Our 2022 Winnebago Boldt Update
Our 2022 Boldt got some fixes and some upgrades. It has been awhile since we’ve done a van video so I will give y’all a quick rundown of what has happened. This will be a brief overview but if anyone has specific questions about our van please leave them in the comments section.

Testing the Boldt on the backroads
Просмотров 687Год назад
Well, not everything is in 100% working order quite yet but we are getting close. Sorry for the big delay in uploads but this move has been a huge task. not to mention that right after we moved from one state to another but then had to help move someone else multiple states away and then go pick up our van. Craziness has been the key word lately. Enjoy!

We finally got our van back in mostly working order. I do have to check some status requirements for the solar charge but for now we can use the rig. We took a one day trip to Pacific Grove to test things out and to relax in the midst of our packing for the big move.

    Thank you for the review and how does the Sprint drive easy? I like MB but I know they are expensive to maintain routine one we can probably handle it but if it's a major one I probably need take it to the dealer to fix it 😢 I understand a new RV design there were bugs to work out workers and dealers May not familiar with the design and how to put it together 😅

    Sorry to hear The problems you have with the RV 😢 I am looking for one as a emergency house just in case, I would have a place to stay in 😅 I saw a video from a YT he got a coachmen Nova and he had some problems with it so he video the experience when he took it to Indiana coachmen HQ and he talked Rick the GM for the RV and he promised to fix the problem and he did at the end of the video he said Rick came talk to him again he said his feelings was Rick really cared about him and the problem with the RV he felt Rick was sincere and he promised to paid for the expensive he incurred driving from San to Indiana so he was happy his problem was fixed and he said he would buy another Nova from coachmen.i have seen some videos of Rick with other you tuber and he was very nice and tried explains why he did things this way because another consumer suggest it and it's a good idea so he put the change in the next generation of new RV from the video I think he really cares about his product and his customers and tries to listen to them for improvement

    Well, u sold me on NOT getting a high-tech expensive setup--I couldn't fix what u did and couldn't do "lawsuits", etc. I will stick with a simple van build where I set it up and I know how everything works. I am glad it is now working well for u now, though--u deserve it, for sure. 👍 Thank u very, very much. I am so glad I found your videos as well as those from others.

    Thanks for the video and updates. I have a 2020 4x4 BL and I also live in AZ, so I watch your videos with interest. I like your upgrades and I have done many similar. I have the boxes, Owl ladder, Aluminess heavy duty front bumper, Agile RIP Kit, upgraded tires and wheels too. I like seeing what others do with similar setups. I also have had my share of Winnebago quality problems as well. They really suck as a company, and I wouldn't recommend a product of theirs to anybody. I still have a pesky small water leak problem on one of the water lines running behind the shower faucet wall that I took in twice to get fixed but was never done correctly. I tried addressing it myself but getting access to it is a real problem so if you have any ideas, please let me know. I'm also interested in your blackout curtain setup. Where did you get it and did you install it yourself? Also, any great boondocking camping areas in AZ that you can share with me would be appreciated. Especially in any higher elevation areas to escape the summer heat. As a rule, I get my rig out at least once a month to enjoy and justify its cost. I've explored a lot of this great State, but I could use more ideas. Thank you for your time.

      Thanks for watching. Yes, Winnebago used to be a descent brand but I think most of the RV manufacturing has slipped quite a bit. We used to live in northern Indiana and as a machinist I have made component parts for most of the major brands out there. I’ve seen companies lose contracts on parts for less than 1/4 of a cent price cut because someone got their hands on some cheap Chinese steel. Sad. Glad I got out of that industry. Up here, north of Prescott, there is a ton of boondocking availability. Prescott NF is massive. Lots of public land between Prescott and Flagstaff. I use Gaia for map searching public lands. That and just heading out onto the dirt roads and seeing where they take me. We can drive all the way up to Williams or out to Sedona without touching pavement. As far as your leak behind the shower goes you have a few options. But they all are going to be tight fit to get to by just removing the control panels or the vents. Shoot me an email and maybe I can help you out. Can you see where the leak is originating from? You can DM me through our Instagram link as well. Good luck 👍🏻

    Just watched the second video from your channel and it's just really making me want to get out there and do this. I saw the trading Post you stopped at and left them a very nice email after going on their website and it looks like a place I would love to visit and learn about the different cultures and prospecting fun , learn new things that I haven't learned or seen in my 62 years on this Earth. Also the work that you're doing with ministries is very interesting I'm just starting to get into that and would like to meet more like-minded people and visit different churches in volunteer where I can when I can. I've been a big brother to younger kids and in my motorcycle shop I've had to hire a lot of work study kids a lot of them came from single parent homes and needed help more than just a job and Beverly and I provided that unknowingly but feel good knowing that one or two have gone on to do well in life from what they've learned. I hope God puts me in a path of somebody that needs my help being an addict in the gutter or someone who's had a traumatic experience in life and needs someone to talk to, then I'll listen with open ears if that's what I supposed to do. Like the first video I just saw of yours I'm putting my faith in God's hands. I have nothing to fear.. so I'm just going to learn as I go and if I buy that bolt I'll have to keep my eye on the electrical issue.. I know these videos are a little bit older so I hope you resolve your mechanical issues and are still doing the good work that you've been doing..

    I'm just watching a video and I must admit I'm very impressed especially with the last part of it and what you said. I'm selling my house and everything I own, retired from a Motorsports business I've had for 30 years and me and my two cats are going to hit the road I'm actually looking at a used Boldt myself. it basically checks all the boxes and I made a few calls to some RV sites just to test the waters and they're all booked up for months. After seeing this video and I'm going to watch more of yours I believe in what you said about God having a plan and will send us in the right direction. It's refreshing to hear other people mention it. Thank you for confirming what I've always felt and I'm going at this totally blind knowing nothing about RV life but I'm guessing I'm going to learn as I go. I have more years behind me than I do in front of me ,and I want to get out there sooner than later and maybe do some good however I can. My name is Gregg Savage and it was a pleasure to watch this video.

    Random quirk that the locking door handles are generally plastic on metal bolt so the most used ones will completely strip over time and you have to purchase a new mechanism just for the plastic push -- but overall isn't a big deal just a bit of a design flaw we noticed.

      @@americanpromisedland What's the lowest temps you can take the Boldt to? We have a Travato and we did a lot of 10-20 degree nights but as soon as it hit single digits for an extended period, the pipes froze even though they advertise it's "inside the coach". Winnebago can't be bothered to put any kind of insulation and pipes sit between sheet metal of van and flooring. They're all fair weather vehicles -- people do say good things about Revel though so I wonder.

    • @americanpromisedland
      @americanpromisedland Год назад

      We were in Spokane Washington last winter. Got down to the teens. The Boldt has tank heaters and dual pane windows (except the cab). The only thing that froze was the macerator pump on our gray tank. The heater pad Winnebago installed on that pump didn’t make it to the pump body but on the pump housing. The insulation is not adequate for full sub-zero stays but the wife won’t want to camp that way anyway. RV’s will never be as good as stick built homes so the limitations are expected. I’ve seen a few builds that could handle extreme cold but they cost as much as a house.

    We have a 2020 Boldt KL. It is NOT a 4x4. We bought it used and have not had significant problems other than crosswinds. Question for you. What types of problems did you have in crosswinds? We feel that we can get blown around even unexpectedly at times.

    • @americanpromisedland
      @americanpromisedland Год назад

      We are in northern Arizona and it can be quite windy in the high desert. The wind assist is crazy on these vans. Slowing down will help alleviate some of the assists issues but our greatest improvement came from our suspension upgrade. We do wish that the cross wind assist could be disabled like you can disable the lane assist but until that mod comes along it’s just going to be a white knuckle drive sometimes. Good luck and hope we see you out on the road!

    We're looking at a 2020 KL. What are some common Boldt problems to look for?

    • @americanpromisedland
      @americanpromisedland Год назад

      Oh boy, where to start? If it’s brand new be sure that the Volta system is working properly. That it charges from shore power, while driving, and from Solar. The black and grey tanks can have issues when you go to drain them. Sometimes the pull cables will pull right from the trap door fixture and it can get stuck open, closed or in between. The macerator pumps can get jammed and burn out fuses. The awning can decide that it wants to open all on its own, sometimes when driving. Those would be the most serious. Every new RV will have something but for us the Volta system not working properly was the biggest. Good luck with your purchase and remember to have lots of patience the first year you own it. We’ve just now got most of it dialed in.

      We have gotten the majority of our issues fixed either by Volta or working on it ourselves. It’s amazing what you learn when you take things apart for repairs and see how it was originally assembled improperly from the get go. Someone drove a self tapping screw through a bracket and into the exhaust line for the Truma heater. Had I not fixed that particular issue myself we would have had a slow carbon monoxide leak at night while running the heater.

    Excellent review, I don’t think it’s much of a 4 season campervan. Water filters are never installed prior to sale. Especially if they are winterized or need winterization at the dealer. I use those magnet lights in my Horizon. One in the pantry and one under my microwave for more light. I recommend taking the Bolt to Forest City, Iowa. Winnebago service is amazing. I took my Horizon there at 6 months with 43 items, most small and one large issue. They fixed everything in 5 days. Go to Forest City, make a trip out of it. I wouldn’t let any Rv dealer repair shop touch it. An appointment at Forest City is well worth the trip. I go,there yearly. With my 2007 and now my 2020 Winnebago diesel. Our next video will be a full walkthrough and our current impressions. I’ve heard that Winnebago has discontinued the Boldt but there are plenty out there as dealer stock. If you can survive the initial break in process they can be a great rig.

The execution of the build is what was lacking. As we go through the systems and fix it our way so we know it will work, we are finding that this rig can be exactly what we want it to be.
