It really depends on how much wood you have to split and how tough the wood is. A 3265 will split almost anything with ease, where the 1165V might take a bit more focus due to the lesser tonnage. The 1165V will split almost anything, but you'll have to choose some of your splits when you split tougher rounds (Sorta like splitting with an axe).

Hey Bud, 7 tons can be enough, but it depends on the wood types that you have. We build this machine with a very narrow wedge, which helps a lot with the low tonnage. I have yet to run into a log that the 1165 cannot split, but sometimes you do have to choose the right spot to split the log. Have a look at the RUclips channels Tonys Cool Tools, Dereks Stuff and Up in Smoke. They all have 1165Vs and split a variety of wood. Hopefully one of them has similar splits to you.

Hello, Are you referring to the stroke length? This machine has a 24" stroke length. It also is offered in a 30", 36" and 48" stroke. Have a look at the product on our website. The high flow kit makes the machine a 4413: split-fire.com/us/hydraulic-wood-splitter-4490-us/

Glad we could help you out with the video and on the call. The log lifters multi-purpose use sure does come in handy when you get into that bigger stuff, we try and recommend it to everyones purchase of a new splitter. But, for those that don't, we've made it easier to bolt on the log lifter on to a 2265 since then so that welding is no longer a requirement.

Thats right. The 390 works well, but the chipper could still benefit from more power. Check out our 4003 3pt hitch chipper.

Fantastic machine ! You're gonna love it.

The bogging is primarily to us throwing in oversized branches/limbs and Y shaped ones to see if the machine could handle it. Yes, its not the most powerful chipper but, it is designed with the residential user in mind not commercial. It has rental grade parts in it to extend the life and prevent early maintenance paired with the honda motor to be as reliable as it possibly can be. If time is of the essence for the job we recommend getting a commercial grade chipper to help out with that.

Ohhhh nooooo, :( We have developed a pedal option. It is currently being tested before we release it to website, we want to make sure its safe and extra reliable and most of retrofit-able. Stay tuned for the updates, we're not letting this option go to rest that easy.

We're not too sure if it would work in this exact configuration for a 3490 but, its an option that we might actually consider in the future, as most of our users have some sort of toy to haul the horizontal splitters. We'll keep you in mind when we design it Jake!

With this caster handle wheel option you're able to tilt the machine back a bit further than by hand, that might get you inside that garage of yours (WE HOPE) *fingers crossed*

That tonnage/knife setup is designed to have a higher efficiency than a traditional log splitter. You can get away with a lower tonnage if you narrow the knife. So far we have had no complaints about splitting force, and have had quite a few people surprised by the splitting power of the 1165. It is a powerful little splitter for what it is.
