    Hello, as a self taught player, your lessons are so valuable. I have been sitting super stiff whilst playing, and moving the cello and my body from side to side with the bow stroke already is making my notes sound more smooth and full. I have been using your finger exercises too. You have showed us how to play so little, but how to approach playing so much.

    thumb under second finger is about as tense as it gets. not a natural position for me

    • @cellotutorials3347
      @cellotutorials3347 6 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your comment. To check your natural position of thumb try next- Clench and undo you fist (like if you would be pumping) with your thumb above other fingers. Then randomly stop when the fist is in clench position. And watch where your thumb stopped (above which finger). Try it few times. That will be your natural position of thumb. Sometimes it stops above index finder. Sometime between index and middle. Rarely above ring finger. I will try to do a short video about that “checking exercise” to make it more clear.

      Actually different people , different position. You can check it by - quickly clench and unclench your fists few times and watch where the thumb stays (above middle finger, in between of index and middle, or above index - that’s natural position of your thumb. And keep same position under fingerboard , depending where it stoped - 1, 1and2 or 2nd 👌

    • @cellotutorials3347
      @cellotutorials3347 10 месяцев назад

      The pain might appear and speed of the fingers will be reduced. Fingers must run when playing fast and it’s hard to achieve if something is holding them. Therefore first - standing and falling freely on the fingerboard (almost like slapping) then they’re ready for run. 🏃
