the wheels have surface rust. It looks like it was left outside for a few years. The bike did eventually start with lots of kicks. It seems like the engine has a blown cr...
1983 Yamaha YZ125k Wont rev out while riding with the RM465 & 1999 YZ125. VMX

1983 Yamaha YZ125k wouldn't rev out. it felt like it wouldn't get into powerband under load. Thinking it could be sticky power valve or jetting. Let me know in comments if you have any ideas. Carby is clean and fuel flows down line quick enough The bike has some L plastics. I will eventually get the black radiator guards for it. It hasnt been ridden in a while so could have a gummed up carby. I...

First ride had a kangaroo hop between the CR85 and RM465. Proabaly last ride before doing the top end. Its starting to get a bit rattly. Went riding with a 1983 YZ125, 1999 YZ125, CR85 and a JR50 which looked like a baby next to th...
Yamaha PW50 Previous owner said it wouldnt run. Went back to OEM and gave a service. Instant winner.

Yamaha PW50 that I picked up from sitting for 5 yrs had aftermarket carby, choke and throttle cable. Previous owner said it wouldn't run. The throttle cable was different lengths which caused the oil pump to always be half on and carby would only work half of the slide and wouldnt go fully up. The choke cable was also too short in length which meant once warmed up it will be giving it too much ...

Yamaha 1981 YZ80H No 1 strip down. Pulled the YZ80 apart today to get ready for restoring. the only seized pin was the top suspension eyelet pin. in the end I had to grind the pin in half to get it out. Will fix it later. Yamaha 1981 YZ80h No2 barnfind that I thought wouldn't run. After taking head and cylinder off noticed it had a good piston and bore. Gave it a bit of a hone and piston clean up and put it back together. The wiring going to the CDI was all twisted and shorted causing only the start coil to work. Got this running from the parts from No1 that I wont use. This will make a good project for someone....
i had one of them as a kid great fun could never stop it leaking coolant down back of mudguard
@@RICH7788-d5h i had the K as aa kid. Im glad ive got a J now though. I need to do my seals to stop the same thing.
I just love the way the heat from the exhaust shakes the fender Front back fender cool funny
Yeah I love watching the big bores rattle the plastics. It always looks better on video than real life
Needs a rebuild.. noisy and reving too high
Hey man I am working on a 1975 YZ80B that is almost completely original just missing the metal number plate and the front one. Wish I could ask you some questions lol I got it out of a barn last month and was told it's seen the light once in the early 2000s and the top end was done and his grandson rode it for a few weeks and went back up but before that sat since 91. Starts first kick but I am worried because it feels as if it has very very little compression and it's got a two ring piston instead of one. I've not removed the cylinder yet.
@@EricStephens-w2j ask away. I had a 80B in one of my other videos. Top ends aren't that hard to do. That would be a good keeper. I love the old 2 strokes.
My first bike was a 1980 RM 400, back in 1983 It was a great bike! Enjoyed your video.
I can see where my collection is going.... I've got the 82 84 88 90 in the 80cc and the 82 and 87 in the 490 cc.
Sounds like an awesome collection also. Id rather have the 490s any day. Are you going to get the years in between?
@@2strokereptile would if I had the space
Was the welding successful? I have the same problem and not kickstart hole needs welding
@@charlesgreensmith2821 i ended up getting another gearbox plate and moving everything over to it. The welding didnt really work
I had a 91 YZ 250 , white and red, the power valve had be deleted for some reason, it was just wide open all the time, an I could not ride it slow or it would foul the spark plug, was a x race bike , was nice though just hard to keep the front wheel down
Sounds like a cool bike. I love it when you can't keep the wheel down. Sometimes it's hard to keep WOT. Did you keep a spare plug. My RGV250 was like that until I sorted the squish.
@@2strokereptile yea had to keep a spare plug, I being one a RGV gamma when I was a kid about 16 that was fast on roads , it was stolen though, found it left in a lay by , the barrel for the key was done in , then someone nicked if off use , such a shame was a very nice bike
@@kingkong81icloud Thats crap to hear. You'll have to find another one to bring back memories. They are definitely a fun road bike
Damn fine set. I need that 50
Cheers, Bet its changed since you picked up the YZ 250J I'll probably sell one of them one day.

I like a good bike. My 96 makes me match it's balls love cr250s but old rms are special.

the fork legs, did you simply use emery paper and polish ?
@@ToranFilippi yeah I was lucky they were ok. I just used fine emery paper with water and the a liquid polish on a rag to clean them up.
Thank You, I have one sitting in the shed that I want to restore to the same std.
How do you get onto th eparts ? seats, plastics etc
