Trader Starting Guide | Invader vs. Defender | Empyrion
Had a hard time starting as a Trader in the Invader/Defender Scenario? I put together a guide of one way to do it and how to leave the starter moon in a short amount of time before you run out of food.
The basic idea is to do the right steps in order to finish of a warpable SV and leave the planet. This basically means exploring stuff, doing missions and loot the Drone Base found on the moon.
I tried to kept it as short as possible, so hopefully it's helpful and have fun :-)

    Replace this with one import cargo train terminal, connected with only a one way road leaving it to the city. After Trucks complete deliveries they despawn since there is no way to get back to the terminal, no mods required.

    Explain how you made the train cargo station. Your commentary is bafflingly unintelligible. For example, at 1:51, you say "the import train will either go directly into the target cargo station right into the city which is down here, we have two of them, or it will just turn around and do so that's not very good so what we do have to make this very good happening is we do have this one station..." What does that mean and who could understand it?

      Not as long as the train path is considered shorter and has capacity (there is some max train amount I assume) - but that's only my observation - also those trucks will just go to the upper train station where further transport is via train then

    Really great idea. Now we need a build video so we can SEE the thought process in action. If I understand correctly. 1. One cargo station is import only and is not connected to the city lines or roads. 2. 2nd Cargo station is connected to city and delivers to another cargo station in the heart of the city? I assume this will export as well? 3. Third cargo station is next to hiway to catch overflow imports by truck and is not connected to the internal roads or cargo stations? I can't wait to try this but I am still unclear HOW?

      1 Cargo Station is for exporting truck deliveries (the one closest to highway as its closest for the trucks, important detail) The double station works as a relay to circumwent the troughput limit of a station in terms of imports->trucks it's important no other trucks go there as it will drastically limit the throughput (every station can only have x trucks on the road including return time) The city station does not have direct connection to export - it can only deliver to the relay station. This all relies a lot on the fact to force the traffic via smallest route and maximizing throughput 🙂

      sorry for the late reply :-) The thing with these sorts if builds is they just don't work as a single entity. Some things are important to be setup in a distinct way, like the upper station has to be the closest thing to the highway for example - as a workshop item, people would expect it to just work, which wouldnt be the case. This video therefore shows the concept/idea WHY it works, so everyone can recreate something similar for his own situation. But I may try to wrap my head around it, if there is a way to generalize it

    Would have been cool if you would just explain how the cargo train terminal works and how you set it up. The way you talk is extremely non coherent and I am none the wiser on how to get the cargo train terminal to work.

      If you don't know the basics of the cargo train terminal then go and watch a video for that. This video is as the title says "How to make cargo transfer stations" and its actually really well thought out and helpful. Don't get mad at him because you clicked on the wrong video.

    This is a lot for a newbie, but repetition helps. Didn’t quite understand the role of the top cargo station, though. It seems to connect the external and internal trains.

      The top cargo station handles only the (import) cargo coming by highway connection (its the shortest route for trucks) - to not interrupt the other stations with it. So all highway traffic goes to the top station which will send trains to the city then - so all the highway cargo is going there and nowhere else. This will keep the travel distance for trucks at the minimum and not disrupt the transfer stations south of it. The time it needs to spawn/consume trucks is really the limiting factor of a cargo train station and everything is laid out in a way, to give every source of cargo a shortest route to where you want it to go

      Right next to industry to prevent traffic problems I have a one way 4 lane loops of road through my industry with horizontal 3 lane one way roads alternating to have minimal clogging Also, commercial gets about 10% as much vehicles delivered from industry so have commercial have easy access with more lanes to prevent backups.

    It works like a charm! Now all the trucks coming from outside have all bypassed my main roads from city entrance all the way stretching to the commercial zones. Such a fantastic method to control traffic flow!

    so here is how this works the import/external trains comes into your city and drops off the imports to the first cargo station. it has only 1 way it can go, in and back out. now that station spawns trucks to deliver the product, in this instance to the station right next door, and then this station now spawns trains (when it can fill a train I assume) to deliver those same products to another station (a 3rd station) in your city (perhaps by your commercial buildings) all it is doing is transferring those same products closer to your stores (commercial) and that is all that one is doing. now the 3rd station will spawn trucks to deliver the products to your commercial stores I hope that is clear enough to understand how this works

      so if using industry that 3rd station would be near your industry they would get the product and make the goods for your commercial which you can let the trucks deliver or make another station to bring those products to your commercial area
