This video was right on time for me! I have felt the Lord telling me to slow down and go steady with our homeschooling, to listen to Him and His plan instead of trying to rush with mine. There's a stillness and peace that comes with it, making it a refuge from how hectic daily life can be. This is also our second year using SCM for math and reading. I'm really looking forward to your videos and seeing how you incorporate SCM!

That’s the issue I find myself having with my math minded child. He’s amazing it’s numbers. But this year we started in TGTB math4 and he’s not enjoying it nor grasping it.

Thank you so much! I'm new to your channel as my algorithm suggested this video, and it was spot on! We also used to use AO but switched over to SCM once I had three students. We've found family subjects not only simpler but richer for us all. We also are BSFers and deeply appreciate studying God's Word as a Church and not only as a denomination. Unity in Jesus is beautiful. I look forward to watching your other videos!

Wow wow wow. This week I started so many changes including Ambleside with my 4 kids and I just broke down….. it was SO overwhelming. So I decided to just pray and rest in him today and you posted this video! It’s the reaffirmation I needed that it will be ok and sometimes we have to have a change so we can end up where we need to be! I’m very very new to charlotte mason and I’m still unsure as to what I need to be doing with them honestly.. I started the truth and beauty curriculum! It is very different from what I am used to. I would say it’s a lot like elementary arithmetic from Simply Charlotte Mason.. and I’m not really used to that slowed down approach.. I have been doing the good and the beautiful for four years and I sort of just have started to feel like it’s not for us. I think it was a great starter when I needed to find something fast. But now that I’m sort of seasoned, I am on the hunt. ❤ looking forward to more of your updates and seeing what works for you! I just want to read all day and find good books! So let me know if you hear of anything.

So glad you’re back! We, too, stopped using Ambleside this year because it was just SO MUCH. And we feel so much freedom now.

New subscriber here! Because I am thinking of switching from Waldorf to Charlotte Mason using Amble side I love how well and clear you explain things. I know you are switching but my main question is, did you feel you had to supplement for history? Or did you just follow it through as it is? I am really looking into introducing history with a few of all cultures, keeping it diverse and true. Did you find anything that you didn’t align with at all? My second question and important as well. I have a 10 year old and an 8 year and I’m still not sure what year to start. I don’t mind combining while adding in anything for my oldest. Thank you

This is exciting! I just got into SCM and bought a bunch of things. I’m all about homeschooling my three kids together and leveling up or down according to my kids and where they are. That’s a huge reason why I am going in the SCM direction. Excited to see your upcoming videos ❤

So excited to hear more about SCM. We were in our second year of AO (Years 3 and 4) and we love love love it, but it is a lot and there are many a day I question if a family style, more pared down curriculum would be better for peace and harmony. 😅

Queria agradecer você por fazer esse vídeo, apesar de achar que não vá ver esse comentário, porque eu comecei com uma matemática clássica e minha filha que amava matematica, ao chegar no primeiro ano ela passou a odiar. Paguei tão caro no material e ela nem o terminou. Para o segundo ano eu corri em TGTB por ser mais simples, e voltei para o curriculo do primeiro ano, já que senti que ela havia desperdiçado o tempo com o outro material. Foi tão bom! Ela terminou o nivel 1 e já começou o nível 2 antes de acabar seu ano letivo. Estamos em quase 50 % do livro 2 e vamos terminar no ano que vem ( aqui no Brasil o ano letivo começa em fevereiro e termina em Dezembro). Sei que ela vai começar o volume 3 antes do segundo semestre, de tanto que ama. Eu tenho TDAH e para mim a apostila TGTB tem sido ótima, porque também lembro coisas que havia esquecido ou não aprendido tão bem e consigo explicar de forma simplificada para minha filha. Que seus filhos amem a matematica novamente com o Singapura e viva o Homeschooling que é tão flexivel!

This is soooo helpful! I have 3 kiddos who I will be doing a book with and AO has sort of overwhelmed me time wise between all of my kids. You have done such an amazing job with your kids in all your videos using it! So I’m really really excited to know what your updates on what has been working for you because I also had a really hard time with the reduced family readaloud time. I know this is an older video but im curious what you do the when your time slot is up but you havent finished the lesson? Do you continue with the rest of your schedule and pick back up the next day? struggling with this part of it but this would be so helpful.

My daughter was 1st grade in highly capable program last year but they learned 3rd grade Math, now we moved and have a hard time with her current online school, even though she completely moved up one grade to 3rd grade class and attending 4th grade class in math still didn’t work out. I prefer the mastery approach as well so I think the Singapore Math would works best for us. Do you happen to have any advice about The Beast Academy? I have heard it works great for the gifted kids but the comic style is kinda something really hold me back. Thanks again for your video.

Thanks for sharing. I was introduced to CM through SCM and while our oldest is only 5 and we haven’t really done formal lesson yet, but I have been looking through SCM, AO, as well as Under the Home and I always lean towards SCM on what we will follow once we get to formal lesson. So I’m excited to see any new content you put out on SCM.

This reminds me of the Wentworth Primary Arithmetic that we use (1890s math). It's public domain, includes slate work, very straight forward, written more for the teacher.

Incredibly helpful! I think adding this with either build your library or torchlight for more literature/reading might work perfectly for us! It doesn’t seem to have much literature.

I found you today because I am just starting AO Year 1 this year. so I have been watching your previous videos. So, when I saw this, I was like, "Oh man!" But your perspective is so wise and you've removed your ego for homeschooling-- which is not so easy in the homeschooling world! I'm excited to follow your SCM journey despite being on AO myself.
