I just want to say how thankful I am that my father is an outdoorsman, and even more so that this was not his type of exploring. Even imagining being stuck in three mile long lava tubes makes me feel queasy. I am also thankful there are people who enjoy this. They bring me beautiful sights I would otherwise be unaware of their existence.

i'd like to think the percentage of people who returned and said it's not safe to go there is low, so people get encouraged to go caving, the sad truth is because the percentage of people who would have said that too, never came back.

Ok, i get it, they enjoy the experience of crawling through the caves and squeezing under things. However my question is this, how do they turn to go back 🤔 Do they know they can get out at the end? Will it open out? Oh and if they're going back the way they came what happens if the tunnel is flooded with rain? Obviously im terrified of caves and have claustrophobia, but I've always wondered. Thank you.
