Welcome to Stitch ‘N Fiction, where historical style, crochet and sewing all come together in one nerdy little package. Using an Antique Crochet Pattern | The Perfect History Bounding Sweater
Просмотров 21 тыс.Год назад
Wearables are my favorite things to crochet, and I’m always on the lookout for cute sweater patterns. I’m also a big fan of historybounding, so imagine my delight when I came across this crochet sweater pattern from 1917! I thought it would look just as cute with a pair of jeans as it would a full WWI-era outfit. The pattern seems easy enough at first glance, so it can’t be too hard to make…rig...
Holey Moly | Repairing My Sweaters with Elbow Patches

Autumn approaches, and I’m excited for cozy scarves, sweaters, and pumpkin-spiced everything. But alas, I have a small problem. Well, several small problems. My sweaters have been loved *too* much and now they all have…the dreaded elbow holes. 😱 What’s a girl to do? Some stash-busting, of course! Patches made from fabric scraps are a great way to breathe new life into my clothes and put my favo...
Vintage Style for Lazy Hair Days | Crocheting a Snood
Просмотров 14 тыс.Год назад
I adore vintage hairstyles, but when I’m styling my hair for everyday wear I often just don’t have the desire to deal with a wet set, brush out, etc. Enter: The Snood Snoods (or snood-like things) have been worn throughout history, and they were a common accessory in the 1940’s, a decade that I take a lot of style inspiration from. They seemed like the perfect solution to get a vintage-inspired...
Using an Antique Crochet Pattern | Filet Crochet Table Runner
Просмотров 21 тыс.2 года назад
I’m diving into the world of historical crochet and it is…small? A lot of the old crochet patterns I’ve seen require finer yarn than I am used to working with, so I thought I’d try a simple project to get used to the smaller scale. Filet crochet seemed like a popular option for makers of the past, as there are so many patterns for it in vintage pattern archives, so I’m making a filet crochet ta...

Beautiful
Just finished watching. You did a beautiful piece. Subbed 😊
Just Vintage Crochet is a channel I follow.
And, you never made any more videos. I hope you are ok.
I'm still around! Life got really busy this year, but I'm hoping to come back with more videos in 2025. :)
@@stitchnfiction Hope to see you soon.
I don't know if anyone else has said this, but the pattern for this is actually on page 265 of that book!
Well done young lady!!!!!
I just saw the end of the video , so I know what I can use it for. Gorgeous!!!!!
It is absolutely beautiful. I love it. However, what should we do with it. How should we used for. Any ideas?
It’s pretty stay cool u to 🌨️
It's gorgeous!
No one will know you made a mistake unless you point it out. They won't see it at a full running gallop.😂😂😂
You’ll be sorry later that you didn’t take it all! Trust me.
I personally would’ve kept the length but that’s my taste. Love the yarn colours and effect. Think it’s really lovely and looks very comfy.
The men's specific buttons aren't because women didn't wear grey. Rather they are because men didn't wear floral/brightly colored/oversized buttons. The women got the pretty buttons. The men got the utilitarian grey buttons.
Do you have a PO Box? I have some very old small crochet pattern books. I would send you. My husband and I are downsizing and I hate to take things like that to the Goodwill. If you’re interested, just let me know.
I did enjoy this video! How long did it take you to make this doily? I’m used to working with mostly worsted weight some DK. I love how you tacked it to fabric instead like you said, stretching it out. I wonder how a doily would look on denim??
Thank you! I think doilies would look great on denim. I don't recall exactly how long this took me, so just guessing here, but maybe 6 hours of total stitching time?
@@stitchnfiction it’s gonna be tough to work with cotton yarn with no stretch and a smaller hook. How did you get used to using a yarn with no stretch and is it hard on your fingers?
Beautiful.
Looks like Solomons Knot stitch in between DCs.
Yes, it is!
@@stitchnfiction It's time I tried it, see you soon.
I love making lace. I used some old thread that was a little discolored and when I was done with the lace I tea dyed it. I just love that look.
Totes and bins are the devil. They say they are for storage but they are only for hoarding. After we moved to a smaller house in retirement that had no basement I sold every single one on Facebook. All my stuff had to fit neatly in closets or cupboards or it was donated. I love my yarn in a bookcase, I can look over and plan projects.
When I'm working with the size 10 thread I like to use a size 22 tapestry needle I like those needles because they have blunt tips
Very snazzy. Great job!
I am great full to learn, from a master of a master, crocheter, Thank You,, for all that you do. Great job! 💕🥰🙋🏽♀️🇵🇷🇺🇸 6:02
A Google search showed your crochet cotton was made anywhere from the 1930's through the 1950's.
Can you tell us what paytern?
Soooooo pretty!
This isn’t a step by step tutorial on how to make the snood…is more vanity and self adoration channel!!
The pattern is linked in the description, sweetheart!
@@floral2743 - I didn’t asked for the pattern “sweetheart” I said that this isn’t a step by step tutorial!! I like your condescending sweetheart remark! You definitely need reading comprehension classes.
@@bootsie280 bless you, honey. The title of the video never mentioned tutorial! Nor a step by step. Don't get to stressed, now, you'll get wrinkles :)
Me too!❤😂
where did you get those hooks? the pattern said steel crochet hook No. 7 and most steel hooks I find dont have that handle on them. I cant crochet that small it aggravates the fibromyalgia flare ups. So I can only go as small is B/1. so I would LOVE to know where you got those hooks from
They're from the Amour Steel Crochet Hook Set by Clover! If you Google "Clover Amour Steel Crochet Hooks" you can find them on several online retailers. I also struggle holding thin hooks, and I love these.
Well, you know we all want the pattern now!
A scarf with pockets but from the 1920’s?! Will you have a video for it? I’ve been waiting for a long time 😅
You are such an inspiration! Great job!! I love resurrecting vintage patterns!!
So beautiful! Your perseverance certainly paid off!!
I told me husband not to let me buy any more yarn this year....That only lasted a week. I really needed all the new yarn. Most of it isn't still in the Hobby Lobby bags I brought them home in. That would be crazy.
Congratulations!! It looks just beautiful. Thank you for sharing. ❤
I have that pattern! You've inspired me, love your yarn choice - I agree wool may be too warm. Very nice how it frames your face.
It is very pretty.
Well done that’s hard you have a lot of patience.
This particular method looks like Tatting method ..
My gosh, the times my dog (a Great Dane for the amount of yarn) has been covered in frog yarn cannot be counted. Glad to know other dogs get frogged on :D
I like your don't quit attitude. Great job! ❤
FABULOUS job engineering a pattern off that picture! The project turned out great. I loved how you showed how you overcame the difficulties of actually crocheting the project without an actual pattern.. BELIEVE me that happens even with a written pattern depending on the author of the pattern. A question: I have noticed that many crocheters leave an especially long tail to weave in at the end. WHY? I have noticed this while watching RUclips videos. In response to the question about doing double trebles and triple trebles with the loops a little lose, for me, it's a tension issue. I enjoy the videos.😊❤❤
Thank you so much! RE: your question about tails - I personally find it easier to weave in the ends with a longer tail, as I get more range of movement with my yarn needle that way. Much easier to cut off excess rather than struggle with a too-short thread. ☺️
What about just using the crochet hook to weave in ends?
Love, love, love your snood.💖
Gorgeous
Wood crates. I got the idea from The Yarn Geek. She is a second-generation yarn hoarder...lol! My husband took up woodworking during the Plandemic and I had him build me wood crates. You safely stack them. check her out she has whole walls and it is actually gorgeous. I have 10 stacked 2 high.
If u love Giles crochet check out crochet with joann she will.brighten your crochet world
Some of your lace may be bobbin lace and some tatting. For wonderful treasure passed down to you, what a blessing to have.
I've got the things needed for tatting, watched a few tutorials but still haven't got the hang of it. I need to try harder, I guess.
Wow!!! That came out beautifully
I just came across this article in my Google app. I'm so happy I did because I've never seen your utube channel. I love everything vintage and Victorian. I absolutely love you wall art!!!!
Aww, thank you so much! 😊
Wow, it turned out great.❤
