Hello and welcome back to another video. In this video I chase Steamrail Victoria's Glen Waverley shuttles with locomotives K183 and K190 between Glen Waverley and Darling stations. The first layout was actually built by former Sunbury Model Railway Club members, John Hill, Roy Hill, Kevin Schultz and ? (Can't remember his name) it was inspired by the Settle and Carlisle Line and Dent Station in England, and was exhibited back in the early 1990's - it was donated to the SMRC a few years ago and modified somewhat. Often, the original builders are forgotten......

    If it was me I would match the height on the opposite side. Cut your detailed side back a little further and then have rather steep cutting on both sides, instead of say a rock face. And from the top of the cutting on the new side roll the hill and scenery gradually down towards the front of the layout.

  • @richardaustin2640
    @richardaustin2640 3 месяца назад

    To follow the topography, that should be a cutting with either a hill the same height or falling away , or even rising. It will all depend on the type of scenery you want to model along that side including any existing structures you may have that can be included. Don't discount expanding the scene a little to let it flow. 🙂

      Thanks mate glad you enjoyed the review. As for the length of the locomotive its 25cm from coupler to coupler or 23.3cm from pilot to pilot. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching.

    ive watched a lot of these videos about the open days. and none of the videos showed much of what is the highlight for me. it was that thing to the left of screen at 14:08. it looks like one of the old 2 or 3 axle pre1880's suburban cars that the vr turned into works site vans. they used to be everywhere, in fact there was one at the railyard near where i grew up. ive seen it written that there is one of the old giant s class tenders at the workshops. it should be prominently displayed, in my opinion.

      Yeah the carriage that you are talking about is a work mans sleeper carriage. There are only a few left in preservation.

      @@NicholassTrainChannel, i imagine youve seen the veteran train? i think they got them out for the last open days. are they doing it up or just keeping it under cover? i got a ride in them over 50 years ago. there was some centenary or something so nana (nana used to do the catering for special events at flinders st station for about 40 or 50 years and got a room there named after her) took her 2 favourite grandkids to spencer st station where we got a ride in the cars for just the length of the platform and back again. i spent a lot of time on this internet thingo trying to find out about what wikipedia calls the vr's best kept secret.
