All the buildup is caused by dryer softener sheets. Dry the clothes first, then add a dryer sheet for a minute or two last. The best fix would be for manufacturers to increase the blower vollesity so particles don't have a chance to stick on the way out. They are smart enough to do that but don't want to spend extra money using a higher speed fan.

I would uh, let the other tenants are homeowners. Whichever the case may be know about this so that they can make sure they get their vents cleaned out so that their dryers work too. That's ridiculous, it took 6 months and calling out a roofer. Because the roofing company was negligent in doing their job and the hoa put you off so long

I noticed when you were testing the airflow on the video I just watched. It was in Celsius. Are y'all up in Canada? Is what i'm wondering, because most of the time here, they don't do that. They measure it in fahrenheit.

Wow, I'm glad my dryer is on the exterior wall of my house. The dryer vent is about 2 feet long from the dryer to the wall, and i can clean it with my hand from the inside of the house. For your video those other vents in that building could use to he cleaned as well, show the video to those other people in the building. Reduced energy use is awesome for, but the main reason is Reduced fire danger. Inhad a friends dryer vent catch fire because it wasn't cleaned properly. Another one of my friends spent several days in the hospital because of it for smoke inhalation. Scary.

Thanks for sharing this awesome compilation! I would recommend having a shop vacuum with clear hose so you could show the lint and other objects coming out of the vent. It would save you so much time cleaning the lint off your customer's lawn.

You don't have to be a dryerologist to know that dryer vent is not supposed to vent vertically.....

Screen on a roof vent makes sense so nothing tries to enter it or make a nest in it and things of that nature, otherwise you dont tend to see vents with a screen on it in the more common locations

If the the lint canister is blocked on the dryer it can’t just self clean. You have to manually take it off and clean it as well as the blowe.

How did you clean up all that combustible lint that mixed in with the loose blown-in insulation?

My mom was having issues where it would take 3 cycles to dry clothes so i took a camera and scoped the vent and to my surprise it was clean so im like ok maybe its the line from the dryer it was also clean and it was a 5 Year drier. Long story short i bought her a new drier and it works and even bedding dries up to 10-15 minutes faster than the 5 year old unit.

My Samsung washer and dryer were nothing but trouble! I was so happy when I replaced them.

OK... this is almost to a T what my dryer vent looks like! In 2004 when my house was built... the dryer vent roof cap was instead a bathroom vent cap... so then I called the builder, they came out and put a proper dryer vent roof cap... but left the screen in...I grew up in the 70s climbing ont oour roof on our house, but it wasn't a steep roof...my roof is steep as hell... and the roof cap is at the extreme TOP... OH MY GOD people... when I tell you I thought I was gonna die, clinging to that roof slowly edging my way up there and when I got up there I was almost frozen in fear.. I managed to get the screen off.. but that wasn't enough! I cleaned the run myself with those things you connect to put on a drill, but did it from the inside... then used a leaf blower...and it seriously would go from great dryer run times to within 3 months... ONLY 3 months of me starting to slowly notice it was take slightly longer.. I found a workaround which works for me and keeps the run clean but the first few years of dealing with that was a total pain... I envy anyone who lives in a home where the dryer vents straight OUT

What is that hose called?

The problem with removing the screen is that it invites bird and squirrel nests. Homeowner should look into a new code compliant screen-less cap designed to discourage critters from moving in. Roof vents are an endless hassle. Sounds like the drum on the dryer could be cracked - may be getting a new dryer anyway.

The problem is, roofers know absolutely nothing about dryer vent code, and if they did, they don't know which vent on the roof is for the dryer.

Looks like that more than doubled the volume of air moving. That should make a huge difference in the drying time.

Why don't you use some type of catchment system so that/that dryer lint doesn't fly all over the place????

a nice touch, although it would cost you repeat business, would be to put a piece of metal screen behind the louvers, not a fine mesh, one with more like .5" squares, the kind that keep out rats. In this case, just to make sure small birds don't nest in it. I had to do something like this on my house.
