    Hey beautiful🥰🥰🥰!! It's true that in the west vacations are taken very seriously. I live with foreign expats in my neighbourhood here in rural Kenya, and when "summer" comes (of course for us it's winter!) they all disappear to holiday destinations!! Meanwhile, we locals are planning to go to Vihiga to see our people!!!😅 Although to be honest, Kenyans are doing better these days, planning getaways to make memorable experiences for the family.🙂

    You already speak Dutch good even if it takes time to find your words. I learned most of my English watching movies and reading Dutch subtitles. Maybe it helps if you watch a Dutch movie with English subtitles. I am learning Kiswahili now and have the same grammar problems. Also time is difficult as you start counting from 6 not to talk about all the noun groups 😅 Please keep up the good work and have a leuke dag.

    • @doreennekesaofficial
      @doreennekesaofficial Месяц назад

      When I started learning Dutch, I began to really appreciate the uniqueness in languages. I used to think Dutch grammar was hard until I thought about people learning my Swahili, and I "felt better"😆. Because it throws you completely off guard. Like when you say "my dad" in Swahili, you will interchange it to "dad my" (baba yangu)😆. That was very normal to me, and now I find it weird. So I try to console myself that Dutch is closer to English anyway, so with my English vocabulary, I can navigate. Apart from the grammar part, of course. And very simi words like I confuse between Nou and Nu. Anyway, with Dutch, subtitles have helped me a lot since I watch the Dutch national TV channels that have dutch subtitles running below. And surely, I'm beginning to recognise more and more words. In fact, I go about reading Dutch words wherever I go. Thank you for sharing your experience 😊.

    I enjoyed the neighboured ride sis. I relate with challenges of making local friends. I think the one biggest hinder is the language.. Because you may meet kind and open people (which is not common) but the conversation would rarely go deeper due to language barrier or let's say fluency issues. Social life is the one reason I would go back home anytime.

    • @doreennekesaofficial

      My dear, language is for sure a major setback for me. I have attended events that were mostly in Dutch and if I didn't have anyone I know around, I would be forced to sit there like a zombie or try my luck to start conversations in English. Which can work but not always the case. It's easier if you speak the language. Socially, it can be draining. But anyway, sometimes it's just sweet to be on your own without nobody bothering you 😆

    The traffic in the netherlands is very organized. To make it as safe as possible so use the part of the road depending if you are on foot, bike or using a car Dress the way you like but use layers. If its warm you can take of one or even two layers if nescessary The netherlandsare not utopia but you can live a good life

      @sssibbe80 I agree but not fully. I've not found where to buy my Kenyan vegetables. Not Africa but Kenyan. So I just buy Spinaze and survive with it😊

    I recently relocated to the Friesland province from Botswana and some days are really hard. As to braiding , i have lost all hope. I have decided to cut my hair beacuse i cant afford to get someone to braid my hair currently.

      @mmasetemasegophatshwane8832 I really feel what you're going through. The good news is that it gets easier by the day. When I made this video months ago, things were very tough. As I type this, it has gotten better. I comfortably cut my own hair, repair my bicycle, and screw things around the house. Just to name a few. I wish you well as you adjust. Hopefully, soon you will grow your hair again and learn how to braid.😊
